As a London born Nigerian I can’t act like I know Fuji on a deep extent but I do think respectfully you can’t say this is ‘Fuji’ I don’t think Wasiu King Sunny Ade etc…would agree. That’s why even Asake himself describes it as a fusion but sonically the beat is a mixture of afrobeats with amapiano elements and production (log drum bass mostly) the violins too give the track a classical element. His Lyrics/vocals is Fuji (but take away the vocals) it’s still a slamming fusion beat. Same discussion with artist jumping on a drill beat if the artist is singing or doing non traditional drill/rap vocals some people will say that isn’t drill but imagine a Dj set… you couldn’t play the drill beat with singing in the rnb or afrobeats section it would be played with other drill tracks regardless of the content. Love the channel tho 🙏🏾

Great reaction. Thanks for the PVC sensitization 🇳🇬🙌🏾 I recognized the Fuji-ness from how he delivers his lyrics with the accent & the long drawl in his pronunciation esp at 1:45 -> 1:57. In terms of instrumentation, maybe the Fuji-ness is diluted since he traded Yoruba talking drums for log drums. In terms of overall texture, I would call this Afrofujipiano because of the Fuji vocal delivery/style, and the amapiano log drum (though with less snare quality and more bass). The “Afro” part comes from Afrobeats with an “s” at the end being loosely ascribed to Naija songs once it is polyrhythmic and has a drum baseline. I call it marking territory 🤣 @Banks what do you think? Don’t roast me abeg 😜
