Born and raised in snow country. So we are taught how to deal with it and drive in it at a young age. You did very well in your first snow! Proud of you 👍
Northern Wisconsin born & raised. Yep, I know all about snow, too!
Born & raised in Idaho, and snow is why I live in Southern California. My way of dealing with snow is to live far far away from snow
Yep , 50 miles south of Chicago for 71 years..lol I’d rather snow than high humidity..lol
@christinenovack6048 born in raised in East Central Minnesota. Still here. Missing the snow. We haven't even gotten 3 inches of snow this yr. Compared to amount we're used to. So bummed out.
Learned to drive in the snow when I was 16 in my Volkswagon bug, fun spinning Brody’s in the parking lot.😂
Asking for prayers for my hubby, Brian 😢. He saw the Oncologist and his Cancer was staged at stage 3-C. Prayers are greatly appreciated.
Yes! I would be honored to pray for him and your family. Praying for strength, peace, wisdom, resources, and trust. I know it doesn't seem like it out on the stormy seas, but He's got this- the wind and the waves still obey Him.
Yes, I will pray for your husband. 🙏🙏🙏
Praying for Brian, please God put your healing hands on him so his wife will have him for years to come... Thank you Lord Jesus, and in Jesus name Amen 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Prayers for Brian!❤
Lord if it be your plan please heal Brian of this cancer and provide him with more years with family and friends. But no matter which way you walk them through this battle. Please provide them with peace, comfort, and very skilled physicians to give him the best experience possible! Amen!
So glad all the babies have survived! They are so pretty on the building. Scott is so pretty.
The blue green color on the male peacocks is so pretty 😊❤ You guys are going to have more beautiful birds on the farm with their beautiful feathers spread out. I would love to see all of MaryCarls' pigeons!! I'm glad you will have coffee to take with you guys when you go on your trips.
Peafowls are beautiful. Glad they all made it. Prayers for Brian. Great freeze dry test Brooke. Blessings to Mrs Cog Hill 🙏🫶❤️
I use a small french press coffee maker. You can take your grounds & French press. All you need is hot water. yumm
Brooke, in Ohio we don't even call that snow! You did good for someone who isn't used to that kind of weather!!
Your coffee is exceptional, for sure!! I've never wanted to drink a whole pot of coffee til I had Cog Hill Farm Christmas Coffee!! Amazing!!Freeze-dried Cog Hill Farm coffee?!?! 😱
Yes, please!!!! ❤
I would not have thought you could freeze dryed coffee. What a neet way to take the coffee you love with you. ❤
Brooke, I have a sign in my house..." always be thankful"...so be thankful you learned to clear the snow BEFORE opening the car door...😂
They are indeed beautiful birds. I love all the pigeons, I had no idea there were so many varieties. And the Peacocks, well they are beautiful and I am so glad they all lived.
The freeze dried coffee y'all were sipping on reminds me of my uncle when I was a little girl. He made his coffee so strong that you could stain wood with it! That's how I like my coffee now. Strong enough to make the spoon stand up in my cup! ❤ love y'all bunches!
Ms Brooke I would rather deal with snow than 100 degree temps. I think it's more brave to handle the heat than the cold
Thanks for the peacock update. They are so beautiful. I hope you can keep most of them. Imagine having 20 peacocks roaming around the property 😂
Yea, looked a little strong to me too. I would probably make 2 cups out it that little bit in the jar. ..🥰
Love the birds.
Wow what awesome birds
Would it be possible for you to show us if Mary Carl got any new pigeons at the recent show? You had mentioned that there were some folks there that intended to give some of their birds to her. I'd love to know how many types and what types she now has! That looks like a bunch of beautiful birds there! Hi to you, Jason and Mary Carl!
Thank you,
Heather
Brook we have had 6ft snow in uk.xx but not at the moment.
You might try brewing it less strong and see how it comes out freeze dried. Just thinking it may not come out as strong. But you are right just adjust the ingredients with what you have now.
