Dear Beryl you actualy can put the garlic without pealing in to the press! Try it ones 😂 it was a game changer for me!
Please try other juices!
I started using a micro plane for garlic, like it better than the press
My boy friend did all the levels and now he just plays levels that are to be made🎉

The girl who introduces the Sri Lankan pancakes should go into food writing! She presented her dish with such eloquence
She should be a food writer because when she told the story of her father wanting these pancakes while he was dying I know someone was chopping sharp onions next beside me. My heart felt so full.
Right?! It felt like she was giving us a gift.
I thought the same thing! She sounds like she took a few cues from Nigella Lawson 😂
Agree…and she seemed like a lovely person.
you described the dish so beautifully and really honored your dad's fave dish thank you for sharing this with us
The girl from Sri Lanka needs to be hired to describe food. I don't even like coconut, but she made my mouth water - she's a natural!
Make a pan cake by using a fresh coconut. then you will fallen love with coconut
The Sri - Lankan girl makes the pancakes recipe almost sound like asmr! What a calming and beautiful voice 🥰🥰
Oh my goodness Beryl! Thanks for including my pancake submission 😊 I can’t stop grinning from ear to ear.
The pancakes look delicious but the way you spoke about your father was such a nice tribute to him and your love for him shone through.
I loved watching your submission video! You have such a soothing voice, and your story was lovely ❤
Your story brought me to tears! So beautiful ❤
Your recipe sound delicious but your story was beautiful
I really want to make them! I love your submission video and how you talk about your father and food. You have a nice voice and seem like a beautiful soul. ☺️
Sri Lankan breakfasts are the BEST. For such a little island, it really packs a huge amount of flavour
The way Eshi presented her story about the pancakes (seriously, props to Eshi, that story was so sweet and the way she told it was so poetic) followed by Beryl calling it one of the best things she's ever eaten... yep, that's one I've gotta try.
Eshi thank you for sharing your recipe and family story. It brought me to tears as I just lost my mom from pancreatic cancer.. and she was the light of our life.
So wish to try this !
Srilankan pancakes are so good and nostalgic for all of us Lankans ❤
As a Sri Lankan who doesn't like local sweet food, I wanna say that Pani Pol absolutely RULES!
Pani Pol is not for just pancake. we use that in Awurudu season a lot
I was so impressed by Eshi's eloquence! Her description of the dish and memories of her father were very touching. Thank you for sharing them with us, Eshi!
When Eshi spoke about her Dad being the light of her and her mom's life and how eating his favorite food momentarily turns the lights back on....ughhhh.... I started crying immediately. What a beautiful way to word that mix of grief and adoration. ❤️
Made the pani pol today and.... you were spot on. Insanely delicious.
update: my wife says they are "upsettingly good"
As a Sri Lankan, I’m so glad to see people from different cultures actually making our food at home in their own countries, and enjoying it to boot! Please check out more of our cuisine, Im sure there is a Sri Lankan restaurant somewhere near you ❤
@@chayra7517pani pol is easy to make if u have the practice ,bcz you dont add many things but take less time also
AHHH SRILANKAN PAN CAKE!!! THANK YOU BERYL, you did a fantastic job
RIP ESHIS DAD❤️
Beryl, hearing your reaction to Pani Pol made me burst into tears. My grandma used to make this for me all the time, even towards the end of her life when dementia was erasing many parts of her. It was always my favorite thing to eat and I never knew another soul who liked it as much as me. My grandma passed away in 2021 and until recently I didn't even know this was an actual recipe rather than something my grandma had made up for me. I haven't tried making Pani Pol but maybe I will give it a try now knowing how much success you had with it. To me, it's like that riceball Chihiro eats in Spirited Away that makes her cry and cry. Thank you for this.
The Srilankan pancake really reminded me of 'pathishapta' - a dessert we have in West Bengal/Bangladesh which is also a dessert pancake rolled with coconut-jaggery filling. Isn't it just so cool, how we have these same sort of food all over the world with different names! ❤
We in Goa also have a tea time pancake treat called Alle Belle with a coconut jaggery filling.
Maybe because Sri Lankans (Mainly Sinhalese) came from West Bengal about 2.5 millennia ago. 😃
We have same in Konkan, Maharashtra coast.
The only difference is we don’t add turmeric and egg.
Also we use nutmeg, not cinnamon.
Now I will try the Lankan ones. They look delicious as well. And cinnamon is something that will shine in this dish
I want the Sri Lankan dish lady to recite all cookbooks. She has such a comforting voice.
Loved all of them! And I have to say it - as a Brazilian, I've never heard of the "dog with egg"... the girl was right to say it's not very known in other parts of our (big) country! That's one more reason to love Beryl's content, you can learn something new about a very distant culture as well as your own country ❤
Quando eu li o nome pensei que era cachorro quente, juro. Agora quero fazer!!!!

