I won't lie, where I live an Xbox Controller is fairly expensive compared to a Dual Sense, and the only reason I think it's worth it is the compatibility with Windows that every single major triple A developers forgets to add Playstation inputs on PC. But it does give a sour taste in the mouth knowing you need to pay extra for the battery, AA batteries are good and all, but again, in the long run they get expensive. I've got this kit, so let's hope it will last for a good amount of time then. All I wanted though was MS adding some sort of easy way to check the battery level on Windows, and making the controller flash in some sort of different color while it was charging, or I dunno, make the light keep blinking or something, that would help so much XD
I have seen a few cables available online that light up when they're charging that controller. Not as useful as seeing a charge indicator directly on the controller, but something you may want to look into.
this, i already feel stupid for buying a controller just for proper support, but for the price i paid for this and an old xone play and charge battery i almost could've bought 2 more dualshock 4's and that just makes me feel like i was robbed, i better hope this controller lasts for at least 10 years, because feature-wise it's not worth half of it
@@kevs-gaming don't think i will pick one up since the old battery is the same as the new one and mine is working fine I may just use a usb-c cable I have laying around.
Hello! I just bought this. Does the battery ever say anything else besides medium ? I've been charging mine for most of the day now and it still says medium
Is that with the official charging cable? It could be an issue on the software side. Removing the controller on Xbox or pc and then adding it back could resolve it.
It depends on usage. All lithium batteries, whether they are in a phone, laptop or whatever, have a limited lifespan and need to be replaced after a period of time. If you're gaming several hours every day, it will die quicker. If you game a few hours every week, it could last many years.
I just can’t comprehend why people defend them for relying on AA batteries. I’ve had Series X for a few weeks now and have changed them once and now the new pair is about half gone. People say “oh, well when my batteries die I can just get a new set and boom, 100% battery”. It’s like, what’s so hard about plugging in your controller at the end of the day when your all done gaming? I mean, that’s basically what everyone does with their phones, right? To me that’s better than rummaging through your nightstand finding some mismatch batteries or swiping them from your moms vibrator. Lol oh well, they can do no wrong I suppose.
The battery method makes the controller more expensive as you need to either purchase the battery pack upgrade or spend years buying batteries. I'd rather they implemented a lithium Ion battery.
It's better to have removable batteries then having a battery that's built into the controller because when it dies you have to replace the whole controller. As someone who still has a PS3 with Dualshock 3 controllers this is a big issue as my controllers die within like 3 hours now and Sony no longer make Dualshock 3 controllers the only thing being sold online are rip off Chinese controllers. In comparison my Xbox 360 battery packs have also started to barely hold a charge but in that case AA's work just fine until I can find new battery packs for the Xbox 360. The only advice I'd give Microsoft is do what 8BITDO does and include the Rechargeable battery pre-installed in the controller but never build it into it like Sony or Nintendo that would suck. Also the battery packs Microsoft use last like a week nearly 2 where as my Dualsense controllers usually die after 1 gaming session.
if you have 1 controller you dont have to wait or play with a cable when your controller dies but when you have batteries you can just put new batteries in no cable required and a good thing about this batterie pack is when it days after the 2 days it has just plug some batteries in and when youre done playing put the pack in and charge it thats why i hate my playstation 5 whenever my controller dies i have to play with a cable whilst it charges and then i can play with out it for 1 gaming session then i have to repeat it just gets annoying
PlayStation started using rechargeable batteries as soon as their first wireless controller came out all the way back in 2006! It’s been 17 years and Xbox still won’t do it! Unbelievable
I have a Xbox controller with the microUSB, the Magenta one. Only the USB-C battery kit is available here in Qatar. Does it fit the microUSB controller battery compartment? And then I was thinking I will just charge it with a ton of microUSB cable lying around the house...
Battery size doesn't tell you the full story. Some AA batteries just don't last that long. I can attest to these batteries being high quality and having good battery life.
@@kevs-gaming A pair of 2400mAh AAs will give you 3X the battery life of this type of pack . Pound for pound AA rechargeable batteries can't be beaten . Not sure why people hate them . It's a convenience issue I guess ?