I'm wondering if you have considered a FRENCH PRESS for traveling. They are very convenient...still need a way for very boiling or very hot water, but it would still be much less hassle than a whole coffee pot system....I think. I use a French Press for my coffee and it's wonderful. ☕
born raised in northern ny and used to bitter cold and lots of snow now as i get older dont enjoy it and i freeze
Soooo, you've essentially made instant coffee! I use a teaspoon of instant for a cup of coffee. 🙂
I had to laugh when you said you hadn’t seen so much snow. We didn’t really get that much. I think I had maybe 3 inches at my house
Brooke you happened to come to Kentucky during the worst cold spell we have had in decades.
While we do get a couple of snows in the winter its usually around an inch or so but not nearly that cold!
We dont have many days weather in the single digits or teens. And we certainly don’t have the minus degree weather like we did last week.
Its back up in the 50s now.
I don’t think we even had a measurable snow last winter. Or maybe barely measurable.
Our weather is so unpredictable it’s crazy you can go from t shirt to overcoat weather in one day.
It’s a true joke around here that says if you don’t like the weather in Kentucky just wait 15 minutes, it will change.
While it doesn’t change that fast i have gone from having the heat on in the morning to running the air conditioning in the afternoon. More times than I would like to admit.
You are a very brave woman to head out on a trip with it has snow and that low of a cold. You go girl.
If you had gotten stuck in the snow, you could have done a quick live stream and im sure that you would have had several fans that would have been excited to come and help pull or push you out
You should give Arms family a pair.
Morning Brooke ❤❤❤
Beautiful pigeons. I’m learning lots about birds and Alabama natives who never see snow😅Did you take minute to go sledding?
BROOKE - Will the male peacocks mate with their female pea hen siblings? Will Daddy Peacock mate with his female offspring? Thank you for sharing!
Good morning Brooke, when you showed the pigeons in the coup I didn't see the VICTORIAN CROWN PEGONS in the background????? DO YOU STILL HAVE THE VICTORIAN CROWN PEGONS????? 😘 Thank you for ALL your videos.
They are in the aviary behind that one and would have been hard to see them 🤗
@@mrscoghillfarm I saw them walking behind the pigeons on the ground but I was looking for them.
I'm retired now, but oh the days of snow
When we had it ( Virginia)..I was taught to clean, not windows, & windshield but the whole entire vehicle..😂😅, sorry to lol, but as soon as I was your car I just knew what was coming next..I got laughed at cause I always carried broom in my vehicle to clean the snow off....The babies are Diffently have grow so...There were Diffently some unusual pigeons at the show..
Brooke your just thinking all the time.
I don't mind snow. It is easier to walk on snow than ice, mud, and algae. On ice, it's best to shuffle like a penguin or add ice cleats to your shoes. We used to get deep snow. Now we mostly get a dusting of the non sticking kind of snow that either melts or gets washed away by rain the next day. They are good about clearing the roads here. We got two to three inches of snow a week ago. Now we have rain. Last few Winters, it rained more than it snowed. I love the flavor of coffee. I love coffee Nips (a hard candy that softens to a soft texture but you have to suck on it a long time to get to that stage), coffee ice cream, java chip Oreos, and Sis gave me coffee flavored M&M's (not sure where she got them).
I’m not sure if y’all can get Bluebell Ice cream in Alabama, they have a really good coffee ice cream. We have really liked having it available.
❤
What do you mean by bars on wings. Hard to see on video
North Dakota gets from 100 to neg 60 and at times even colder. It’sthe strangest thing that’s a big gap. I’d love it if it didn’t get this cold my body can’t handle cold
wish you had shown how much coffee you got!
When you add water to the freeze-dried coffee, wouldn't it dilute the coffee?
No. The freeze drying process removes all the water from the coffee, so you have to add it back in.
Brooke could you send me the link for the freeze dryer .. been wanting to order me one .. how to give you credit for your page ? I am not good with buying stuff on line .. going to have a friend help me to purchase a freeze dryer..❤😊
How do they not breed to different types of pigeons?
Can’t you just take the ground coffee and freeze it? Some of the stuff I have seen like instant it would look like that I think.
