- The Bronx Zoo (also historically the Bronx Zoological Park and the Bronx Zoological Gardens) is a zoo within Bronx Park in the Bronx, New York. It is one of the largest zoos in the United States by area and is the largest metropolitan zoo in the United States by area, comprising 265 acres (107 ha) of park lands and naturalistic habitats separated by the Bronx River. On average, the zoo has 2.15 million visitors each year as of 2009. The zoo's original permanent buildings, known as Astor Court, were designed as a series of Beaux-Arts pavilions grouped around the large circular sea lion pool. The Rainey Memorial Gates were designed by sculptor Paul Manship in 1934 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
Today, the Bronx Zoo is world-renowned for its large and diverse animal collection, and its award-winning exhibitions. The zoo is part of an integrated system of four zoos and one aquarium managed by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), and it is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

Definitely one of the absolute best zoos I've ever been to but I find it challenging to see everything in the zoo in one go without rushing
Totally agree! I wasn't able to see everything during my visit. I am planning a return visit this year to see the area's I missed.
It took me and my family 5 hours to tour the zoo and we still missed the world of birds, the bison, the pheasants and the deer
As someone who has been to this zoo that I love going to ever since I was a kid, I absolutely adore how up to date the Zoo manages to hold up with their animal exhibits plus their message of conservation never fails to inspire me to this day.
Thank you for showing my favorite zoo, Tom! ^^
Thank You, I'm happy you enjoyed my tour. I was quite pleased with the Bronx Zoo. The habitats we're fantastic, lots of viewing area's. Conservation is very important to me, they do a lot of important work too.
@@TomsRoadTrippin No problem! ^^
I'm 75 years old, born and raised New Yorker. Made a career in the military and retired in Virginia Beach, Va. My parents took me and my sister to the zoo in the 50's and 60's. A lot of memories but was in sticker shock seeing the admission prices. OMG!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah the prices have jumped a lot, most zoos are around $15 to $20. It's a fantastic zoo so it was worth the admission for me. Thank You for sharing the memories with me. 😊
Nice Zoo! For the zoo in my country, the sea lion exhibit is now using the manatee's old exhibit (they moved to River Safari in 2013 and the same exhibit was always used for showtimes but not no more) and the penguin enclosure is just beside the sea lion exhibit.
Lots of zoo's move animals around to other facilities. Either for breeding or for better suited habitats. Plus it frees up habitats for new animal types or more space.
@@TomsRoadTrippin true.
It is nice to see you again at another zoo and it is showing where the animals come from and the sign posted and it nice to see the animals out and about for children to see them thanks Tom
Thank you very much! 😁
Wow thank you for showing me this zoo I just went last march and had a fantastic time hope you enjoyed just as much as I did!
I enjoyed my visit very much, since I ran out of time, I plan to return this year to aee the stuff I missed.
You are the best Tom
Thank You, I'm glad you enjoyed 😊

Heading to NYC in September for my birthday. Not sure whether to do the Central Park Zoo or Bronx Zoo, but from the looks of it, it looks as if you need half a day to complete this one. Got a few months to decide but the Bronx Zoo looked great! New subscriber! Enjoyed it!
I would definitely recommend the Bronx Zoo. It's a fantastic facility with lots to experience. The Central Park Zoo is a good stop if your expiring the ciry.
thats on my bucket list. We watched the entire thing at work awesome, good job
I highly recommend a visit, it's such a great zoo. I really liked that they still have some of the original buildings in use. I hope you get to the Bronx Zoo someday. I'm glad you enjoyed my tour 😁
@@TomsRoadTrippin thanks for the response I hope so too!
Great job. Looks diffic
What an amazing zoo!
It really is amazing
👍 zoo! Impressed!
Very much so, the indoor exhibits we're fantastic.
Wanted to see this zoo
Now you have, virtually anyway.
NEW YORK ON TOP 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hi tom I really loved this video It reminds me from when I used to visit the Bronx zoo. I was just at this zoo in September 2021 looking forward to part 2
Glad you enjoyed it Zachary. This is such a great zoo, I missed a few areas as I simply ran out of time. I'll be going back again this year to experience the skipped area's.
The bunny was losing his fur, reminds me of when Teddy a Galiceno/Percheron from Promise Landing Farm was losing his winter coat.
Thanks for the info 🙂
I'm hoping to visit this May when the Monorail opens! I'm quite the animal nerd, so I'm hoping to cross a lot of the animals off my bucket list. Unfortunately for me, I can't really find a complete list of ALL the species they have, so I'm thankful for videos like yours! Thank you! 🦏
I too will be returning in May, I missed several area's om my initial visit. The Asia monorail was one of them.
I’m impressed that it was a perfectly sunny day in January lol (I’m going in April)
Sadly I won’t be seeing the Asian monorail 🚝 But really I’m just upset about the Indian rhino :(
I hope you have an awesome time
2:57 where’s that music coming from?
It's just background music the zoo plays near the entrance plaza.
Jurassic World camp cretaceous Is a great animated show
I didn't have the tine to see the show's
Our zoo sustained damage from the storms out in California but thankfully no animals were hurt.
That is good the animals stayed safe. Things can be repaired but the safety of the animals is the important part.
What zoo?
I haven't been to the Bronx Zoo in 60 years
So much has changed since then, I'm sure it's a lot bigger too.
there’s king Julian!
Have you gone to anyother Zoos when you were a kid besides this one and the Lowry Park Zoo
Lion County Safari and a few smaller places that I don't quite remember.
Hello Tom Greeting from Chile 🇨🇱
Hello from the 🇺🇸 Thank You 😁
They have stuff that's not on the maps also.
Hopefully I'll find some of them on my visit this year.
Starting with a biggie - though I personally refuse to go if they are still doing timed tickets.
it doesn't matter, you can just get any time and they'll let you in
Not sure when timed entry will end. It does help give people a chance to see animals without hundreds of people clustered together.
Second part plis
Part two will be out Thursday
@@TomsRoadTrippin EXCELLENT !

If I remember correctly werent you born in New York
I was actually born on Mars but moved to Florida when I was a baby. Most people assume it would have been Pluto since I'm so Goofy
@@TomsRoadTrippinalso I know you said you went to that zoo when you were 7 or 8 was the reason you were there because you were visiting your aunt in New York
@@user-vi7bi4qs1y at that time the majority of my family lived there. It was a family reunion so we all got together. Sadly most of them are gone now, that's what happens when you get older, all the siblings of my parents died off
@@TomsRoadTrippin that's unfortunate I'm sorry
@@user-vi7bi4qs1y As I said, that happens to everyone eventually I'm 50 now so over the years I've lost all of my Aunts and Uncle except one
Wayyyy too expensive wtf...
Yeah it is very expensive, but it was worth it.
@@TomsRoadTrippin SAN DIEGO ZOO is Very expensive , a short time ago it was at least 60 Dollars for Adults.
That is crazy high, prices are getting out of hand at some places. My guess is as costs increase that is passed on to us.
@@TomsRoadTrippin I have Membership to the Oregon Zoo & costs only $ 59. I can visit as many times as I Like . In 2017 what would have been Packy the Elephant's 55th Birthday , " He was euthanized two months before His Birthday " , I visited the Oregon Zoo 55 times . Usually I visit at least a dozen times.
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Most zoo's I've been to cost less than $20 so this was quite higher than 95%. I guess if they charge such a high price, and people continue to go, they get away with it. 😕