@@lulubibilu alguém podia mandar pra mim um pão na chapa kkkk que fomeeee

as a sri lankan, Eshi was one of the BEST story tellers, and watching beryl make pani pol is one of the most entertaining things, paired with eshis calming soft voice... she should be a Narrator!
Woww I'm really happy that you enjoyed our Pancakes, 🇱🇰 You did amazing job making those !!! We use that pani pol in various sweets we make from new year treats to cakes !!! and You nailed it ✨✨✨
The Pani Pol pancakes look so yummy! Also, Eshi has such a beautiful, relaxing voice. Throughout her commentary, I was thinking, wow she should voice audiobooks or sleep podcasts, so I laughed when Beryl mentioned it too
Sri Lanka pancakes are epic I still remember eating them in a bus station.....life changing, happend over Ten years ago....
Eshie should narrate everything, anything! Her voice is so sweet and her words were so poetic, beautiful!!
I know right! Her voice coupled with the beautiful way she worded everything sounded so eloquent, sweet, gentle and poetic. She could read the yellow pages and make it sound amazing.
She really does have a beautiful way of speaking.
The pancakes back story broke my heart...but they really did look delicious! God bless...
Eshi's explanation on Sri Lankan pancakes is next level. She should voice for Hollywood.
Germany has "Bauernfrühstück" the so called "farmer's breakfast" which is not eaten as breakfast but lunch! It's a sort of egg omelette with peaces of bacon rolled with fried potatoes.
As german, I honestly cannot say I have ever heard of anyone eating Orangencouscous as an actual traditional dish.
i think she made it up, she said it was adapted from a cookbook, but her inspiration was probably really different to this final product
@@shaina8947yeah, it’s really specific.
She said she’s from Berlin which explains everything
Probably from the GU goldenes vegetarisches cookbook, from the desserts. I think I have a recipe similar to that somewhere in there
I’ve noticed many of the German dishes aren’t really that German at all 😅 Still excited to try that though!
I feel like Beryl’s videos are getting even better! In the last few, there’s a little more joking around/behind the scenes kind of footage and I feel even more invited into her world. Does anyone else feel the same way? Beryl, you’re amazing❣️
I wanted to comment the same thing. As someone who has been watching for years, seeing and hearing more of her in the kitchen.
The Sri lankan girl seemed so sweet. Rest in peace Eshi's dad. 🙏✨
In Iran it’s pretty common for students to take that breakfast as a sandwich wrap! When I was a kid, my mom used either “sangak” or “lavash” as the wrap with walnuts, feta and herbs stuffed in the middle. It’s not only a refreshing breakfast, but we sometimes have it as a snack throughout the day. Thank you for featuring an Iranian staple! :)
That seems better as it looks a bit messy and hard to eat otherwise. But aas a wrap would be easy to make and carry for lunch later too. I never thought of putting walnuts and feta together im going to try this later and maybe add some friends aubergine cos it's very cold here today and wintery.
Delicious. If only Iran would open back up to the world again. Sigh.
As a Sri Lankan
That pol pani looks fab
And the way Eshi spoke… next breakfast I want pol pani 😭😭
I'm Sri Lankan too
So glad I make the cut 😊
Hope you enjoyed the dish and by the way the consistency is perfect ..
wish all to give it a try and enjoy the dish
And hope to make the screen again 🤞🏻

