I don’t think people understand as a performer, how hard it is to hit every single one of those words without missing a single word! When the breakdown happed, that was really her first breath of air. I’m not saying that she’s not breathing throughout the performance, but when the breakdown hits that’s her first chance to catch her breath. I was in a 90s hip-hop metal band as the lead singer so I can appreciate good talent as good as anyone. As a teenager she was one of my favorite musicians. BTW, at the time I listened to shit like Deftones, Korn and Fear Factory and I was also listening to her album on repeat. She rocks!

Alanis Morissette is one of the acts with that 90s authenticity. We were dished up so much real stuff like this that the late 90s had a counter movement of syrupy pop music like Hanson, Britney, the Spice Girls and a bunch of other stuff. The early to mid 90s was great while it lasted!

And I love that she was just like, "They can mute it out if they want to, but I'mma say it regardless.," & dropped the F bomb on national television. She is SUCH a BOSS! There's no one else like her.
I was lucky enough to see a show when she was on her Jagged Little Pill tour. I for sure knew that her talent was unique & that she was a huge deal, but at that age (20) I didn't compute that she would end up influencing & have a major impact on the female music industry.
I'm seeing her live in July. First time I'll have seen her live since the Jagged Little Pill tour. Can't wait!

I watched this live. You knew it was a music changing moment, but I didn't even remember the singer. All I could focus on was the drummer and the bass player. What a hyperactive rhythm section. They instantly elevated the playing field (pun intended)

The fever of the band behind Alanis,....Taylor "fuckin" Hawkins on drums, the whole band behind Alanis is just invested in it, and rocking to the very best...such a damn cool video. I was a music store manager when this album was about to come out. The record label played it at a meeting and said they have high hopes for this artist. I was blown away the first time I heard this song.
Side note: had a managers meeting in Orlando and the label brought out 2 unknown acts to perform for us. The Backstreet Boys opened for Creed. I'd say they both did pretty good.
