BRIERLEY FOREST PARK [Former Sutton Colliery]

information I found out after but thought I'd add now here...the information was given to me by: Antony Stocks down ⬇️
Sutton colliery (Brierley, after miners from Brierley Hills in Staffordshire who came to work there) is not where the park is.
The colliery is actually in Stanton Hill and the large hill to the east of the lake is actually the spoil heap from the colliery.
The park site is actually old fields and heath before the park was created over 30 years ago.
