I have all 3 of the saddles you demonstrated and your analysis is spot on. I love the XC, but I’ll be running the lockdown this season. I’ve sat in the lockdown a couple times since I got it and it is as comfortable as the XC. The pouches and suspenders setup on the lockdown is a game changer.
Nice thing is that since this video was made, Tethrd came out with a Lockdown Yoke System that easily attaches to all saddles, including the Cruzr. It's a great, cost efficient solution for some of the problems you mentioned in this video.
As I watched this video, I found myself fully agreeing with everything you said, especially the dump pouches. I was wondering if it was just me lol, but I have literally got pissed off in the tree at my own gear haha. I have the Cruzer XC and I ended up getting the Tethrd Suspender kit because it wants to fall. Luckily the guys at Tehrd include multiple attachment systems and they had one that will work with the Cruzr XC. It actually solved the problem, but I am strongly thinking about purchasing a lockdown. The main reasons are the suspender system is even better on it, the panel expander looks better imo and the biggest reason is the built in sys haulers. I one stick so I have a bunch of rope to contend with and all attachments i have on my Cruzr and where you said the dump pouches can attach are not ideal and make it a pain. I don't have long arms and I am not in the best of shape anymore, this is a massive issue for me in the tree and on the ground I find myself actually twisting the saddle around so I can store my rappel rope. I will say though the Cruzr XS has been a very good saddle and very comfortable, just not ideal for me. Question, do you think the Lockdown pouch would hold 40 foot of canyon rope?
The lockdown has been amazing so far this year! We are loving it and the pouches have been amazing. To answer your question i think you could fit the rope you need into the pouch as long as you have nothing else in there. God bless and stay safe!
@@wilddominionoutdoors me either it’s my first saddle and I went climbing for the first time the other day and it’s got me pumped for the season this year
We all went to saddle hunting for the minimalistic light gear approach with the ability to hunt any tree … now tetherd makes a saddle with two back packs attached lol…. i think the gear is made well… i just switched from a phantom to an XC AFTER 3 years …..I think we should all lose a few pounds to make reaching past our midline easier lol myself too lol
Why can't you use tethered saddle bags with cruzr saddle? Thats what i did. I dont see the reason to give up the cruzr saddle just for the storage bags
@wilddominionoutdoors2273 yeah they look great I admit 100%. I struggle the same way with the old pouches. I put a cruzr pouch and a tethrd (old style) pouch on my cruzr saddle. You can't put lockdown bags on a cruzr saddle? Just assumed you could buy them separately
You said there are some things that the lockdown can’t compete with the XC? Do you mind elaborating? I just sent back my XC and purchased the lockdown.
The primary thing we had in mind was the very distinct, red, lineman’s loops on the Cruzr XC, in addition to the 2 types of mollie webbing. But having now spent more time in the Lockdown, we’re all about it. Might be just as comfortable as the Cruzr, and runs more functional.
@@wilddominionoutdoors that’s exactly the answer I was looking for. They had an XL in stock so hopefully that size in the lockdown won’t be like wearing a gown on me 🤣 I’m 5’9 and 230 for reference…
@@wilddominionoutdoors another question, I am a 36/38 waist at 5’9 and 230lb. I bought the XL. Can you comment on the size you got and how it fits you?

Thank you for the feedback! We agree with you. Good luck this season!
I have suspenders on my Cruzer xc I bought them on Amazon, and it works great for me
Thanks for the feedback. Good luck stay safe!
If you don’t mind me asking what suspenders did you buy for your XC on Amazon?
That’s a fine archery 🏹 range right there I tell you what!!

Absolutely!! We actually made the switch to the LOCKDOWN and couldn’t be happier. God bless!

I One Stick w/ my Lockdown & it easily stores 40’ of Rope
I’ve only had my lockdown for a week and love it
Its been great so far! Cant wait for season!

Hahahaha thanks for the comment! Good luck this fall!
I have the archon and might switch. Only issue I can see is how does the suspenders work with a bino harness?
Not sure. We run our bino packs on our hys straps instead of on our chest. We have found that to be more convenient while in a saddle.
Im in the same boat. I absolutely love my cruzer xc but those bags are terrible. Might make the switch myself
Its been a great switch for us!
I was having the same issue with my saddle so i just put my bridge over my neck, and it keeps the saddle from falling down as i walk in.
Thats always a great option of your trying to save money!

The lockdown pouches are a lot different than a regular tethrd pouch. One hand operation and the size of them are unmatched.

I took my pouch’s off my saddle ,I just put everything thing in my small backpack works for me
I would think running ur tethyr down lower would take away ur hip pinch. Lots of ways to get rid of the pinch.
Agreed. So many ways to adjust in a saddle to be comfortable just have to mess around!
Can you purchase the tetherd bags for your XC?
Yessir you can. Molles work together
The pouches on the lockdown are sewn in
Just put trophyline zippered pouches on your XC?
That could be an option but those do not have the frame for one handed operation so they still do not do what we wanted.
Try the jx3
Maybe for 2024 we will try put some new saddles!
Timber ninja blackbelt has them all beat
I'm assuming you've tried them all?
@@keithstrunk1960 the xc cruiser, phantom, menace, tx5, lockdown, xop. So yeah I've tried a few
We may have to try it someday!
@@mikeguy9668 Wow! I'd like to meet your accountant and have him help me out :).
I’ll buy your saddle if you want to sell it.
Thank you but it already sold before the season.
Do Hwhat? Can’t hear nothin you sayin
Not sure why you cannot hear anything. We have not had any other comments saying this???
Terrible audio…
Are you using headphones and what device are you on? Audio is perfect on our end…
Great video but I agree about the audio. It was mostly the car noise in the cruzr xc part.
