You did a excellent job of explaining the controls and demonstrating the peculiarities of operating a cable backhoe. The hoist and drag are interelated as you described and demonstrated. It's not like a cable shovel in that you can operate the hoist and crowd independently! Love the video, very well done.

Thanks Mario, glad you enjoyed. Wish I could post more videos of the machines operating, but I’ve got no one to do the filming and I am at extreme odds with the you-tube video editor.

That was cool ! ! ! ! I could not imagine a 8 to 12 hour work shift rocking and rolling in one of these for 30 years. As fun as it would be to start out doing, 30 minutes in, arms and legs and back would be tired... WOW, how the hydraulic systems have changed the industry.. Thank you for sharing this... it was really neat to see the complexity of the daily life of what these workers endured ..

You said it 😀a lot more difficult than a hydraulic excavator as the old saying goes IT SEPARATES THE MEN FROM THE BOYS 😂Thanks for that demonstration I really enjoyed it nice and handy little machine!
    Keep that old iron running!

Very informative! One of the smaller cable excavators made back then.

T hats a sweet little feller! That hoe is a complicated bit of co-ordination to run. I had it about figured out but you fine-tuned it.That's how I learned to run the first crane, a 22-B was to watch but to do it was another story. Just get in it and go at it. I was a giant fly swat till I got to where I could check the swing. Then things started to smooth out and speed up. GREAT VIDEO!! If I'd had one of those on the 22-B i'd been a lot less dangerous!!

Controls are way different than the link belt I have. The levers pull toward the operator with it. That is a nice little machine.

Thanks! It is still a work in progress. Plan to have the shovel front operating this summer.

Digginok, would you have any videos explaining the procedure for steering and propelling a link belt speeder ls 50?

Ive watched your videos over each a few times now.Love this stuff.Ill be bringing home a 10 b with dragline setup and cable backhoe setup later this spring.May be asking you for some guidance on it,if it gets running.Just bought my first cable machine last week,a Koehring 205 dragline, runs, but sat bit too long to move itself.

Congrats on your finds. The 10b's are pretty scarce these days. If you have any questions be sure to send me an email, I check it almost daily, but my youtube account not so much. I am by no means an expert, but have done a crazy amount of work to my machine. I hope to do a video in a few months covering all the repairs made, and those still to come.

its 5 hours away, with 2.5 feet of snow still.it is a 1953 ,i have pics of it.has a 235 inline gasoline 6cyl. chevy truck engine, that the guy said wasnt very good for that application. So i got the koehring for 3000$ figuring i now have a good 2-71 detroit to put in the 10b.It has sat at least 15 years, current owner got it in 1982,for farm use, didnt use it much.

Don't think the 10b ever came with a Detroit, but that is a great choice for the motor. Like to see some pics and video of it some day.

What a great video! That lil Buda looks happy with fresh paint! Why does it look like the colors on the rest of the machine are fading??? ☺️

UnitCrane514 Thanks Mike, it is getting there a little at a time. The backhoe boom was just painted, but all 3 of my machines are faded and oxidized from being out in the weather. Maybe next go around I can clearcoat them so they look good a bit longer.

Very nice. You need to get some video's of them up on RUclips. Not much available on either of those machines.

I can see why this wasn't successful. Too many important functions that are interconnected when they need to be independent.
