style matters because it trains not only your physical strength and knowledge but also mental strength. you see, the lion is the king of the jungle but not for his strength or size, his the king because of his mental strength that allows him to have 100% performance and not giving up. think of muay thai, they train their body not just so they can tank hits but also build their mentality up to keep charging forward and keep attacking. certain styles is a game changer, if you just learn wingchun or akido, you phyiscally cant attack first or even try your moves. because these two martial arts relies on your opponents attacking first but its also very complex and confusing on what move you should use as your in that situation, your brain either blanks out or overthink causing you to not do anything at all and all you can do is wait for your opponent attacks till you eventually get knocked out. wrestling is another S tier martial art, train mentality so you can actually attack without havin to think or overthink. like you physically just do it, theres nothing else to it so its really simple and easy. charge forward, be passive aggressive and yeah there you have it. for karate specifically though, same concept. kyokushin karate trianing seems to be more brutal making it more effective as your used to danger and can actually move toward danger. most martial art are turtle shell, meanin you either keep stepping backwards tryin to avoid constant attacks or you keep blocking to once again, avoid constant attacks. havin no openings and your brain simply cant function for you to attack back. do boxing, get used to the pressure because you’ll be cornered so many times that your forced to fight back. sometimes you dont need to find an opening, what you need is to create an opening, thats why aggressive martial arts dominates. brute force, brute strength, thats why mike tyson dominated
