Honestly I really like how Intel came into the GPU market and actually made something decent instead of failing. Good job Intel!
After the drivers mature, Intel will provide incredible value for low to mid tier GPUs.
We desperately needed a competitor with sane prices in the current GPU marketplace. Great job Intel indeed!
@thecouchtripper sounds like someones potato doesnt support rebar lmao
@thecouchtripper it's like two clicks.....
@thecouchtripper Yeah but it is a bit better than I expected. And well Intel is a bit new to the GPU market so I did not expect them to deliver anything close to NVIDIA or AMD
really hope they wont cancel their gpu division. if they struggle on and iron out the bad in reasonable time, then i can say " good job!"
If you want even more confusion get an ASUS motherboard. There you have "Re-Size BAR support" enabled/disabled and then in the top menu (but only there) a "Re-Size BAR" ON/OFF switch. If you only enable the support you still don't have Re-Size BAR enabled ... wow.
WHY? why would they do that? I litteraly cannot think of a single time that would be a good idea. It's litteraly adding a "do you really want to use this feature?" button after it's asked you like 3 times already....
Can confirm this as I spent 2 months with what I thought was resize bar support being on until I looked in Nvidia control panel and it showed as off but in the Bios it said it was on. Thanks Asus! 👍
The Bar Strikes Back: Return of the Jumper Switch 😆
You dont? Oh shoot
How do you turn it on then?
Yeah, I guess it sort of makes sense. In case of instability perhaps or to toggle between games maybe? Because adding the option in AMD/NVIDIA driver software is a bit annoying..but there is a niche use case
Thanks for the follow up, I was a little confused to as why my Arc A750 was performing better than the A770, but I'm glad you followed up with an explanation. This is why I love your channel. Keep up the great content!
How going so far? This launch is so weird i actually interested in getting one, when it arrive in my country of course, the sensible choice would be to get a establish one but i just rly curious, so curious i would buy less them a "high end" card.
@@BrutalButtSlap Perhaps wait a little more until the drivers get better, but if you want to buy a gpu sooner then go for amd or nvidia
@@gamin546 yeah for sure, like i said just curiosity rly, we don't even have the new gen "mid high spec" cards still (4060,4070, 7700, 7800).
My curiosity is the real world usage, does it crash lot? just a little buggy (mean still usable) or just a little slow
@@BrutalButtSlap I know it probably doesn't matter now, but I got one recently and it's been great so far!
"I made a mistake. Here is what I did wrong, Here are the updated results." LOVE THIS. As a side note, there are members of the x79/x99 enthusiast community that have been modding BIOS to support Rebar. Supposedly, nearly ANY PCIE 3.0 system can be modded. Neat 'eh? I wasn't a big fan of the idea that many NEW GPUs have reverse compatibility issues, but it's nice to see people working hard to enable ReBar. As it stands, rebar only has official support on x299, Desktop Intel 8th gen or newer, and AMD B450/X470 and newer.
I don't love it. I think admitting to your mistakes is a sign of weakness. I think he should have just doubled down and said it was the youtube comments that were wrong.
@@jeremyphillips3087 lol
@@jeremyphillips3087 lol, I wonder if anybody will take that literally.
now mod the Intel DZ87KLT-75K and find some weird way to make intel ssd work with it, now you need just ram, with that you have justa rly bad only intel pc.
I sure some aesthetic modding you can make look like same pakage as A770 hell i sure there is even a Intel Water cooler for the i7-4790K
Currently using chinese x79 motherboard and modded my bios to have ReBAR enabled...
I like that Dawid is willing to do these sort of updates based on feedback. Not everyone does that as long as they got their views on the original video.
Re-Bar especially helps low level render APIs like DX12 and Vulkan. GTA5 runs on DX11, which helps having it one especially on Intel GPUs but not as much. In general, the Arc GPUs seem to be designed with low level APIs in mind, wich also explains their lackluster performance in older APIs.
Kinda hoped he test DXVK with GTA 5 there
Enabling resizable bar + increasing the power limite to 228w or the maximum allowed + oc will make a huge diffrence with the 770
What about a750 ?
@@avrahazra9869 All arc GPUs require resize BAR to be enabled. It's an oddity of the way the memory architecture of all arc GPUs work.
Maybe you should make it into a series: "the state of the Intel Arc Driver" and check out the performance every couple of weeks/months to see if the "hidden potential" of the Intel GPU is slowly revealed or it will stay rotten forever...
It has been getting better, but last major WHQL release was underwhelming, at best.