Looks like Mary Carl's gonna need a bigger coop!
Waaaaaaay bigger 🤣😂 I remember her mentioning months ago that she had around 70 pigeons! 🤣😂 She’s probably sold or given away some though
If you build they will come
Brooke, if you take cream and sugar, you can add that into your coffee before you freeze dry it and then you wouldn't have to add anything to it when reconstituted. I looked it up and it is fine to do it that way too! :)
Thank you, Brooke 🥰
You've made a basic instant coffee with your Coghill coffee ☕️ A normal cup/mug would usually take about a teaspoon of coffee granules/powder if you're going to add milk or cream to your cup. You have great ideas for the freeze dryer 🤎
Have a lovely, relaxing day, Brooke 🥰🥰
Love the peacocks. Just beautiful. Thank you for all the great videos of your farm.
Freeze dried coffee sounds like a good idea to bring on trips etc. Hotels usually have the worse coffee. Loved the pea fowl. I am glad they all lived.
Brooke, if you have an abundance of freeze dried coffee, market it and sell it. I will buy it now!!!❤❤❤
Would proably save on the 15 $ shipping
My Granny made coffee flavored frosting 😊
Good Morning Brooke, thank you for your wonderful smile. I’m glad you had a good time with MaryCarl and got to experience a different environment of winter life and that you took on the Challenge like a Champ. The Peacocks are a wonderful family group and yes you can’t tell the babies from the parents. The coffee experiment looks like it provided the perfect outcome, what would happen if you freeze dried just the ground coffee bean grains right out of the bag? 😀👍👍👍
You would still have to brew the coffee in a coffee pot if you freeze dried the coffee grounds out of the bag👍🏼
Brooke you should brew the coffee really really strong then you would only need a smidge of freeze-dried coffee to a cup !!!! 🥰🙏 And you didn't show us how it looked when you took it of the trays ???
NO, But Kinda she got some on a spoon.. and she did hold the tray up when she took it out. So???
I had no idea MC had that many pigeons. WOW!
You should add milk or cream to the coffee before freeze drying. Then you have coffee light crystals.
I put freeze dried coffee in brownies! Also chocolate cake.
I make my last payment in Feb on my Freeze dryer, my daughter travels for her job so I will definitely do,this for her. Thanks for trying and letting us know,❤😊
I don’t know if y’all realize this, but freeze dried coffee is actually what instant coffee is.
I knew that and was thinking Brooke's freeze dried coffee would look just like the crystal type instant coffee but it didn't, so now I'm wondering what they add to make it look like the instant coffee?
@@LoriM222Never had a decent cup of instant coffee, hers might be so much better.
@@julieduree9210 It's got to be cuz a lot of stuff on the market is garbage! Thanks for the reply
Will you find homes for the newxmale peacocks?
So happy they survived ❤
We live in Indiana and I just don’t leave the house unless I have to from December to March. 😂 Glad you guys made it home safe and got to experience the snow. ❄️
Would it be possible to use plastic ice cube trays so you'd have cubes to put in baggies to store it?
Great idea! I use ice cube trays to freeze my home made pesto and salsa.
I was thinking the same thing
Great idea! How about a batch of tea in the freeze dryer?! South is known for sweet tea using Luzianne.
many years ago my son went to the world pee wee hockey tournament in Quebec City. They had snow ports connecting from curbs to the garages for homes because the snow was 10 plus feet on either side of the driveways.
I live in ky. Right outside Louisville. It doesn't snow like that all winter. Maybe once maybe twice. Today it is 55 degrees. It fluctuates like that in ky. Glad u got to come and see us! Sorry about the cold!
Love seeing all the pigeons. Didn’t realize she had so many. Love what you did with the coffee. Great idea.
