      Patates Tiganites- Greek style French fries, hand cut and fried in olive oil. Try topping them with oregano, feta and a squeeze of lemon. Tzatziki is a good dipping sauce for them too.

      Poutine isn’t Canadian. It’s Québécois. Sorry, but all poutine I’ve ever had outside Quebec has been horrendous. Toronto, especially, is a poutine desert. Lots of things that claim to be poutine, but are really just cardboard masquerading as the real thing.

    • @jjgdenisrobert
      @jjgdenisrobert 3 года назад +10

      @@Bevity Food is cultural, not a form of government. And Quebec culture doesn’t have much in common with Canadian culture. I’m a Quebecois living in Toronto. I know what I’m talking about. You can’t get a decent Poutine, a decent smoked meat, or even a decent bagel outside Quebec. There’s a restaurant here that claims to be a Montreal restaurant, yet they actually served me a smoked meat with about 3 slices of New York style pastrami on stale bread with Dijon mustard. Last poutine I had, had cardboard fries (from one of the so-called “best poutine” restaurants in TO), and pale gravy. Proper poutine fries need to be greasy enough to seep all the way through the bag, be dark brown, and soft.
      When Canadians stop insulting our food culture with such blasphemy, then they can claim our food. But they have to first show the basic respect it deserves.

Want to talk about bad food... I moved to Sweden from the dreaded Canada 22 years ago and I miss what you don't even like. I would gladly take second best.

    Ok so the chip butty - it’s not really just late night food! This is something you’d eat at any time but you’d get the chips from a chip shop. So they’re thick, deep fried, greasy chips with salt and vinegar and then you need the cheapest softest white bread you can find, tonnes of butter on both sides and then the ketchup too. The bread should go almost soggy from the greasy and then it’s perfect!!

I seasoned them up with several different spices including garlic salt and black pepper, and cooked them in a pan with butter. I also toasted some slices of white bread and put some ketchup inside along with the chips. Phenomenal sandwich. Sat in my stomach like a brick because I had TWO of them. My dad enjoyed them as well. Ohhh yes it is!
    Welcome to England 😂
    P.s it's better with curry sauce lol

    What I'm missing here is friet speciaal, a dutch dish with curry ketchup, mayo and finely chopped raw onion on fries. For some reason, the raw onions don't taste bad.

    • @candyak9985
      @candyak9985 3 года назад

      YES! It tastes incredible but seems like it shouldn't. I had a craving for this as soon as the video started but I've never tried making it myself. Obviously it's not a complicated dish but I feel like there must be some secret to the raw onion not being so strong (e.g. do you soak it in water first or something?) I think I'm just going to have to do some experimenting tonight! 😁

      @@candyak9985 after cutting the onion, sprinkle it with a bit of salt, toss it and let it sweat a bit, that mellows the onion a bit. Atleast that's how I do it here in Belgium and we invented like 80% of everything fry related, even the speciaal saus combo.

    I understand that it's a little too early to say, but seeing you try all these dishes from essentially the world, I *really* would be looking forward in seeing what you deem the best out of the best >

    In Ireland, Chinese takeaways have taken on board the Irish obsession with potatoes and started adding a dish that's just called a 'spice bag' onto their menu about twenty years ago. Other takeaways quickly caught on and now you can get it just about anywhere. It's fried salt and chilli chips, salt and shredded chilli chicken (or tofu), red and green peppers, sliced chili peppers, fried onions, jalapenos and lots of spices! It's all mixed up together in a bag and delicious!

You’re an adorable happy chappy who is single handidly bringing all the world together in the nicest way, sharing food, memories of loved ones and food, but most of all we all feel closer to each other because of you xx

    Hi! I think your channel is satisfying something that I have lost since cutting out dairy and gluten. Living vicariously through your food experiments as you so obviously enjoy what you are doing. Its a bit like watching people open presents at Christmas, which, in my opinion is always better than receiving them...love it!

    Fun fact, in Chile we also have a "chips sandwich", a "Papapleto", is the same concept as the "Completo" hot dog but with fries instead of sausage.