Eshi's description of pani pol pancakes was beautiful. The bit where she spoke about her Dad had me tearing up.
The Sri Lankan girl has the most beautiful tone to her voice and she describes the fit perfectly!
I am definitevely going to try Eshi's dish 😍
The story, the way she talked and all the flavors it featured I am sure its going to be a staple in my home ❤
It really touched me how she talked about the connection with the food, I also lost my dad and when I cook péruvian I feel like he is still with me for a moment ❤
Did you try it?
"Cachorro com ovo"... wow, it's super specific! Very local. I never heard about it here in Rio (southeast region, Brazil). Actually, breakfast is very different depending where you are in Brazil.
Rough translation from a Brazilian website:
North region:
With great indigenous influence, the breakfast of those who live in the north of the country is mainly composed of regional products, such as açaí, pupunha (a kind of palm), coconut and banana. In addition, of course, to cassava, present in tapioca, cakes and flour.
Northeast Region:
With Portuguese, African and indigenous influences, in the Northeast region the day begins with the aforementioned tapioca, as well as yam, cassava, dried or sun-dried meat, couscous (which can be with milk, egg or just butter), cake roll, and the delicious coalho cheese.
Midwest region:
In this region, in addition to the culture being linked to indigenous influence, there are also Paraguayan cuisine. Chipa is common and resembles cheese bread. Foforó is similar to tapioca starch biscuits. In the Pantanal region, Quebra-torto is served between 4 and 5 am to workers who will go to the farm and is a dish composed of: carreteiro rice, cassava, eggs, farofa and can be accompanied by milk with burnt sugar, coffee or sugarcane juice.
Southeast region:
Influenced mainly by Italian and Portuguese cuisine, it is common to find on the menu: grilled bread, cheese bread, cheeses, sausages, iced mate or natural juices.
South region:
With a strong German and Italian influence, the traditional table in the South region is always very plentiful. It includes sausages, jellies, jams, cheeses and cuca - a fruit cake with sweet and crunchy farofa on top. But bread rolls will always be one of our favorites for breakfast.
Wow, thank you for sharing that. How very interesting. Isn’t it amazing how diverse the food can be within a single country. It’s always so interesting to learn and taste all the delicious foods every country has to offer.
@@SavannahVu1985 Thank you! Just curious, where are you from? I guess it has a huge variation as well.
É isso aí… mas acho que pao na chapa, misto quente e pao de queijo são bem tradicionais pelo pais todo.
é tão tradicional que se voce der um google,não acha um resultado. A "mulher" tirou do rabo essa receita e diz que é tradicional
@@Liberta_BRexato! Maior mentira esse cachorro com ovo. Não existe!
Brazil is so big that breakfast will change from state to state, so much so that I live 5 states over and never heard of cachorro com ovo.
Who else loves Beryl’s personality?❤️
Yes!
You
She seems so nice and kind ❤
Meee, right here 😁❤️💯
Totally!
Admire Beryl's discipline to not bite into the final dish once done and wait to eat in front of the camera to give an authentic first reaction. That orange couscous , I would have dug in straight out of the tub. The curiosity would kill me.
I've visited Sri Lanka three times. So this is one of the most favorite sweets in theri list. And also there's something called Lavria or levarie ahh I don't remember it lol. It looks like the same but it has a denser shelf. It amazed me these people have a huge variety of flavors. From spicy to sweet. Now thanks to you I can make em at my own house. Pani pol is something we have in Sri Lanka for breakfast and tea. We have an alternative which is seeni sambol, where we replace the coconut for spicy caramelised onions with some cinnamon. Your pani pol was perfect 🔥
I LOVE seeing your process of making the dishes, it's so relatable 😂
ok yay!! I actually like showing it too, when I started the channel I was more scared to be on camera but I think it kinda makes the video more engaging?

The girl from Sri Lanka should make an asmr channel just describing food, love her voice and accent
I've never heard of cachorro com ovo, the brazilian one. I am brazilian but our culture is huge! Florianópolis is way far from where I am, thats way I never knew this dish.
Some parts of the country, in the North for example, people actually have lunch for breakfast. I mean, literally rice, beans, bacon, farofa at 7am hahhaha
né?
Yes, I am from brazil too and never sow this meal before. Breakfast fast in Brazil is usually milk or coffee, french bread with some butter or cheese.
Sou de Salvador e nunca ouvi falar desse prato na minha vida hahahahaha
A receita não é de Florianópolis. Ela falou que é da cidade natal dela, de Teresina-PI. Mas não achei nenhuma receita na internet 🤷♀

