    4:30 the blue railings he passed on the Washington platform is where sometimes there's live music from locals while you wait for your train. Some can really sing and play instruments. You only need a permit. And oh justice was not done for the scenery surrounding the airport. The landscaping is spectacular year round. The ride is absolutely beautifull coming and leaving the airport.

      I feel the same way when I take rail to JFK - tons of traffic visible from LIRR and the AirTrain. Getting there from midtown Manhattan has gotten easier, btw - there is a sparkling new station under Grand Central - 21 mins to Jamaica (AirTrain Station), or 12-13 mins to Woodside, Queens (short Q70 bus or cab to LGA)

    I miss Chicago. I had great times living there. I once lived in North Chicago, far north. The crime happening in Chicago is mostly in the FAR West Side of Chicago, far from Downtown, North and South Chicago.
    Chicago is general safe outside of the West Side.

      I know, I use to live in Chicago. The Chicago "L" subway and rail is connected from downtown to O'Hare airport. I rode on the Chicago "L" subway and rail many times.
      LA, California needs to connect their subway and rail to LAX airport to downtown. Corrupt politics is holding LA, California back in many ways.

    • @msr1116
      @msr1116 Год назад

      It wasn't always that way, though. There was pushback about the cost estimate (always lowballed), questions regarding just how many people would ultimately use the train (always inflated) and then the debate of putting the rail lines in between the Kennedy Expy lanes vs. adding two more traffic lanes.

    • @timmmahhhh
      @timmmahhhh 11 месяцев назад

      Be happy LA has a light rail. It didn't until about 30 years ago so yes, let's hope that's one of the next improvements and expansions. As of now, NYC does not have light rails going into either JFK or LGA, but I understand they're working to change this.

I'll be staying at La Quinta's downtown hotel located in the loop. I was going to visit in early April, but they have the buckingham fountain turned off for the cold weather, so I canceled.
    The next cities to visit will be San Francisco and Seattle, definitely.

    I did this route several times in the late 1980s. The airport itself has changed quite a but other than the ticket machine the train ride has remained mostly as I remember it.
    I like the fact that they have those moving walkways in O'hare however there are so few of them I have to wonder why they bothered to put them in at all. With how big O'hare is you'd expect over a dozen .. not just two.

      Cities call Choo choo trains, subways, "metro" differently in different cities. To the extent that I've chosen Choo Choo here in Boston for the "commuter rail" because subways are called trains by some "Boston" Bostonians. (Edit not where I grew up in Cambridge.) Then we have a version of above ground rail (when it's not a subway) these are often called trolleys
      In the UK you would never call a subway a train.

      Last time I was in Chicago, I checked uber and it cost 75 usd for an uber from O'Hare to downtown, versus a three day pass for 15 dollars for CTA. You are out of your mind if you rent a car in Chicago, it's stressful as hell to drive there and expensive to park. You can get literally anywhere in the city for 15 bucks on the three day pass. No expensive rental car or uber.
