    Fantastic video on propagating fig tree suckers! I really appreciated the clear, step-by-step instructions and the tips on ensuring healthy root development. It's inspiring to see how easily we can clone fig trees and expand our garden with these beautiful plants. Your practical advice and enthusiasm make the process seem much less daunting. Can't wait to try this out and hopefully see my own fig tree saplings thriving soon. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

    I never thought of doing this. Amazing idea!
    When you pot up the suckers, how far can you bury the trunk? If you go a little deeper for stability will the bare trunk wood send out roots eventually?

    • @RossRaddi
      @RossRaddi  10 месяцев назад +3

      It will. You can bury them quite far. Just don't overwater it! That could lead to the bark rotting. Especially during dormancy.

    I bought my first fig last spring and grow in a 10 gallon pot. Had great success, thanks to your advice. Right now it’s in my garage. Is it too late to cut out the suckers.

    Excellent information and video! I have a Chicago hardy planted in ground that I haven’t pruned yet and it has a few large branches surrounding the main branch that I want to propagate. Would you use this method for trees in ground or is that method different? Do you have a video on that.

    • @RossRaddi
      @RossRaddi  10 месяцев назад +2

      Depending on the sucker at the base, a saw for larger branches is likely necessary. After you sever the sucker from the underground connection, use a nursery spade to dig around it for easier removal.

      Sounds great! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with those of us that are eager to learn. I’m definitely going to try this. It’s going to be a challenge but if successful it will be a great reward having more trees to harvest from.

    Thanks for the video. Is it too late on the season to do this on a 6 foot Chicago hardy in a container?

    • @RossRaddi

      Not if it's dormant.
