    Coach Nick broke down a key aspect to the Celtics strategy - out of bounds plays and after time out calls. These are the moments when a coach can influence the outcome of the game the most, and the clever sets and good execution is a hallmark of Coach Brad Stevens. As they prepare for the playoffs, Coach Stevens has taught his Celtics players how to maximize their abilities within the framework of his system.

    Great video! Stevens is absolutely doing a great job for the Celtics. I am impressed with what he has done so far from season 1 to his 2nd season. With the constant gutting of the team, losing the best players in Rondo and Green, he remains focused and got us in the 7th spot in the East. Simply amazing.

    I'm so happy that the Celtics are actually relevant even though they have a pretty incomplete roster. This is how rebuilding should be done. Good job Ainge and most of all Stevens!

      MBogdos96 I'm a diehard Boston fan and watching Ainge, Stevens, and watching the organization battle with the Cavs was a lot of fun. Despite getting swept, (I was in the balcony for Game 4 in Boston and watched Kevin Love run to the locker room when his shoulder popped out) every game was extremely competitive and 3 of the 4 losses were by single digits. The East was very weak this past season, but I think with some strong offseason signings the C's will have no trouble finishing top 5 this year. Like you said....LET'S GO CELTICS!

    I'm glad this video went up, after going to Butler when Brad Stevens was there and seeing how he worked I knew he was going to do well in the NBA, and the sky is the limit with him everytime no matter what the roster, and he tends to be ignored because he doesn't have all-stars in his team. Thanks for being one of the few people who actually appreciate his greatness and intelligence!

    It's refreshing to see a team (through the coach) advisor l actually run plays to win games, rather than just isolating their best player and hoping they can score in a one-on-one situation. Kudos to coach Stevens

    if brad stevens is this good with a decent-but-not-good team, I can't imagine how good the c's might get once he gets a good-and-deep team.

    • @t4d0W
      @t4d0W 9 лет назад

      ReCharredSigh That is always the challenge when he has to deal with multiple egos. But the good with thing the setup he has is if Ainge gets the right young franchise building talent, they grow up with Stevens who seems to communicate well with young guys. With that said I don't think Stevens will be handling big egos who want to run the team that were not developed within the franchise.

    • @ReCharredSigh
      @ReCharredSigh 9 лет назад

      BludAardvark quite true; very different if say the leader on a loaded team has the low drama and coachability of a tim duncan-type personality. whereas if the leader draws drama to himself like lebron or has the hardheadedness of a kobe, it might not work out.
      but then again david blatt's doing well on the cavs now despite lebron making espn newslines everyday, so i feel it's a bit shortsighted to pencil stevens as a guy who can't handle egos or turmoil; remember that the celtics seemed like a revolving door of players this season (injuries and players getting traded) amidst all the losses they piled up, and stevens remained even-keel, never getting emotionally spent; the players gravitated towards that, and that's always a good sign.

    • @pannu2130
      @pannu2130 9 лет назад

      Jebuiz y'har You're probably right but if you actually look at it Brad has a legitimate case. Kerr did a great job but their team is loaded with talent. It's really between Budenholzer and Stevens. Bud gets more wins and had a great season so I think he should win it but Stevens took a team that was supposed to be arguably the worst team in the league to almost a .500 record. Also looking after the allstar break the Celtics have a top 5 record if I'm not mistaken. It's not unheard of for a coach like Brad to win the award either. Doc Rivers only time winning coach of the year was when he coached his Magic to a 41-41 record when they were projected to be one of the worst teams in the league.

    • @Chenrandyliu
      @Chenrandyliu 9 лет назад

      TheVictoryHawk Yo, either two will get it and they will deserve it. But as a Celtics fan I'm damn glad the team has a budding great coach who can get the most out of his future young and potentially championship proven core. While other teams will overpay washed up has beens or unproven young coaching minds, Brad Stevens is going to be part of the Celtics for a long time.

  • @t4d0W
    @t4d0W 9 лет назад +2

    This is the hallmark of good coaching. When you get a group of people who may not be high caliber players but playing at a high caliber level in a harmonious fashion. Some coaches live off the talent they have in their roster. And try as the Celtics may lose, good coaching just keeps them in deep games. Nothing against some Eastern teams in disarray this year like Charlotte, Brooklyn, New York and Miami. But the C's practically got the 7th seed in the east with no star players and half a roster that was suppose to disappear a year or two from now. This was suppose to be yet another development year for the C's but other teams just wanted to tank harder and maybe just didn't have the right kind of players or coach for their team. Good stuff for Brad Stevens. Best Celtics pickup in a long while.

    Even in NBA 2K15 you can get easy points in baseline out of bounds plays ! Free points just like in NBA. I guess concentration of the defense decreases in out of bounds plays, that's why it is relatively easier to score. Also it's like a guy coming out of screen in a set play, one pass, one shot, score. Easy.

      after-TO / SOB plays are really crucial for any good nba coach because usually you can't playcall out loud too often as you're walking the ball up, or defenses will hear the play and know how to defend it later in the game, no matter how brilliant the play. however, after-TO / SOB plays give you a chance to draw up any play you want without the defense hearing it (they can only guess based on your initial formation).

      @nicov2k 9 лет назад +4

      The blazers won they're division so they're guaranteed 4th seed or higher

      KirPikaTendo Ooooh, that explains a lot, that's why teams find it so important to win their division. I never knew why, thanks!

      The same question I wanted to ask ! Even though they won their division , shouldn't it be decisive when two or more teams have a tie ? Cuz it is meaningless to be ahead of a team which won 3 more games than you .

      KirPikaTendo Toronto won their division too , but they are behind the bulls , which is second in central division . Could you explain why ?

    It's a pity Boston had to go against the Cavs first round. If they went against Washington or Toronto I wouldn't be surprised if they took it to 7 games or even win the series.

    I wonder if Kevin Love would consider going to Boston in the off season? I think that they can afford to pay him, he would be the main man of the team, and he would be in the easiest division in the NBA, the Atlantic.

    Ok, I have a genuine question.
    I've watched the first 3 minutes or so of the video so far, and the commentator is talking about how great the plays are that Stevens has his team implementing. But, it seems like 90% of the plays shown, show players working really hard to run a play to get a mid range jump shot. That is the worst shot in the game. Why would you run plays to get shots that the defense will gladly give you all day? At the start of the vid it even says that the Celtics aren't good from an efficiency standpoint on BLOBs. It's live the clips/facts they picked, don't highlight the praise they are giving him.