Hey dawid, also thought you should know there is a program known as dxvk that is able to replace dx 11, 10 and 9 games to run through Vulcan, which the ARC cards are much better at running.
I second that, would love to see a review with dxvk
I wanted to say that, but you took the words right out of my mouth. I think RandomGaminginHD did a video on it.
Didn't know that exists on windows. But I've used it on Linux with proton all the time and it works great.
@@dotmatrixmoe He did, he used dxvk on gta 4 and the performance literally doubled and the stutters were no more
@El Cactuar thanks, I tried to spell it correctly but autocorrect doesn't know the difference
Three monts ago i bought the cheapest RX 6600 that i could find in my country, a Powercolor Fighter model. Resizable Bar made a huge difference for my card. I had around 20fps with massive stutters in demanding games, but with ReBar enabled i got 60 or more frames per second. My motherboard is an Aorus b450i pro wifi and my cpu is a Ryzen 5 3600.
Props to you @Dawid for realising your mistake, owning up and publishing an update, because it really did seem like you may not have had it enabled because your huge stuttering was something a lot of other reviewers commented on without rebar, and the Intel engineers themselves highlighted really should be enabled.
Alas my system with its 10700k is stuck with a motherboard with no Rebar support, but I have a 3080 anyway, so it's not so catastrophic lol
What motherboard? My B460M has rebar support and I'm using a 10400F
@@IPendragonI a really crap Acer motherboard that they refused to update to expose rebar despite it being a relatively high end machine...
Is it really a mistake when you have to enable a completely obscure setting that almost nobody will know about just to get the performance that you paid for?
@@alexrose1ukv2Maybe someone online has made a custom bios adding support. Worth checking out.
@@wanderingwobb6300 unfortunately not :(
That cooler in the PC looks sooo cool! It's glowing!
THANK GOD
Your previous arc video really scared me out of arc for a while
HUGE ANIME BREASTS
You're not alone in not finding this setting. I have a Gigabyte Z590 UD AC motherboard and it took me a loooong time to realize that it had resizable bar available. Because of that above 4G Encoding setting hiding it! I have an RTX 3080 so turning it on doesn't do much for performance though.
Was waiting for this exact follow up, as always thanks for making cool content for us, I would also love to see a follow up video about VA displays with the samsung Odyssey g7 version.
I hope you doing well Dawid.
I like how this video is super short but still has the amazing Dawid quality :D
Hey Dawid, you should try using ARC GPU's with VXVK enabled. The vulkan drivers for the intel cards are much more fleshed out so it would be interesting to see the vulkan performance compared to dx11 or dx12.
DXVK not VXVK
It's more that it runs vulkan and dx12 well, but uses compatbility layers for many older things and doesn't really support a lot of old stuff natively. Their translation layers though are surprisingly.. amazingly good with little errors.
You should try DXVK that could improve performance in some games
Hate to be that guy but your Arc control shows the driver you are using has the bug specifically to the A770 where the ram is downclocked to 2000mhz. There is a beta driver that fixes this available on Intel's Github.
Doesn't stop it being a bit crashy and it still craps the bed when trying to wake from a sleep state though
I enabled this for my arc A750 on an MSI b550 board. It literally doubled my fps in most games. Thanks!
a small tipp from me, i only play on A770 and while its in a lot games actually trash (mostly caused by the not native support of dx9) but if you want every bit performance just go to performance tuning and slide the power consuming to full. the other ones can crash and cause artefact so just do the power one
Stepping on a lego is pleasurable compared to a landmine hahaha xDD
Glad I caught this old vid. I'm planning on getting an intel ARC card but was afraid of some of the hitches. This makes a huge difference and I'll definitely check out your vids as a guide. Thanks.
For transcoding 4K video on Linux, ReBAR is also effectively 100% necessary. It's a difference of 3 frames a second and 100 frames a second.
Also look into DXVK which replaces the slow DX9toDX11 Emulator the ARC Driver uses with Vulcan (as far as i understand it) which will speed up older Games.
That's DX9toDX12 iirc but yea also really want to see more benchmarks on DXVK with Arc
@@FakeMichau the problem is that some games detect it with "cheat program"
For $350, I am very impressed with my A770.
It's now 230$ open box at Microcenter
@@tenkayruanaya2554 An even better deal, especially since all the driver work that has been done over the last several months.
The Arc A380 is available where I'm from (the Philippines) at about the same price or even less than the prices the RX 6400goes for here. I've had to dissuade, or at least inform, some people looking to buy them, driver immaturity be damned, because many of them were looking to use them with older motherboards that don't support ReBar.
This card is gonna age like a fine wine
I completely agree. Interested to see how it performs a year from now.