I’ve always wanted a peacock 🦚 and when we were kids we would go on field trips and were able to buy peacock feathers for $1.00 later my brother worked at the Zoo as security guard and the peacocks scared him with the loud noises they made at night when he was driving through the zoo. It was a drive through only called Lion County Safari in Irvine California. Good times
Brooke. When my husband and I lived in Costa Rica They freeze-dry the beans and then are dipped in chocolate or Carmel and it’s sold as candy. But you can only eat a few or you would be buzzed all day. Lol
I’ve been hoping you would try to freeze dry coffee! I emailed you about it but you get so much communication I’m sure you didn’t see it! On our trip to Europe it was all freeze dried coffee in the hotels and it was awful! I wished I could bring my own!
same
I took driver's Ed in winter in the Midwest!! There was a good 3-5 inches of snow the whole time!! Good times 😂
I watch This Alaska Life on RUclips and she does a lot of freeze drying. She said she found for every 3 oz of freeze dried solid add 1 cup of water. Hope that helps.
Good morning everyone 💜🦚💜🐄💜🦆💜🐔💜🐓💜🐐💜🕊💜🐤💜🐴💜🐕💜🐈⬛💜🚜💜☕
Snow sports are fun! When one grows up playing in the snow, one gets many happy memories playing in the snow. Michigan is a winter wonderland in the winter season. Beautiful!
My sis adds coffee to her brownies. Very good. I do wish they made a tabletop or apartment-sized freeze dryer.
You can put leftover coffee in brownies and chocolate cake, tiramisu, pot roast, chili and red eye gravy !!! Yum But freeze dried when you have the time and energy sounds like a great use also. Or in the ice cube tray in the freezer for iced coffees and frappuccino’s ☺️
Rightttt
I agree it's just me but wish they made small freeze driers
My sister has the small freeze drier , it's pretty small ! Would definitely fit in a apt
Coffee is part of my chocolate icing, too.
While your talking Peacocks 🦚 one of the Men in Black went waddling by, and I love those ducks. I am not sure what kind they are but I love the way they walk like their standing straight up, so cute. I know what your saying about hotel coffee ☕ 😏 not so good. I remember there used to be a instant coffee that was advertised as a freeze dried coffee ☕ it seems like it was Sanka 🤷♀️ loved the video thanks for sharing....Rene' from Michigan 😊❤
Yes M'am hotel coffee is sure not fit to drink!
I remember freeze dried coffee being on the market-maybe Folgers?
The peacocks- are you going to keep all current flock- thereby allowing them to continue to multiply? Brooke- I enjoyed your report on the snow🤭...we southern folks just have not acquired the skills and tricks to deal with that frozen stuff...anymore than our northern friends can deal with serious heat! But you got a few lessons this trip. So glad to see you a bit chipper, take care of yourself❣️
I agree with you 💯 They can have that snow it's pretty but...can't deal animals water freezes up gets slippery
Yes, if you are not used to the snow it can be overwhelming. Recently moved from northern Utah to East Tennessee. Still not used to everything shutting down but I understand why, for sure.
Those men in black ducks are absolutely hilarious!! I can't see them without thinking of the movie. That was the perfect name for them. LOL.
I make a “hamburger gravy” sometimes to serve over rice (or potatoes or noodles). I always add some instant coffee as part of the seasoning; it enriches the flavor and makes it taste like i cooked it for hours like a stew.
Patty can you give a recipe or how you incorporate the coffee sounds good thank you
Hey Patty...this coastal Alabama gal has never tried that "trick" with the coffee, very cool ! And yes, I too make a "hamburger" gravy that goes greatbon everything, even a big hunk of garlic bread!
My stepmother called that hamburger gravy Cowboy stew she seved it over mashed potatoes mostly. Does adding coffee makes it redeye gravy?
Red-Eye Gravy
My mother used to add coffee to her ham drippins, think she called it "red eye" gravy...anyhoo,it tasted great on grits!
Hi Brooke-most of the instant coffee available in the grocery stores are freeze dried coffee crystals. If you google freeze dried coffee, there is a lot of info on the best way to reconstitute your freeze dried coffee granules plus many recipes using the granules.
I love your Cog Hill Coffee & wonder if you might consider adding a freeze dried version to the Cog Hill store?