Doesn’t this come with a power brick? I intend on using this for xCloud on my phone and do not currently own the console, how am I suppose to charge this??
@@kevs-gaming I cannot find a 5 volt charger anymore in stores. Apparently many people have have fried their plug and play batteries from using fast chargers per reddit
Yeah there's always a risk of degrading batteries quicker if you don't use the right charger. For example, don't use your smartphone's fast charger as it will deliver too much voltage.
You'd have to check the max/recommended charging rate for the battery and ensure that's what you deliver. If in doubt, just charge via the usb port on your Xbox.
Bought two pairs of Eneloops that come with the charger and never thought of going back to regular AAs and play and charge kits. @@kevs-gaming My first two Eneloop pairs are three years old now and still going strong. I've never been lucky with okay-and-charge kits -- they only last roughly a year before they start draining real fast. I also bought rechargeable AAAs for my other devices (clocks, remotes, etc.) and just gave away my stockpile of regular batteries.
You can play right away with this kit as well. You don’t have to wait hours to start playing again. You plug it in, 2 seconds, then start playing while it charges.
Just 1400 mAh battery. It will not last long. Instead of this I pick rechargeable 2x2500mah batteries. This way I could get almost 3 times more capacity than the battery at the video.
Try and charge it using a standard USB adaptor to rule out the Xbox being an issue (my guess is that it isn't, but worthwhile checking). Then double check the connection of the battery.
I'm thinking about buying the xbox remote and this battery kit to use on my pc, when using the battery and with the type-c cable connected to the computer, does the battery charge while playing?

I even tried removing the actual battery & plugged it in without it & no difference. I also have one of those charging stations that you sat the controller on with the battery pack but, it won't charge one of the battery packs. I play for hours with the cable connected to the controller and it does not fully charge. I am sure I am doing something stupid cause all I want is to play with a full battery witout any cables connected. Darn it. LOL
You need to press the Xbox button on your controller when the console is on. You'll see an indicator at the top right that advised the battery level of your controller and headset.
As we are always required to uplug type c cable to check battery percentage level, So is there an way to check charge percentage level without removing type c cable?
I have this but the battery is useless because it doesn't you know RECHARGE the one thing it's designed to do. When I plug the cable in there is no indication of it recharging the battery whatsoever. And when I unplug it the battery is still low so clearly doesn't work as it's supposed to
And warranty? I bought once for my Xbox one controller, and it only had 3 mounths of warranty. And after 3 and a half mounths it broke down. Im not buying another until Microsoft really sell high quality ones. Rechargeable batteries seems like a better solution right now.
You should be able to recharge standard rechargeable AA from your controllers port, but no Microsoft con us into buying Thier own packs for this purpose

Not as useful as seeing a charge indicator directly on the controller, but something you may want to look into.
this, i already feel stupid for buying a controller just for proper support, but for the price i paid for this and an old xone play and charge battery i almost could've bought 2 more dualshock 4's and that just makes me feel like i was robbed, i better hope this controller lasts for at least 10 years, because feature-wise it's not worth half of it
Shame they ditched the led light on the charger seems like the cheaped out and just went with a generic usb-c cable
Yeah I would have preferred that was kept too.
@kevs-gaming Thanks for the advice ! 🙏 I appreciate it on an old video
@videogameclips5266 no problem at all 👍
Same issue as well. Found a solution?
So how long does this official series X batterypack last? Heard and seen many reviews saying they only last about 2 years or so and then die...
Have you never heard of rechargeable AA batteries ? They don't make a better battery for it's size .

