I'm not a US citizen but I'm glad that your new President had the chance of feeling the spirit that the choir brings upon us every time we listen to the music they perform. Maybe if Trump had Beyonce or U2 singing at the inauguration he could have a lot more people attending, but I know that those who were there yesterday, were there not for a famous performer, but for the joy that a democratic process brings and for the love for their country. Hope the next 4 years are great for you, America.
Though I am a Filipino, I learned sing anthem/hymn during my elementary days because this was taught in our Music Education Class. This anthem/anthem was taught by the Americans during their occupation in the Philippines in 1898 - 1945, but, they substituted "Philippines" on the "America". And this makes me appreciate the politics of God to all nations and grateful for the motherland I was born.
I didn't vote for either candidate. I'm still happy the choir sang. 90% of the time I don't approve of who holds power or how it's used, but I still celebrate its peaceful transfer. They shared a song of hope at a time many need it. So many judge it. I find it honorable. When people feel they are surrounded by darkness, the best thing to do is turn on the light.
