You know, I've always wondered why they charge so much for maintenance on lexus and BMW cars. However, after watching the pain in the rear seen in this video. I understand now why the manufacturers really made things a pain for no reason 😂. Seriously, great video, though, man! Keep up the great work!
Dude...I love your videos man they've been super helpful and I feel like we've dealt with a lot of the same issues. That being said, I'm gonna definitely use the grinder method after hearing all the damn things you gotta do just to lower the tank!!
I’ve followed you for a while and I kid you not, I *just* got this code on my SX. Gonna knock this out in short order and report back. Thanks for this man! Hands down one of my favorite channels.
Perfect timing, son's car is throwing P0440. I just replaced the gas cap with the Toyota factory unit, hoping I don't have to go this far to clear the code, but if I do, I'm glad I found this video. Thx
@@markerichoffmansorry if this is kind of late, but what parts did you use? I have the same issue and i thought you only need the overfill check valve and it’s gasket
Thank you for this video! I'll be doing a rear subframe overhaul in the next few months. While I have that down and out of the way I'll replace these components on the fuel tank as well. I have the P0440 code pending and CEL popping up at times. Plus, I smell fuel at the rear of the car; especially after a fill up.
@@TunerwithKids I just ordered the two valves and gaskets you replaced on top of the tank. Luckily the previous owner had a bunch of work done at a Lexus dealer with receipts. Upon reviewing them today, the entire charcoal canister and associated hoses were all replaced. :-) If I have any fuel smells or issues after replacement I'll replace the gas cap for good measure. Thanks again!
@@llovah999 I used the first link to ebay in the video description which was the overfill valve and gasket combo. Ordering the other check valve from a Lexus dealer. I would just use the part numbers provided and do your own search. You should be able to find a better deal based on your location and shipping rates.
My IS has a hesitation here snd rhere j chsnged the pedal acceleration sensor snd it helped for a bit but now rhe hesitation is back!! Not all rhe time tho. Could thid be why it hesitates here snd there
Can someone verify that all of those part numbers are correct? I'm getting "fuel tank roll over valve" to pull up for both 77340-53010 and 77390-53010.
I took my time, painted the tank and also filmed so can’t really say. But if you did this on the ground with some help and didn’t paint or clean, I would guess 4 hours if all goes smoothly.
Far as things like gas tank, the pump and inner components should all be the same. I know some engine wiring I'd different but far as parts go they're almost always identical
you actually don’t know how much i needed this video

I don’t they ever intended for this valve to be poor quality and crack.

99.9% of IS300 will experience this issue in their lifetime. It’s guaranteed the valve due to to the crack.
@@TunerwithKids lol, my code is back, apparently not the gas cap. Just ordered all 4 parts to do this right

Thank you for doing it properly and not chopping the car

Yea beat time to do it. May want to do the hoses too just in case. Some people may have really brittle hoses.

@@vmc2216think you can link the stuff you ordered

Much appreciated for sharing this
What’s that other valve called that’s right next to the one you replaced
Nvm
damn replace my gas cap, but code came back 4 weeks later seems i have to bring to a shop to do this.
You’re a legend!

No this is for emissions and doesn’t affect performance. Clogged cats, VVTI filter, dirty air filter could all be contributing to hesitation
did you ever find the issue? my car had an issue with hesitating and loosing power under throttle, and it ended up being spark plugs
Fyi a lift is recommended doing this job😭but a jack will do
Lift is a luxury but can be done with wheel cribs and a jack.
Hope you changed the fuel pump to avoid dropping the tank down. Again!
Fuel pump is accessible via hole under seat.
So what happens if you never change this? Assuming it never actually completely breaks.
Check engine light.

I have both these codes showing up and my fuel tank drains in 2 days. Could this be causing my fuel tank to drain so fast?
No. That sounds like a leak?
I have this same problem for my is300 :( what do you recommend I wouldn’t be able to do this
Only way unless you pay a shop
Watch the videos using a grinder
I actually need to do this sooner than later. How long did this take you from start to finish?

Same
What are those red bars?
Check my video on installing those Megan support bars.
I might need to do this to my car I got the same code
99% of all IS300 will experience this at some point (sounds like an ED or hair lost commercial 😂😂😂)
@@TunerwithKids I wonder how much they will charge for this job 🤔
Would these part number work for a 2001 IS300?
Yea. Should all be same.