The Sri Lankan's pancake called pani pol is similar to the one we have here in Singapore, Malaysia and Indoesia. We called it kueh dadar in Singapore while in Malaysia, it's called ketayap and some other names. The difference is we made it with pandan leaves juice to give it a nice aroma and beautiful green colour while instead of jaggery, we use a similar palm sugar called gula Melaka. The mollassy taste of the sugar, combined with coconut and pandan aroma is omg, yummm.
It’s cooked in both eat and West Indian coastal cuisines. I love this combo. We don’t roll the filling in. We spread it and break the pancake. Also mostly we don’t use eggs. But I love this combo.
Hi Beryl !! Your Sri Lankan pancakes looks just fantastic !! I prefer those in the evening as a snack, although yes it can be eaten as a breakfast too. And yes you can use sugar instead of jaggery.
Sri Lankan breakfasts are intimidating for us younger Lankans too ! I can't believe how my mom put together any food (string hoppers, pittu) in less than an hour.
Another easy to make yet delicious Sri Lankan breakfast is pol roti, meaning coconut roti. It is a breakfast/snack that I often make all by myself !
We use that same coconut filling (pani pol) from the Sri Lankan pani pol pancake with other stuff too---same process, just replace the pancake with string hoppers (lavariya) or stuff it between our traditional milk rice (imbul kiribath). SOOOOO good.
I'm from Brazil and never heard of cachorro com ovo, but i'm very eager to try it!! I love my country!
Eshi did a great job on describing those " pol pani pancakes". That one is really the best one. Totally recommended.....
I don't often comment on videos but just had to - saw the thumbnail and instantly knew it was pani pol pancakes! I am Sri Lankan born in Australia but now living in the US - my mum would make these for us as a sweet treat. We didn't have it often because she had a major sweet tooth and so she made them extra sweet, but they were one of my absolute favourite things to eat! I will have to add these to next weeks meal plan so I can make them for my toddler who has never tried Sri Lankan food!
This makes me so happy!
Eshi - what a beautiful tribute to your dad and to love. It was wonderful to see the picture of you two together when I clicked the recipe. Sending you and your family lots of lovely thoughts💗
Eshi, you made motherland proud. Your voice is so calming.. your vibes are ***chefs kiss***
The Sri Lankan pancake reminds me of kuih ketayap, a local dessert from Malaysia. Except ours is green from the pandan juice and we use palm sugar (gula Melaka) instead of jaggery but it’s definitely super similar.
A German here. I've never heard about that German breakfast in my life, so I guess it will be a Personal thing and not a generell one.
Agreed, totally missleading
She said she got the recipe from a cookbook
Haha, really specific.
Eshi presented pan cakes perfectly. And as you said its not just a food , its an emotion. Btw I preffered to have it as an evening snack. 2-3 pan cakes with a strong ginger tea is always a perfect combo.
I like the new segments of you in the kitchen messing up or thinking about things. It makes the show more… human, for a lack of better words
ah I am so glad, i am enjoying showing you all the truth behind the cooking hahah it's def not perfect
Came here to say the same thing! A welcome additional dimension
That rolled coconut pancake... after I tried it per the recipe, I think I would like to try it with a little spread of cream cheese, maybe some chopped pecans. I know that neither one is a part of Sri Lankan cuisine but why not. 😊
Yes, just jazz it up to your taste 😊
I Love Pani Pol Pancake! You made Pan Cakes perfectly. Sending love from Sri Lanka♥️
Sri Lankan stuff pancakes reminded me of 'Ukadiche Modak'. Which is sweet made during Ganesh Festival in Indian state of Maharashtra.
They are sweet momos, but the wrappers are made from rice flour and stuffed with coconut, ghee and jaggery. Delicious ❤
Ganesh Festival starts from 19th September and I will soon enjoy them.
Sounds amazing. Im sure this would be a hit in Sri Lanka too
In SL Tamil it’s known as Kozhukattai and Ganesh chathurthi is very popular amongst SL Tamil Hindus
As Srilankan , i admire how that was made, looks so local and authentic….
I love this new and more “relaxed” format. It’s great to see you facing the challenges of these recipes, and overcoming any insecurities you feel while having so much fun.
We should all face life obstacles with you same attitude!
As a sri lankan teen growing up is Australia i literally depend on pani pol to drag me through study days. I eat this not only as breakfast but as a snack sometimes. There have been days i eat this for all 3 meals
Beryl. You are really amazing!!! I am Brasilian and I had never heard about CACHORRO COM OVO!!!! You are introducing me to my own Country!!!!! So many thing I am learning with your program!!!!