@@DawidDoesTechStuff Maybe have a video testing it and the new drivers every couple months ? Would be awesome to see how far it comes.
Honestly fron the benchmarks the intel arc gpus are not bad at all! Tho it has it issues but it is intels first gpu so props to them and hope to see what intel comes up with in the future and great video as always dawid!
Cyberbug 2077 is the game intel is most proud of. And intel ARC does run great on that game. I been testing the A770 on the "Z370" Aorus Gaming 7 with a 5GHz 9900K and ReBar was also behind the 4G option. It does run great though.
Cyberbug !? The game is a mastahpiece ! You are just hatter.
The Lego landmine line is going to get some mileage in my life - thanks Dawid.
It's one heck of an achievement Intel. Drivers now basically make the same performance as 3070 Ti / 6800 Xt. Really crazy the next Intel GPU, now around the corner, is going to flaw NVidia & AMD
3070ti/6800XT performance... WHAT!??!?!
on behaft of the 10 people who brought ARC many thanks mate
can't wait to play Arc survival evolved
If you disable CSM (Legacy BIOS Support) and turn on Above 4g and ALSO Resizable BAR, your Windows may not boot. That's because you probably have MBR for your windows hard drive instead of GPT. So, you can run a Windows command MBR2GPT to first convert MBR to GPT (I've done it on two machines now and there are plenty of videos on this). Then after GPT, you can disable CSM and Enable Resize bar. Keep in mind only certain CPU's and GPU's can take advantage (also must enable in GPU software like SAM in Radeon).
The analogy of the LEGO vs land mine made me spit my coffee through my nose. Thanks. 😅
for asrock it's called C.A.M (Clever Access Memory) you find it in 'Advanced/Chipset Configuration'
Why do they have come up with fancy names for features that already have a name... These mainboard brands really don't know what they are selling.
I have this exact motherboard and I just checked. Yep resizeable bar off. I have a 6700xt, I've probably been leaving performance on the table.
Glad to see Intel are getting into the GPU game, having a third player on the market makes things better for everyone. Hopefully in the future they'll be a bit more reliable.
This resizes my bar.
on one of Intel Graphics videos, somebody asked Ryan Shrout about resizable bar, and Tom Petersen just kept saying "turn it on" over and over as Ryan read the question, every time I hear somebody talk about resizable bar that's stuck in my head.
I have an intel arc a380 6gb and i dont have this setting turned on yet, im using it for fortnite and just got a 180hz monitor and i was experiencing every 3 second like frame drops to 5 fps and my maximum was like 200, its very fustrating so as soon as i get home im turning this on! Thank you so much for the explanation!!!🌚
I just bought an a770 and this video is amazing thank you dawid!!
DAWID LOOK AT YOUR COMMENTS! also i got my hands on an arc a380 I live in the uk but I'm sure if i could get one I'm sure you could get one
I have an Acer A380 that I got with a prebuilt for some testing, and even though DX12 runs at higher framerate DX11 runs so much smoother. The average fps is 30% less with DX11 but the 0.1% lows are (I kid you not) 419% better
419%? Almost nice.
I like when RUclipsrs do update videos about things like GPUs or games, like Nvidia driver update or when FSR 2.1 came out for cyberpunk. It's nice comparing the 2 videos and seeing the difference :D
If it's rebar you need, just head on down to Home Depot or ask politely at a construction site.
...Couldn't resist.
The UI on the X670 is the current one. Gigabyte changed it in recent BIOS updates. Was very confusing before.
I agree with Steve’s (Gamers Nexus) comment, and I thought the same, that Intel should focus on getting its display drivers and game drivers working first before adding all the features to its driver list.
Agreed. The fact it shipped with them this bad is a bit upsetting but they seem to be slowly getting better and better. I do think that in a years time this card will definitely be better.
Respect for double checking this my South African/Robot/Canadian overlord - may your videos continue to shower rainbows over the internet *ahem* :P
*sigh* Oh Dawid, you silly goose.
You fixed one problem but missed yet another. A770 in 1080P is half the performance as 1440P.
I know, it's counter-intuitive, but for whatever reason the "sweet spot" for Arc is 1440P, with 4k performance still being equal to or greater than 1080P.
Most GPUs have a linear negative correlation, meaning highest performance in lower resolution with larger resolutions correlated to lower performance.
Arc's distribution is closer to a bell curve: lower low-resolution performance that peaks at 1440P before beginning to drop again as resolutions exceed 1440P.
