I love running in the winter, I know I'm odd lol. I find it scenic, not dealing with bugs, sweat etc. I like the Altra Olympus Waterproof Mid-High version for my snow runs. I also run in detachable mittens. My hands get warmer than in gloves and if they get to hot I can flip the mittens open. Greetings from southern Colorado. ( it's snowing as I type looking forward to my snow run )

Great picks. I just got the Cyber Jade SC Elites (plus the matching shorts and hat). If you like the Rebel, I would recommend the SC Trainer and Elite. Also a good coffee to try would be the Verena Street Mississippi Grogg coffee. It's fantastic

I would not worry about any of the "hills" at GC...except for the long trudge from 11-14. I would be more concerned with race participant volume vs room on some of the narrow paths and some of the long straights that seem to go on forever.

I bought the invincible run 3.. the first Nike shoe except for Nike Frees that I've bought since 1982. Yep.. '82. For me it's neck & neck with the Adidas Adistar 3, On Cloudeclipse & NB 1080 v14 as my favourite recovery shoe. I also love the More v4 & 5.. On's Cloudeclipse is exceptional but I'm in love with my "black & fuchsia" Nikes. The cushion is different from the Adistar 3.. not better, not worse.. but different. Genuinely surprised I could love a Nike running shoe - it's been four decades!!

You will love glass city, I've done the half marathon there five or six times. great course, very well organized, and it's pancake flat. I won't be doing the Half Marathon this year.

Just curious how you rate your fitness starting this new training block versus when your started for your previous fall marathon. I guess how you feel next week when your start adding the harder workouts will let you know. Good luck!

DAKINE makes the best gloves without a doubt and also best priced. I have had a pair of their mid range/low volume snowboarding gloves for 10+ years now and they are phenomenal. I think they are the old edition of what’s now called the Nova. 50 ish bucks. Perfect for temps 10-40F. Durable as hell. I wear them for snowboarding and running.

Glass City is great for a course PR. Ran it in 2023. Like you said there’s a hill at mile 18 and another one at around mile 21 but there’s two huge downhills before those so take advantage of them. The course isn’t the most scenic (it resembles a lot of the neighborhoods you run in currently) but it’s very well ran.

I ran Glass City as my first marathon. As I recall the course was great, mix of city, parks and some sidewalks… It is a small race and the start and finish were nice. It is flat and fun… good luck, you got this. Let’s Go!

Has anyone rolled their ankle in these? I just rolled my ankle a few weeks ago and I’m not sure if it was because of the sole of the shoe being wider or unstable. Or if it was simply uneven ground. I’m nervous about wearing them again.

Do you have to stop and wait in line to clear immigration on both n sides? Why don't they do passport checks before the race and use the bib as the id check?

Glizzy Max has the best toe off (glide roll) shoe i’ve had in my max cushion inventory, it’s foam is firm and responsive, best used for easy runs

Be curious of the stiff problem has to do with running in cold temperatures and it's effect on the foam. Most of these foams react very differently in warm vs cold temps. Just a thought. Also i think you'll be hard pressed to find a max stack shoe that isn't stiff. The physics of that thick of a slab of foam is almost always going to be hard to bend.

Great review! I've only done two runs in my pair so far and I feel the same way. They feel really stiff to me (I'm also a heel striker). They aren't horrible, but not my favorite.

Hi thanks for the review, I’m starting to get into running. Would you recommend this or the more foam v5 for long distance zone 2 runs? I’m also looking at the rebel v4 for tempo and all out runs.

It just shows how individual we all are, I'm a heel striker and I love the way they roll through. I think it's down to the softer heel foam and me being a slightly bigger lad. But I'll happily put in long runs and some hill tempo sessions in them. I'm at 100km and they have absolutely zero signs of wear, which for me is amazing as I can sometimes be a bit harsh on outsole rubber

I’m generally not a Brooks fan & the Glycerin 20s really confirmed that for me. Probably my last Brooks purchase. I did buy the Puma MagMax & really like those. Side note, you’ve mentioned your ankles numerous times on the channel. Have you thought about dropping like $20 on one of those ankle strengthening boards so you could handle a mild ankle turn on a rock or something without injury?

Fully understand your concerns with the stiffness of the Glycerin Max. It’s a great shoe for someone that enjoys running and doesn’t like to be connected to the ground. Brooks now has the New Glycerin 22! This will give you a more grounded and nimble ride for a daily trainer with less stack height.