Seeing Beryl enjoy the Lankan recipe made me emotional. I love our island and its people, and the girls lush description of the exotic ingredients and family felt like home.
Beryl I so loved this video. I felt that young lady's pain about the loss of her father. My father recently passed away. I think my mom would really like her dish, because my mom LOVES coconut, as do I.. Thank you for your hard work in sharing these recipes. I loved your hubby's cameo 😂
We have Pani Pol in Goa as well. it's called Alle Belle and omg it's sooo delicious. Eshi's story and meaning for the dish was so heart warming. Literally got tears in my eyes, so wholesome. (thanks Beryl for making these videos!!!)
Do you guys use egg in Goan recipe as well?
Jaggery & coconut is heavenly combination
Okay the iranian one is right up my alley. Looks ah-may-jin. 💜
Edit: the Sri Lankan pancakes and German orange couscous are going on my list as well, yum. But the pancakes maybe for an afternoon treat cause I'm so not cooking in the morning lol.
Try toasting your walnuts, that gets rid of the bitter flavor. Also my family, esp my mom, always eat green onions dipped in salt, so you’re not weird. 😅 And the lady who shared the pancake dish did the most amazing introduction and description of the dish! She should be on a cooking channel!!❤
Wow, Eshi talking about the pancakes totally hypnotised me.
Overnight couscous! What a great idea, thank you. All of these breakfasts look very tasty.
Another way of making sweet couscous is to cook it with hot water, cocoa powder and sweetener. And then top with PB, yoghurt, chocolate chips, whatever your heart desires. You could probably also make it with hot milk, so it's basically hot cocoa flavour couscous.
Ohh I have leftover mandarin oranges from a tin, so I think I'll make cocoa couscous for breakfast tomorrow to go with them!
Eshi's dad's stoy was so beautiful. As a dad I send you all my love Eshi!
Beryl's cinematography game is only getting better and better!
Oh, I'll have to try the sweet Orangencouscous. The dish seems like such an easy dish, and it looks like you can modify it with any fruits/nuts you have in your cabinet. All the breakfasts showcased looked really stunning and delicious.
Definitely use fresh orange juice and not store bought orange juice it will be a delight in comparison. Fresh is just a different animal!
I try explaining Iranian breakfast and people never get it lol I'm so glad you tried it! Only thing, use a bigger piece of bread so you can make it more like a wrap! It will make it much easier to eat.. I also add olives :)
Your instinct was right to use brown sugar with jaggery when making pani pol! In Sri Lankan households when they run out of jaggery, they often use brown/white sugar with water and prepare sugar honey to combine with shredded coconuts. As a first-timer, you did well with the pancakes. A seasoned pancake maker would make it thinner and add the honey coconut paste while it's still warm coz of two things. First, the heat aid seals the pancakes properly and second, the heat will make the honey drip a little which will make the pancakes even more delicious
For the Iranian dish, my mom would always soak the walnuts. It makes them softer and gives them a fresher flavor. If you still have walnuts, you may want to try that. It might get rid of the dusty flavor. You just need to submerge them in water for at least 30 minutes before eating.
came here to say the same thing! so refreshing!
Okay, commenting again. The orange couscous section of the video just had me cracking up.
I'm a school bus driver and had to call the police today on a couple students on the bus en route. It was a horrid day with lots of fun paperwork for me tomorrow, and this video, especially the orange couscous dish, actually made me laugh out loud several several times.
You're a very talented young lady, Beryl. Keep going.
I loved the dish from Brazil, I'm from the south of Brazil and I remember eating this type of bread with ground meat as well but not with this thick (and I might say very appetizing) souce. I could see how much you were enjoying lol. And I mean egg completes almost every kind of food around here.
Great recepies, thanks for sharing ♥️
Eshi's story made me tear up and the dish looks so good!

omg I've always wanted to see you trying out Saudi cuisine! and Abdulaziz did a great job! masabeeb is a well known and a very much loved dish here in Saudi Arabia. can't wait to see you try more!! 😊💚
Awesome video. I've had the itty-bitty pancakes and they're divine. Beryl it's not at all strange to eat raw scallions. Growing up in the 50s 60s and 70s scallions were often served on a relish/appetiser tray. We'd cut the green shorter and use the remainder for garnishing and also cut the roots off. Salt was nearby and sometimes a small plate with a mound of salt to lay the onion in. Some ate even the greens and some didn't which is why they were cut shorter so as to reduce waste. The pancake rolls look awfully good but really I'd try any one of these recipes.
Love Love LOVE that you're including scenes where you're actually talking while cooking. Adds a new dimension to your already amazing content! 💛
I'm new to your channel. However, I have quickly fallen in love with it. Your humour and your joy for learning/tasting all types of food is a joy to watch. I so very much look forward to exploring the rest of your videos ✌
Ahh yay welcome to the fam!!
Honestly loving the new recording format with the clips of the cooking process.

I'm from Sri Lanka and when she started to talk about pani pol pancakes all of a sudden it got to my mind how my mother made this delicious dish for tea times... And then she said about her dad I cried so much because my mother also died from cancer and I miss her soo much.... May her dad attain the supreme bliss of Nibbana....
I need to have the pani pol pancakes in my life- I looooooove coconut, and that looks like a perfect use for it. All of the recipes this episode look like they were delicious!

Just got back from grocery shopping and added orange juice and couscous to my list after watching this video! Looks so good ... actually, will probably try many of these recipes. Breakfast is so approachable!
Soaking couscous in different liquids was a whole thing when I was a student (I had very minimal cooking equipment and the electric plug-in plate was paaaaiiiiinfully slow to heat) so I tried orange juice too :) I liked it. It’s been so long, maybe I’ll make it for breakfast this week.
I liked soaking it in milk and adding jam too.
