It does work but there is an easier (also slower way) because sometimes the layers dont work when transplanted. If you cut a bare stem section, wrap it in a moist paper towel, put it in the refirgerator for 2 months, then plant it, it'll grow roots and become a new tree. Again its slow but works every time for me :-)
did it live ?(I was a little surprised it was in full leaf . I would have thought the time to transplant would have been earlier when teh leaves we just break bud) Did the leave s fall off then grow back ?
That's exactly right. I meant it to be a typical layer but it lost all of the leaves and didn't rebound until the following spring. Propagating bare fig stems with buds is a better method!
