50 yrs ago when I lived in Camden,I use to bow fish for carp in the swamp near the old State St. bridge. They'd come in at high tide and wouldn't be able to leave until the next high tide. We'd shoot a dozen or so and load them in a shopping cart and wheel it around and sell them for a dollar apiece. Your video brought back some good old memories of the Cooper river carp fishing
Leo you should go to farrington lake in nj there is a lot of fish northern pike, huge large mouths, stocked trout, white bass, cats, carp and lots of micro species
I know exactly where you are in this video, you took the train and got off on the Ferry Avenue exit, walked up Haddon Avenue to Pacific Avenue down across South Park Drive. I could get to Cooper River by just walking across Haddon and up Pacific like you did in this vid, glad to see you caught some fish. I've oddly enough not fished that part of Cooper River in a long, long time. I think I'll try my luck on my upcoming 2 days off of work.
Im going fishing at Marquette Lake near Fort Indiantown Gap. I usually use powerbait with a MONOFILAMINT line. Last time I went I was ther for 3 hours and only caught 2 fish total. Me and my dad bring 4 rods. Should I switch to flourocarbon line because you always say if you use visible line the trout wont bite. I use a #12 hook with chartreause powerbait. Also im thinking about using 1 rod with worms. Should I either put a float on or blow air in the worm?
I definitely think that you should switch that monofilament to fluorocarbon, Ant Mats. And I would suggest a 4-6lbs Fluorocarbon leader. It may sound sketchy at first, but you will notice the difference when you use the Fluorocarbon! It truly works for the Trout! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
I did discuss with subs recently if I should start exploring Delaware state. People were very positive about it! Thus, I will start exploring it really soon. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching, East Coast Bass!
That would be good for me 3 fish in 5 hrs i was sat 5hrs moving in loads of swims waiting for a bite i was about to move swims just about to reel the rod on and my float was twitching i striked and it was a nice 2lb+ Pike i clould of quit early because it is winter but held at it and got my first pike! Well done Leo ur a inspiration and the reason why i fishing and exploring amd be mobile instead of staying in one swim all day
Thank you very much, Jack! I am glad that you enjoy the videos here on the Channel. As for your question, it is hard for me to answer. After all, I have yet to explore and fish Northern NJ. Hehe. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Jack .Stravinsky I have explored only Southern New Jersey for now, unfortunately. From South NJ, I would recommend any tributary of the Delaware River, including the Rancocas River, Cooper River, and Newton Lake, Jack. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
what's your license situation? do you get short term visitor license? obviously nj, and pa you have full license. some of these Jersey spots are short drives for me. id like to try them. any advice?
Since I fish NJ a lot, I have an annual fishing license with a Trout Stamp. I also have an annual license for Delaware State and Florida. For all other states, I tend to buy the temporary ones. If you fish more than 5 times in a state, at different times of the year, I would recommend you to get an annual non-resident license. Tight lines and thanks for watching, Chris!
Less than $100 for sure, Luke. And most of my combos are less than $75. I have only 2 or 3 combos that are in the range of $100-$150 and only one combo that is $200+. In other words, I can't afford the super expensive stuff yet. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Absolutely, Fish Fillet! And as a matter of fact, the upcoming videos on the Channel are all saltwater or brackish water videos from OBX (Outer Banks, NC). :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Around Lancaster, it is hard for me to tell, Bao. But in New Jersey, almost every Lake has a good population of Black Crappie (_Pomoxis nigromaculatus_). I would particularly recommend Linden Lake in Lindenwold, Cooper River Lake in Camden, and Newton Lake in Collingswood. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
I tend to use between 8-12lbs line for Carp fishing, either Fluorocarbon or Braided line. For my leader, I prefer a snelled hook, about 4-6 inches long, preferentially Fluorocarbon, Greyson. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Also I'm from western PA and the geese are just as awful there, it's the dang migratory bird treaty act of 1918 that's ruining docks and parks everywhere
Thank you very much, ben! I am glad that you enjoy the contents here on the Channel. And you are right about the geese. Hopefully the government will change that one of these days, after they realize that they are procreating like crazy! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
They give an awesome fight, Benjamin. Pound per pound, they are one of the hardest fighting fish in freshwater! You should definitely give it a try! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Thank you very much, ian! As a matter of fact, I just went Smallmouth Bass (_Micropterus dolomieu_) fishing a while ago and didn't catch much. They were spawning around my area and got done just about 2 weeks ago. Couldn't catch any big ones after the spawn, but video on them will be coming out on Wednesday (06/01). Tight lines and thanks for watching!
i live in plymouth wisconsin it took 4 of my friends to pull a carp in and at the river i fish in #somuchbullheadintheriver and do a video in plymouth wisconsin when it is spring or summer
That is awesome, Ian! Congratulations on your Carp! We will see how the Channel goes. If it keeps growing, I will eventually get to Plymouth, Wisconsin, one of these days. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Good way to identify white catfish that you did not mention, if the bottom chin whiskers are white, the only other bullhead catfish with white chin whiskers are yellow bullheads
Absolutely, Chad! I have gone to the James River in Virginia one time and loved it. Here is the video for it: ruclips.net/video/dcIzYsJfUq8/видео.html When I have an opportunity, I will definitely be going back. It all depends on how the Channel grows! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Both species of fish are awesome to catch. But carp put on a big fight and are fun to catch. But it sucks when u go somewhere and u spend like 8 hours out there and u get skunked. Lol and catfish can be awesome to catch to.
Definitely, Noah. Carp fishing can be very slow at times, but when the fish hits...it is very rewarding! Definitely a great addition to the sport, in my opinion. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Sadly, something must be done when it comes to their overpopulation, Adam. Hopefully the government will wake up. We shall see! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Chan nailed it, Rigo. The Cooper River has a dam in it, so both the Lake and tidal portions have some Striped Bass (_Morone saxatilis_) in them. Catching them is a different story, though. ;) Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Blueback Herring (_Alosa aestivalis_) are truly gorgeous, Blue Princess! You can find a photo of a live one here, in my photo collection: extremephillyfishing.smugmug.com/MASTER-SPECIES-ALBUM-Free-to-v/ Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Hah. Right on, The101Channel. Eu nasci e cresci em São Paulo. Então, eu aprendi o sistema métrico em KG também. :) Anyways...one pound is the equivalent to 0.453592kg. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Salvador Castaneda nailed it, coolcandy241. The Daiwa Samurai combos are *super cheap* at Dick's Sporting goods and perfect for anglers who are just starting or don't mind cheap stuff. As you can see, I don't mind using cheap stuff at all. It catches me fish the same way an expensive rod would! Tight lines and thanks for watching!
I would appreciate if the government could open a law for geese harvest (a.k.a. hunting) in more areas around here, at different times of the year; or just move them somewhere else. Lol. Ultimately, do something with them! This is a serious problem that we have nowadays...sooner or later, something will have to be done to it! Tight lines and thanks for watching, LRG!
I have an annual resident license for PA and a non-resident license for NJ and DE. I have also gotten temporary licenses this year for FL, TN, NY, and MD. In other words, I *always* fish legally wherever I decide to go to, OHFARRELL. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
The Common Carp (_Cyprinus carpio_) over there are not accustomed to the top water bite, so I wasn't using anything top water. Don't worry, though! Top water Carp will be coming on the Channel next month! Tight lines and thanks for watching, Adam!
Actually, it wasn't, Living the Outdoors. Geese can spread lots of bacteria around with their poop and the government is really not doing anything about them. They have been multiplying around here for the past decade or so, and now they overpopulate many local lakes. Some of them don't migrate anymore. It is a big mess. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Chumming is definitely illegal in certain states, Corbin. That is why it is fundamental for anglers to check rules and regulations for their home states! Here in PA, NJ, and DE, chumming is absolutely legal. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
I think the name of my farm is called Harvest Moon, since I was a big fan of Harvest Moon (and still am). Nowadays, it is called Story of Seasons, though. Hah. Tight lines and thanks for watching, Alex!
+Extreme Philly Fishing thanks leo, it s 5 minutes from my house, ive been fishing it since i was little. next time you come, let me know ? tight lines !