Hope this helps...I've been testing the crap out of this card since I got one a week after launch. It's kinda crap if you try to run 1080P so Arc needs a 1440P or 3k panel at minimum
Once you find that sweet spot and tweak the sliders in Arc Control, this thing puts up one hell of a fight.
@El Cactuar 1920x1080: 1080P FHD
2560x1440: 1440P 2K QHD
2880x1620: 3K UHD
3840x2160: 4K UHD
(Assuming 16:9 aspect ratio)
I bought an A770 out of curiosity, been having a few issues like not waking my main monitor on boot, and my Valve Index doesn't work on it either... ReBAR works just fine and it's the first thing I put on but the other two are annoying
I wonder how they work for vr gaming, say...on an index.
Re-Bar is a must for Intel's Arc GPUs.
So HONEST, Awesome Tripple tumbs !!
I know you probably couldn’t make this but a “Linoooode” T-shirt would be awesome 😊
Many thanks for the update, and kudos to admitting fault; were that only more common in the world nowadays.
i like the intel gpu's. they'll get better over time with updates. no company that launched gpu's for the first time had them perfect from the start. gonna take some time to sort things out.
Hey Dawid, some very smart guys made a workaround to enable resizable bar in some older platforms, how about that for a video idea?
I dont think he ever do these software tinkering stuff
Let's not torture him that much
Dude I have the x590 elite ax, this helped me a lot. Thank you! I know I haven't even finished the video yet, but I've been looking for info on the bios for a while and it's hard to find
Wait! You been using the a770 without rebar this whole time?
@@konrad999999 I don't have the a770, but yes i just found the rebar setting in my bios and it has been off. I have the GTX 970 which I know doesn't support rebar but when I do get an a770 or a 4070 or a 6800xt or whatever, all depends on how much I want to spend, no performance will be left on the table!
Just to be perfectly clear, this is Intel's first time at bat - on *anything* to do with gpu's.
Their driver framework and interaction with DirectX is still clearly a work in progress, but again, this is all new territory for Intel.
I think it's noble that they're (Intel) doing regression testing with DirectX to try making their cards work on even DX9. If nothing else, it shows Intel's GFX Division is dedicated to making their ARC range work with as wide an array of h/w, both new and old, as possible.
That's definitely not something you can say with some AMD and Nvidia cards, as i have had game installs not even proceed when trying to install a DX9 based game title (e.g. MOHAA) on a system with Windows 7/8/8.1 and a GTX 980 or Vega 56.
This is great stuff from Intel, and i see really bright things ahead of them in their next gen' gpu's :)
Nice video update. Even he updates the naming. From Intel Airbus A770 to Intel Arc A770. Wish he keeps saying Intel Airbus.

When the rebar hits the road, Arc stops running like your grand father and starts running like your over weight, forever single Uncle. Gotcha
Yeah but if end users have to jump through hoops to to get decent performance (not just a small bump like Nvidia and AMD) intel is doing something wrong. I'm glad they re entering the GPU market, hopefully the next generation of ARC will be better.
this prompted me to check and find out that my 3070 didn't have the ReBAR fw installed. just updated, and things are already better
I have an Intel A750 installed in a system which doesn't support Resizable BAR, which is nice. I have another system that does support it but the video card (an RTX 2080ti) doesn't support it so now I don't know what to do. The 2080ti system is custom water cooled and the Intel system isn't. Also, the 2080ti is paired with m i7 11700k while the ARC gpu is paired with an i& 7700K.
I mean I would switch the two if it where me. The 7700k should be able to keep up with the 2080ti. I have the 11700k also and I'm running a 30 dollar vetroo v5 air cooler and its fine.
Most ASRock boards Ive worked with also have a setting in the boot menu that has to be turned off before you can enable decoding and resize bar. Kind of annoying.
You mentioned in the first video but never talked about it again: Have you made sure to manually select the Intel Arc graphics card in the windows settings as advised by Intel or did you leave it at "do whatever pleases you" aka. "auto"?
I dont think intel hd graphics has ray tracing
@@mustafacankoken1434 You never know! :D
Dawid it is time to do it again because the new drivers gotten much better and compare it with 3070 and 4070 and maybe and an amd card too
This Intel GPU is the Best GPU they have ever put out and holds lots of promise. I'm too am looking forward to where Intel goes from here. 👍
If you want to make some more content on the Arc gpu - test DXVK (and maybe VKD3D-proton)
It's overall performance is still... Leaving a lot to be desired. GTA 5 should be running at a higher frame rate than that, with less stutters, especially given you're only running it at 1080p. My GTX 1080 can run these games similarly or better...
Great Job admitting it Dawid you're a decent human. Now bow to the internet!