I grew up in Indiana, in my day we were taken out to parking lots and taught how to drive in the snow before we actually got our license. We were also taught how to not let snow fall into our car, lol. You did great in your first snow. I loved this video. Jason tickeled the daylights out of me. I love you guys so much. You make my day, Thank you
Good Morning Brooke, hope you’re feeling well today. Take care and stay warm.
That was just a dusting of snow! Glad you stayed safe
Good morning from Coastal Georgia.
I was just watching the news as they were reporting the snow and storms, and flooding in various parts of the nation. It’s historic weather.
We are blessed to have the weather that we have, although sometimes we do get really hot and really cold.
I pray for those who are affected by the devastating storms.
May they be protected by the Lord Jesus. Amen. 🙏🏽
I love all y'all's videos and y'all make me laugh a lot 😀😀😀
Love the peacocks, such a beautiful bird .I live in snow at least 8 months out of the year.
I buy the Taster Choice coffee which is freeze dried. I add 1 teaspoon of the coffee to a 10 oz. mug and it's just right
Glad y'all made it home safely. Can you ask Mary Carl to show us her new birds? God Bless and I love y'all 💕💕💕
Lol oh my yup clean snow off first
I think they make little cotton tea bags that you could use to put grounds in then steep in hot water. Just dont use coffee bags as tea bags too.
Born & raised in Minn-e-SNOW-ta where we are taught at an early age the importance of brushing off the snow before opening the door. 🙂 I understand AND appreciate the beauty and differences in the character and climate of the diverse and wonderful country we live in. "From the mountains to the prairies my home sweet home"
For a car trip, take your regular coffee and a jug of your water. There's always a coffee maker in the hotel room. Alternatively, take a long an aero press and use the coffee maker just to heat the water.
I think that the coffee powder would be amazing added to a buttercream or a pudding or batter... or even a cocktail!
*I'm a baker, and an all-around foodie, so that's where my mind goes❤
Espresso Powder is available on Amazon. I’ve heard it’s an excellent addition to baked goods even frostings. ☕️🧁
@@ja_Iam oh yeah I do all kinds of things with it. It definitely intensifies the taste of any chocolate dessert! I regularly sneak just a touch in those!! 😁
Good morning from Orlando FL.
You can also get a Keurig and a reusable k-cup and just make a cup of your coffee at a time in the hotel room.
I’m so happy you’re back home safe and sound and “warmer” in Alabama! But glad you enjoyed the pigeon show. I could not believe how big the young peacocks are now! I did see exactly what you were talking
about how to identify the male vs females. I’m so happy you have 3 more male peacocks added to Cog Hill Farm to spread even more beauty along with dad!!
Love, love love it when you freeze dry anything! But the coffee….
was a fantastic idea! Love you all so much and every single critter in your loving care!!!!!❤️❤️❤️
With love,
Kathy
Washington State🇺🇸👋🏻🥰
Tasters Choice is freeze dried instant coffee and basically what you have done is to make your own freeze dried instant Cog Hill Farm coffee.
Thats pretty amazing that it worked. What a great idea. I used to travel a lot and its hit or miss for a good cup of coffee when traveling.
I recently made a cake that had liquid coffee and an ingredient and it was really good! It was barely detected in the final cake but so good.
I am thinking that you could put the freeze dried coffee in a grinder and sprinkle a little of it on top of that cake i made after it was iced and be even better. It was a Reeces peanut butter cup cake. Not cup cakes it was a full size cake.
So happy you shared your experience with your freeze dried coffee. It’s amazing how freeze drying does what it does. Love y’all. ❤❤
Thank you for showing us the peacocks I was just thinking about them and wondering how they were doing. Mary Carl's pigeons are beautiful. You were funny about the snow, I guess living with it my entire life we don't know any difference.
Here in Idaho we get a bunch of snow in winter and 100 degrees in summer too.
Kentucky is 60 degrees today 06/25/2024 with rain today
Okie here, I agree...I don't know how ppl live where it snows all winter long.🤷♀️BLESSINGS TO ALL THE SNOW COVERED STATES THROUGHOUT WINTER.

Good evening from Australia
