I HIGHLY recommend the Black Diamond Sprinter 500 lumen headlamp. lightweight in the front, high lumen count, rear blinking light, rechargeable and optional "over the top" head strap. $80 full price....but I've gotten mine for around $50 with sales.
@jeremyday6864 fair enough. I've purchased 4 lamps...two 500 lumen and two 250 lumen years ago...and friends have purchased the 500 and none of them have had issues.
For really cold weather, I wear ski gloves (North Face) and hand warmers. My hands get very cold! Besides the cold, the light is a big factor for me. I feel the darkness shortens my stride because I can't see far enough in front of me (yes, I do wear 2 lights)!
Craft Lumen gloves/mittens are amazing! Anything by Craft really. Plus some of them have reflective material on them which helps be seen in the dark. I always shoveled the whole block! No one gets us runners 😂 Stay warm!
I really like Craft’s winter performance gear. They have a range of different gloves. Not cheap but work great. I have the hybrid ones with the built-in mitten.
one time while running on the river trail in Lansing at night I couldn't see someone until I was maybe 3 feet from them but it was an area that wasn't lighted in the woods
Keep us posted on the winter running gear. I'm in Toronto so pretty much the exact same weather as you. It'll be my first year running through winter (taking a bit of a break until January) so trying to figure this all out.
Please keep us posted when you find a good pair of gloves because the struggle is REAL for us winter runners. I've bought about 10 pairs in the past couple of years and I'm not really happy with any of them.
Maybe I’m really tired and missing something but how is it already Friday, Dec 20th in your video and at the time I’m watching this it’s Thursday, Dec 19th …and it says this video came out 1 day ago 🤨
Maybe the Brooks GL Max are sensitive to the temp, firming up as the temp goes down.

Counterpoint: Don’t buy anything from Black Diamond. Their QC is crap so it’s basically a coin flip if you have a bright headlamp or garbage.

tracksmith mitts totally worth it...
Looking into them!

Great point about the stride length, so true. I also feel like it's harder to tell how fast I'm running without looking at my watch.
I want one of those light up vest things. I run so often in the dark through winter!!
I ran in it this week, I felt very illuminated!
I bought some smart wool gloves/mittens from Sierra. I think I spent $25. They’re great in the cold but maybe too warm if the temperature is above 20.
Too warm, you say? I like the sound of that!

Another recommendation for Craft! I’ll definitely need to check them out

Yep, I’ve resigned to the fact that I can’t get high quality for bargain bin prices 😆. I’ll take a look at Craft

Surprise!
In addition to running I mountain bike all winter and my go to are the mechanix coldwork gloves from Lowes. $20. They are the best.

Thanks for watching! I tried out all the stuff I got this week, and ordered some gloves, so I'll share my thoughts
Dang that’s cold! We had a high of like 73 degrees today here in San Diego. I went out to run at 4:30pm cuz it was too warm earlier
That sounds like a dream!

I ordered some gloves earlier this week, I will definitely give them a quick review in a future vlog!
For zero degree runs try on Northface Apex Insulated
I'll check them out!
I feel you on the Brooks Glycerin Max not working for you. I say that every time I run in them. Extremely well made but it seems to drain my energy.
Yep. I think the stiffness of the shoe just doesn't work for me.
@ I did a 14 mile run in them today. That’s the last run I will do in them. They weren’t enjoyable at all. Even for a slower guy like me.
I have thr balos and its fantastic, go half a side up and it's not like v13

How about CRAFT CORE INSULATE MITTEN
I got the Craft ADV Lumen hybrid glove! It should arrive in a few days
