- Bernardo Faria was one of my favorite competitors to watch in BJJ. As a big guy who played a great half guard game, I loved watching what he did in order to become a 4x BJJ World Champion.
In this video from our recent podcast episode with him I took a minute to pick his brain on what kind of training habits he had in order to become a multiple time world champ and one of the best BJJ competitors around.
The advice in the video is priceless for your Brazilian Jiu-jitsu training whether you're a competitor or not. So I hope you listen to it and take it to heart as you continue on your own path.
Thanks for watching.

What a yuuuuuge honor!
I've seen many people training in my life and nobody trained like Bernardo. He is the most impressive guy I saw in terms of intensity. He is definitely one of the best of all time! Great interview!
13 sessions a week, plus weight training. I feel beat up if I train 5x a week. That's commitment!
well he probably didnt have to earn money when he did train 13times a week
Its all in the schedule, and how much you can stick to it. I lift in the morning, go to work, then jiujitsu in the evening. 5 times a week, maybe 1 or 2 more over on a good week.
Also, there is a good amount of conditioning that you have work up too. Pay attention to your body.
Five a week? I trained thrice last week and laid in bed all weekend making dad noises.
@@rubenquezada3999 lol what do you work part time
I’m 41. 7 kids and two jobs (one part time) plus my wife has her career. I train jj five days a week for 90 minutes and I lift four days a week. Jj training is usually self defense, technique, specific training then live for about 30 minutes. For lifting I only do compound lifts and get in 120 reps per body part, per 7 days, and I hit each body part twice in those seven days (ex. chest Monday 60 reps and chest Thursday 60 reps) This routine doesn’t destroy my body and I still have lots of free time for my family. I hope this can help anyone trying to balance jj, weights, a family and a career. God bless.
Are you still alive?
"I would shake hands and pull half guard" that is awesome lol #respect
Hugeee Honer to be able to watch this.
It would be a HGHUUUUUGE honor for me to watch the whole podcast, Im a huge fan of Bernardo and yours, maybe Danaher, Gordon or Craig next?
Maybe.
I’m so thankful this channel is here!
Thx chewy

I second this
I third this
One of my favorite. You both helped me a lot in my game. Thanks!
thank you for this wonderful content, very big coincidence coz i want to return on mma
Thats some awesome advice! I've been training 3 years, and I'm still surprised how much I learn about my own body from different tweeks, tightness, or failed techniques. Always learning! Thanks for the video! An awesome reminder to be evaluating yourself
Sparring...cardio...nutrition
Most important I think it's actually REST
Make a video on the baratoplata and how to finish it please because there isn't any on how to cleanly finish it on youtube
He stayed 10 - 13 classes a day. How long have this classes been? Thanks for the awnser.
I think he meant 13 sessions per week
@@ICEMPIREdemon Thank you. God bless America
Mister Bernardo Bambino Faria❤
Was hoping he'd say do some push ups but I heard roll with Marcelo Garcia 13 times a week instead. LMAO!
Isn't he a 5x World Champion?
How do we watch the full podcast
there was once a dude who said "take what is useful" that dude was Bruce Lee.
Bernardo BJJ Bruce Lee confirmed???
I feel advantageous now. RAWRGWAWGGRRAAGRGGRGAAWWAAAWW!!!
I like just holl. But then again i no champ.
This is why i don't but the "khabib never taps at the gym" thing, if a 4 time bjj champion taped once a day there is no way anybody never taps imo
He trains in Dagestan, it may just be there he’s the guy and nobody is on his level. Just a guess
@@CalebSpears1 je also trains at Aka in the us, but maybe you are right, je maybe doesn't train with élite grapplers like the Renzo academy deth squad
Wonder how he'd do at ADCC
No one gonna mention the post lockdown guns on chewie?
Currently training 18 bjj sessions a week. Wanna follow the same path as bernardo!
@@MonkeyHop hope you succeed!