It's not something I've tested myself. I've heard others say it does fit, but it's a bit tighter.
Nyko and gamesir gives you two high quality batteries and a cable for a cheaper price.
My battery pack stuck in my controller, and i can't open and take it off
thanks
It says xbox one because its the exact same battery pack as the xbox one but with a type c cable instead
It's only 1400mah? You can get 5000mah from 2 rechargeable AA batteries - way better
Convenience is a big part of it. I burned through dozens of AAs with Wii and Wii U controllers over the years. It's so much easier just to plug it in and charge.
I bought one today and after i unboxed it i was surprised that the usb-c cable is not tight with some strips then i thought it’s been used but now i realiz that this is the way it packed it’s really odd from microsoft this kind of packaging
I'm not a fan of the way cables are tightly coiled in boxes either. My official xbox cable has long since died. It wasn't long bedore it frayed.
So with this rechargeable battery, can you actually play and charge at the same time, and even when you disconnect the cable you will have a changed battery?
That's how I use it. I'll play until it's discharged and then keep playing as it's charging.
Xbox should've use 18650 quality rechargeable batteries, those suckers last very long and its universal, can use on other devices.
Removable batteries are great since battery degraded over time. When xbox batteries are not great anymore i can just buy a new one.
It’s a shame that this play and charge kit is trash though, just look on forums and you’ll see that people like me are having charging issues, and that’s not with heavy use either.
It should come with the Xbox though. It’s ridiculous how you have to go out and buy it
Doesn’t this come with a power brick? I intend on using this for xCloud on my phone and do not currently own the console, how am I suppose to charge this??
You would have to use your own charger as no adapter is provided.
@@kevs-gaming so which charger do I use? A 5 volt charger?
You'd have to check the max/recommended charging rate for the battery and ensure that's what you deliver.
If in doubt, just charge via the usb port on your Xbox.
Unfortunately the battery pack only lasted me two months, but hey on the bright side I now have a wired controller
I'd definitely push for a replacement. Two months is really poor.
The Xbox play and charge kit is a scam I been trying and trying to charge and it won’t work and when you try to take the batteries out it stuck
This doesn't fit my old gen console why? USB c cable this one is but the old gen was always standard USB why did they change It ffs
Why the battery go down after i turn my pc and the controller off while I’m not using it
All batteries drain when not in use. The standby time of batteries varies greatly between batteries though.
can i connect the controller to a charging adapter usung the usbc cable?
Yes you can.
Bought two pairs of Eneloops that come with the charger and never thought of going back to regular AAs and play and charge kits.
A pair would give me 3800 mAh, which lasts up to 3 - 4 days of 6 - 8 hours playtime (with vibration) before it needs to be recharged (then I only need 10 seconds to swap to the second pair and I'd get 100% full battery instantly as opposed to plugging in the charge cable for a few hours).
The batteries can also last up to 2000 charges before it wears out and dies (at least that's how Eneloop advertises it).
Good to know Rendell. I have an old Xbox controller and a second Xbox one S/X controller so I may explore some alternative charging options.
Why does my battery doesn’t get full? I have my cable in my controller the whole day and it’s still empty and won’t charge
Try and charge it using a standard USB adaptor to rule out the Xbox being an issue (my guess is that it isn't, but worthwhile checking).
Then double check the connection of the battery.
My xbox battery stopped charging after 2weeks of use
I'd get a replacement.
I fixed it. I just drained the battery all the way to zero, until my controller wont turn on anymore. Then it charged.
Glad you got it working 👍
I'm thinking about buying the xbox remote and this battery kit to use on my pc, when using the battery and with the type-c cable connected to the computer, does the battery charge while playing?
Yeah it will charge once the type c cable is connected.
I don't have Xbox, but i do purchased the Xbox wireless\Bluetooth game controller for PC gaming. I use it with AA Nuon rechargeable batteries and was thinking to buy this kit. Is it better to keep using the AA rechargeable batteries or is better this kit?
I've been very happy with the official kit, but I have friends who use third party solutions and are happy with that.
Shiiiet... love your Scottish! ? (forgive me if it is Irish) Much love from Florida !
It's Scottish...but the Irish are awesome so need for forgiveness 👍
Hi! Can I charge the battery when the console is off in power save mode? Using the usb on the back of the console?
Yes it should still charge.
The light says off tho. I’m not sure if it’s actually charging.