Thank you very much for your suggestion, Dennis! Truly appreciated. I will keep that place in mind. Tight lines and thanks for watching!

I was just out there today man few bass. nice video!
That's awesome, Chan! Glad that you ended up catching some fish out there. Also glad that you enjoyed the video. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
those carp are quite small in the netherlands you would need a 6000 reel and atleast 25lb line
You need to come up here and fish some local Wilmington that would be awesome! Great vid man.
I did discuss with subs recently if I should start exploring Delaware state. People were very positive about it! Thus, I will start exploring it really soon. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching, East Coast Bass!
This is my favorite spot hardly ever skunked carp fishing here. The geese are a problem!! They never leave me the hell alone!!!
There are some monsters across 130 in the pond at the driving range
What he said about the geese was so funny and true nice carp and keep up the work with your channel Leo
Awesome videos Leo!!! Where is a good place to catfish and carp fish in Northern NJ?
Thank you very much, Jack! I am glad that you enjoy the videos here on the Channel. As for your question, it is hard for me to answer. After all, I have yet to explore and fish Northern NJ. Hehe. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
How about central NJ?
Jack .Stravinsky I have explored only Southern New Jersey for now, unfortunately. From South NJ, I would recommend any tributary of the Delaware River, including the Rancocas River, Cooper River, and Newton Lake, Jack. Tight lines and thanks for watching!

There's approximately 54 geese at 9:14.
All we have around here is bass, blue, chanel, flathead catfish, hibrid striper, and bream
How much money would you normally spend on a rod and reel combo
Less than $100 for sure, Luke. And most of my combos are less than $75. I have only 2 or 3 combos that are in the range of $100-$150 and only one combo that is $200+. In other words, I can't afford the super expensive stuff yet. Tight lines and thanks for watching!
Do you ever go to the coast and do some saltwater fishing?
Absolutely, Fish Fillet! And as a matter of fact, the upcoming videos on the Channel are all saltwater or brackish water videos from OBX (Outer Banks, NC). :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!
You should put some more fishing challenges
Thank you very much for the suggestion, Hilcias. We will see what happens in the close future! Tight lines and thanks for watching!

+Extreme Philly Fishing it is a little random place to swim in but it's nice
Even if they are abundant in CA, I've never caught a carp in my life. Do they give a good fight? Or is it just because they are heavy.
in the uk the carp fight very hard
Very good fight. They are strong fish.
They give an awesome fight, Benjamin. Pound per pound, they are one of the hardest fighting fish in freshwater! You should definitely give it a try! Tight lines and thanks for watching!

Where ever I go fishing I catch a catfish
Loe where would u want the geese to go.. It's a part of nature
Leo
No limiting factor maybe disease
I would appreciate if the government could open a law for geese harvest (a.k.a. hunting) in more areas around here, at different times of the year; or just move them somewhere else. Lol. Actually, it wasn't, Living the Outdoors. Geese can spread lots of bacteria around with their poop and the government is really not doing anything about them.
