I'm sorry for replying only now. When you're drawing in black, white and grey, all you have to note is how light or dark an image is (it's about light, shadow and contrast). But when you're painting, you need to take note of colours. What colour clashes or matches blue/green/any colour? You have to make decisions on them, plus you still have to take note of light and shadow. That's why I'll rather not paint yet. Also, I think BEFORE you take advice from me, you might want to see my skill.
ah this is awesome . i try to buy marko's art whenever i can. he definitly inspires me as an artist. the cover he was working on is the daredevil 500 cover wich comes out on august 19th 2009
Yes, replying to a comment made 1 year ago. I know someone who kept drawing on a normal table. Now he's having back problems. Stress that's continuously inflicted on the body adds up. You can still put your hand on a slanting table if you want - there's even different ways of holding a pencil to create different pencil strokes.
ok cool. I was actually just thinking of that issue yesterday again and here you answered my question ! Ok so if I rest like a part of my hand on the table (or board) it will not screw up an 'advanced technique' or something ? Actually I was also thinking it might be an issue if I am painting - you don't want mess up the painting as you are doing it cause of the hand on the board, that could be another thing !
Id like to see a second Demo DVD of Marko doing is Painting and Cover work. Call it "Cover Ideation" Cool Vid, Nice to see the small bits of Drawing/Paint action.
Thx for the explianation. i am new at this - when you say "learnt painting" do you mean learning how to paint after he learnt how to draw ? or learnt how to draw/paint period ! Some people just have the talent no doubt. What is the best way to learn to draw - I eventually want to paint. thx I am also looking for that interview, searching the site I am also checking that link you gave me - looking for the interview
It won't matter that much. I've read a few artists saying that the oils on the hand will get absorbed by the paper, which makes inking harder or that the graphite will smudge. Haven't had that problem yet, but it might happen later on. Anyway you paint on an easel (for oils), but I don't know that much about painting and colour theory yet. By the way, Marko Djurdjevic had an interview on Sidebarnation(dot)com. He said he learnt painting in a few months. Imagine that. A. FEW. MONTHS.
It would NOT do if you happened to be better than me and I gave you advice that leads you the wrong way. I've uploaded some of my current studies and brainfarts to my deviantart account (in scraps). It's Chickenlover13(dot)deviantart(dot)com. If you feel that I have sufficient skill, then ask me further. Otherwise I think there's this guy willing to give art instruction (don't know if he charges).
He should upload or make a video tutorial on how he paints his sketches. The guy is amazing..
I love Djurdjevic's works, especially his covers for Thor

wow... completely self taught? really awesome. goes to show that art is something that is in you and can't just be taught to you in some class room.

@Eraiasu but that makes it hard on the hands - if you do not rest part of your hand on the table than the hand will get tired.