My xbox one charging cable has a small light in the cable to show that the battery is either still charging or full
what about xbox series x charging cable ??
Unfortunately, it doesn't have that.
so I have a xbox one & I have 2 of those rechargeable batteries. I'm trying to charge a battery but, I'm not sure if it's working. I'm not getting the charging symbol at the bottom right. I do have a symbol at top right (beside the microphone symbol) "displaying" its plugged in & if I go to control settings it says it is plugged in. I even tried removing the actual battery & plugged it in without it & no difference. I also have one of those charging stations that you sat the controller on with the battery pack but, it won't charge one of the battery packs. (thats why im trying the usb method) not sure if I'm doing it wrong or what can anyone help?
I've never seen that myself. It always shows the connected symbol for me.
I bought this charge and play kit, and I am not sure when it is really charging the battery. I am so confused. I turn off the Series S and the the controller plugged to the console and when I turn it on, the battery did not charge.
@@kevs-gaming Unfortunately I found out that my bettery is dead. Thanks!
As we are always required to uplug type c cable to check battery percentage level, So is there an way to check charge percentage level without removing type c cable?
You just need to press the Xbox button to see the current battery level,, at a glance.
I have this but the battery is useless because it doesn't you know RECHARGE the one thing it's designed to do. When I plug the cable in there is no indication of it recharging the battery whatsoever. And when I unplug it the battery is still low so clearly doesn't work as it's supposed to
That is something that annoyed me too (especially coming from the PS4). You need to view your current battery level via your Xbox interface.
And warranty? I bought once for my Xbox one controller, and it only had 3 mounths of warranty. And after 3 and a half mounths it broke down. Im not buying another until Microsoft really sell high quality ones. Rechargeable batteries seems like a better solution right now.
If I remember right, you get one year of warranty. I'd have to double check that.
I'd get a full replacement if it failed after three months.
@@kevs-gaming yeah, maybe they changed that. Or the warranty varies from country to country
You should be able to recharge standard rechargeable AA from your controllers port, but no Microsoft con us into buying Thier own packs for this purpose
No one conned you into doing anything. Are you an adult? Capable of making your own damn decisions?
is this cable worth getting or is it better to get the charging dock that comes with the rechargable battery that lets u charge it on the dock ?
I'm used to using official kit, but I must admit a docking station would be useful.
Lemme say tho, it sucks we had to buy these damn batteries, yes!! Thing is If for whatever reason u need to switch that battery out or u forget to charge and u wanna be wireless u can switch out. Gotta find the silver linings brother!! Im just about to do an accessories video including these and thats one of my focus points lol
Yeah it's a double edged sword. I guess it does make it more flexible. It's not as easy to change batteries on PlayStation controllers etc.
But it does increase the overall cost of each controller too.
@@kevs-gaming true it def cost more!! No arguments there lol but while cost is increased so is longevity!! Esp since xbox one and so on accessories are forward compatible too
So would you say this is better than Energizer rechargeable batteries? Since this gives you longer battery life?
I've not done a comparison myself so couldn't say.
I don't get it, i bought this a year ago but i can play by taking out the battery and using the cable only. Does that mean the battery is dead?
Either the battery is dead or there is a problem with the battery charging via the controller.

how long it takes to charge the battery?
microsoft charging indicator on pc is terrible, you cant tell if it charge only if you go to the app, no other indicator.
Agreed. It's a bad design.
Can you use the cable to play games in wired mode for PC, or it's just for charging
Yes you can stay connected and continue to play in wired move.
no wonder that they didnt work, i plugged the cable into my phone battery
i bought one for my xbox 1 but looks like the input to the controller is an android plug not not the c port, could i just use a android cable instead or sum ?
That will be the older micro B connection. Yeah you just need to use the provided cable and you're sorted 👍
I just got mine in the mail an have the Xbox one as well I’m using my old android charger an it seems to be charging pretty good so I think your good
panasonic rechargeable AA "eneloop" are a better bang for ur buck
an incredibly expensive yet so basic controller, i almost regret buying it, but that's the price one must pay for propper support on PC, for the xbox fanatics that still swear by AA's, just plug the controller in when not playing and you will never have the issue of playing with the controller plugged in waiting for the bat to charge, don't wait for the low battery indicator, just keep charging it, after getting the feel for it just the thought of opening the battery compartment to swap batteries will look like a huge hassle in comparison
Is there a way to know when its done charging without turning on the console
I'm not aware of any way to check the battery status out with the Xbox dashboard.

did you try using the usb-c cable to connect the controller to the pc instead of the Xbox? and if yes, does this usb-c cable from the kit allow windows 10 to recognise the controller ?
did you find the answer?
@@FaridPangos not yet
I tried to watch unboxings to read what the box contains and it was written "charging cable"on the side of the box even if on the front part of the box it says "usb-c cable"
So I believe that charging cables only won't allow the controller to be recognised by windows since they charge up the battery of the kit only.
Data cables (or synchronisation cables) are the ones needed for windows to recognise the controller. Sadly the play and charge kit only has a charging cable which won't allow windows to detect the controller.
