Hell, even the enunciation and emphasis alone paint a clear picture that non-sportsball fans can appreciate. Damn near perfect execution on so many fronts. Don't stop making skits, but also don't lean too heavily on obvious strengths. There is talent here that can expand to reach so many people. Keep it up.

      @7F0X7 3 года назад +1136

    • @awfan221
      @awfan221 2 года назад +717

      Yea I remember in high school, our school won the soccer championship. The coach was so bad but we won in spite of him. Literally his only instruction was to pass it to the wings and then cross or cut inside and shoot. Most our goals were through balls or shots from distance 🤣. The assistant coach however knew some important tactics for defensive traps, defensive/offensive plays on set pieces, shifting when the opposition has the ball on one side, setting up triangles so that there are 2 passing options every time, etc...

    • @DatBoi-gi3vq
      @DatBoi-gi3vq 2 года назад +180

      @@awfan221 triangles for passing options is one of the most basic important things we footballers (soccer players) get taught when we are young for multiple reasons:
      1 It makes sure that you understand that you should also be working when your team has the ball but it isn't in your possession.
      2 It makes you scan the field more resulting in being able to see more opportunities.
      3 You move more so you build more stamina which is important.
      4 Team spirit.
      5 More passes so you improve on that very essential skill.
      In a sport like football the triangle for passing is so important that some even think you should be making diamond shapes because that's a free extra triangle for the cost of just 1 more player which gives more opportunities for moving the ball. This doesn't really translate well to sports like basketball however since it's more based on individual skill because the court and teams are smaller.

It got to the point where the opposing team didn't even bother pressuring us until the 7/8 pass and whenever we had an open spot to score we HAD to pass or he would make us run suicides in the next practice. I'm glad I left and found a much better team.

      That's actually standard stuff, it is good for you guys to learn. Soccer is about build up. But obviously if you are just kids having fun no point going into all that. It sounds like he was trying to teach the game and you wanted just to win and have fun.
      Also, the passes shouldn't be crab passes in the back but in building and controlling possession in the final third. So they should be pressuring you far earlier if done right.

    It’s sad because I had a coach like this. Had a rule we had to have 3 passes minimum before we shoot. Even if you were wide open you had to pass. Teams we played regularly caught on and would literally wait until the 3rd pass to start playing defense. It’s what made me quit basketball and I was like 11. Unreal how coaches like this still exist.
    Edit: I could’ve been older. It was some time in middle school for those so concerned about my age. We were considered a competitive team and often competed in highly competitive tournaments. We’d get clobbered because of this rule.

    This remind me way too much. I used to be a assistant Football (soccer) coach for a Elite level team. The coach was some random guy who had played some Semi-Professional team for 1 month and he was kicked of the team. It's not confirmed but we litteraly heard it was cause of his game sense.
    I would do technical training with them after practice, cause the coach just made them run for 45 minutes and then play games for 45 more. I advocated for: More technical practice like Ball Games, Passing prac, Dribble technique, Individual GK practice etc. He ended up being kicked and I made some reforms to the structure. We started doing 2.5 hour blocks and removed one day (Friday), so that the players could socialise more since we believed that to be important aswell for the morale. It was so heartwarming to see these guys faces light up when I told them I was their new head coach. Always remember the impact you got on people, even if you're their age they can still respect you. Make them improve and teach them discipline, its a skill they can use for the rest of their lives.

    This too real. 💀 I had coach who wanted to be Bobby Knight so bad. 😂 We was supposed to be an "all star AAU team" but we started out 1-2 because he couldn't coach worth a damn. Luckily we had a player on our team whose dad actually knew how to coach. He volunteered after our first 2 losses and we never lost again until the championship game. Too add a little bit more to the story dude had us running plays from the Hoosiers movie. 🤣 And y'all can believe me or not on this part but we had Miles Bridges on our team too.

    lol this is literally the exact situation I was in a few years ago. I volunteered to coach a youth soccer team my younger brother is on, but they made me assistant when it was my first year. I played soccer from the age of four through high school, so I had a good grasp on the game. The head coach was this overweight guy that had the “just have fun” philosophy. He would compliment the kids for doing shit that didn’t even resemble soccer, and I basically had to do all the coaching myself while still not overstepping since I was the assistant.

      No wonder the coach went overweight, when lost too many times in his childhood career. They say have fun and the kids do have fun even, if they play in competitive style, but they will then get used to make stupid mistakes, if they get compliments out of it and thats how their never improve and stay bad at the sport and its no wonder that kids who played under coaches like these never made it to become pro, when they gave compliments of playing the sport bad way, that makes no sence, when they also do have fun, if they play the sport hard way. They do not have fun, if some other teamate bullies them and this kind of bulling can also happened in bad team where the coach says just have fun, when its one teamate there that bullies, while the fat coach has not much any intrest, when says just have fun, so kids have typically more fun in competitive level, because they can show how good they are and really try to win the game.

      Had the same experience, the head coach I was assisting wouldnt even draw up formation and switch players during play so much even I didn't know where the heck people were supposed to play. Edit: the only game we won that season was when I head done all the match tactics and used boards to make then understand how to play and where to play.

    This reminds me of the coach at my old high school. He had no idea what he was doing. The only reason he got the position (he was one of the gym teachers too) is because his father ran our district's board of education. Assistant coach Vic is the reason we made it to the state championship.

      Reminds of my coach when I played for the ymca. He was a good coach don’t get me wrong he turned me into a triple threat BUT when it came to making G decisions that could win us some games he made the worst choices.
      The only good ppl on the team was me and the starting line up me my homie and the coach’s grand kids instead of keeping us in the game for as long as possible he’d randomly bench us so the bench which mind you couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn or play any defense could get some time even if it meant us losing a 10 point lead
      I still respect coach just not his choices

    I remember this happening to me when I was super young, but at least the head coach knew his place, and let the assistant basically be the head coach. We went undefeated that season, sadly a lot of us including me lost interest in playing basketball though

    • @Itstime1231
      @Itstime1231 3 года назад +31

      A head coach is responsible for a lot more than just the coaching aspect, usually they have to send out all the emails, get stuff organized, talk with the parents, etc. etc. So the head coach may just be the dude who volunteers to put more time in and your assistant coach is the one who really wants to focus on teaching/organizing the sports/game plan/practices. Ideally you can have a head coach who also knows the sport, but it isn't a surprise that it's common.