In larger software projects, which Gpu drivers certainly are, it’s not uncommon to have teams that are completely independent from each other.
It’s not surprising to see intel adding features while other teams are working on optimization. In my experience Intel is one of the best software companies out there and I bet some ux/ui team at intel is the happiest they’ve ever been,.. after years of boring business oriented products.
Let's just hope they continue to improve their drivers. Nice to see some more competition in the GPU space.
This made a HUGE difference for the stuttering. Can't understand why you say the other way several times in the video.
When I saw your older video I was really wondering if you had it on for how crappy it was working on a DX12 title, I wouldn't be surprised if it was other random game but like DX11 that would work so bad...
I mean Intel clearly said you have to enable resizable BAR and and it's actually a requirement to buy a intel GPU they clearly said that and everyone on tech news said that too everywhere so it's a very well spread known thing.
I am an amd fan and love their processors but the affordability of intel gpa can’t be beat
intel clearly need to improve their drivers for arc
Have you used programs such as Autocad, 3d Studio Máx, Maya, Blender, Corona, Encaspe, Lumión, Photoshop?
That is, Adobe programs and graphic design programs, rendering for architectural images.
Rebar is what you put into concrete for structural integrity. They need to rename this.
Rebar is what you turn on for ARC GPU for structural integrity.
I mean technically it is Resizeable Bar, but you know people, lazy and always making shortening na,es or making acronyms.
DAWID, you should do a video on Rx6700 non Xt version. Not as popular in North America as it is in Europe. It is an amazing price to performance GPU.
Hey Dawid! Love all the content. I have a suggestion for a video that seems like it would fit with some of the previous stuff you've done - I've seen some RX 5700 XT GPUs showing up on AliExpress for around $166 USD. Could you do a review on one of them to see if they are a decent deal? They are Soyo branded. Thanks again for all the videos :)
From my own experience, the Red Devil branded 5700xt is an absolutely fine 1080p/2K card with performance on par with a higher-end 2000-series Nvidia. It'll handle 4K as well, but will run hotter than the surface of the sun while doing so.
Some rando Aliexpress 5700xt I'm not so sure about.
the arc cards rgb is so pretty and sleek
Too bad about all the glue.
Time will tell with new and better drivers the real performance of these graphics cards, but it's seems intel made his homeworks. Thanks for share.
Maybe do a new intel arc video, so we can learn if the drivers have been improved?
I love the Arc´s. That ends up in 2x 770´s and 2x750´s in my Supercomputer. :-D
“Intel airbus” 😂
The bigger question is why would you buy an Intel GPU? From what I've seen everything below DX12 is emulated and poorly at that, the drivers are pretty rough, and with the RX6600 going for sub $200 and used RX 580s going all day long for around a hundred bucks? I hope Intel sticks around just to have some extra competition, but I've seen zero reason to buy over the big 2.
-Turn on ReBar, Dawid.
-I got Turn on ReBar at home!

Honestly, Intel makes everything. CPUs, Mini PCs, Graphics cards, everything!
That mini PCs one didn't age so well lol
Interesting how Gigabyte doesn't have staple defaults in their bios.
I was about to consider getting one until I read that it only works best for 10th gen intel cpus above... damn
I thought REbar kneecapped the mb by running at a slower pcie version for computability's sake
My one big issue with the ARC GPU's is that, at least supposedly, (could be wrong) you need an intel management engine enabled machine to update their firmware. Intel management engine on a computer you own is just straight up malware so requiring it to update your GPU firmware is kind of asinine IMO. But then again it also seems asinine to have that sort of malware installed across the board anyway so what do I know. Also, as others have mentioned, I'd suggest you try DXVK or even just straight up running games through full fledged proton on linux since from what I've heard most of ARC's issues are a result of things proton and it's plugins handle implicitly.
I'm all for more GPU competition but Intel really needs to get their drivers under control.
Honestly, since where I live a 40 series costs more than an entirely new, mid range PC build... I think I'd rather take the performance issues of Intel even with ReBAR off over... That.
The fact that Intel 1st gen raytracing is smoother than NVidia and AMD's is crazy.
I remember the RTX 2000 anything and AMD's cards being brought from over 100 fps down to single digit framerates
Yet Intel has higher averages and lows with ray tracing enabled on their 1st gen entries. Despite their iGPU reputation.
I would love to buy one, but I live on the toenail of the world and they haven't filtered down to us yet.
Im running a 12gb rtx3080 on an i7 7700k so dont even have access to resizable bar for my gpu and i doubt it would barely do anything for me D:
