    I'd love to see the differences on the scree, my del mar scree32 is my go to for most outdoorsy/travel pursuits. I'm not sure all the Scree changes are for the best for the generalist, seems much more geared to mountaineers than an all-rounder like the previous version.

      Yes, I have posted my observation on the same...I am disappointed to see how Mystery Ranch has revised the SCREE backpacks for 2024...SO GLAD I bought the prior model SCREE 32 last year.

      Agree of course. Planning a scree-only video soon.

    I am SO GLAD I bought the prior model SCREE 32-L, because it seems they downgraded with the redesign for the SCREE 33. It appears the SCREE now has been redesigned in 2024 SPECIFICALLY for the alpine or rock climbing community.
    The prior model SCREE 32-L was an OUTSTANDING all around Day Pack for a day's outing requiring a bit more comfort gear capacity or would absolutely provide capacity to pack for a single overnight camp if needed. The side stretch pockets on the SCREE 32 were a definite asset. My SCREE 32 is the "Go-To" Daypack now and love it. I really don't understand the redesign for the SCREE 33...seems like they ruined the potential for that Pack to be an awesome all-around Daypack...now only serving a specific pack scenario.

      That appears to be the case. Planning on a Scree specific video deep-dive soon

    Pretty cool bag. Hows the ventilation?

      Fair ventilation I’d say.

    Have you had a chance to test the weatherproofness of the radix considering it has that Aquagaurd zipper which is a little different than most top loading ultralight bags

    • @YTusercomment
      @YTusercomment 10 месяцев назад +1

      The RADIX backpacks may offer some water resistance, but in a continual rain will not be waterproof. Recommend a waterproof backpack rain cover or a waterproof bag liner.

    • @DaemonViews
      @DaemonViews 10 месяцев назад +2

      For about every pack I recommend an internal waterproof bag.
      Raincover will not do the trick.
      Experience in Scotland and in number of Scandinavian countries that thought me so the hard way.
      Trash bag works so it's easily fixed and costs nothing.

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  10 месяцев назад +1

      What they said. Nothing is waterproof so internal liner bag or external rain cover for the heavy stuff.

    I have three different backpacks from Mystery Ranch, Beartooth 80, Bridger 65L, and the Radix 31. I picked up the Radix 31 to try out for a Camino de Santiago trip scheduled for later this summer/early fall. I think it will be a perfect overall size for the trip.. I like that the Radix has the aqua guard zipper for the main compartment. I have the same aqua guard zippers on my Beartooth 80. I would have liked to have seen Mystery Ranch put those zippers on my Bridger 65L as well.

      Good choice! Radix is awesome. If the size works it’s a great option

      I purchased the RADIX 47-liter on a 25% Discount sale that Mystery Ranch ran on President's Day. Great backpack...it's designated as a lightweight backpack for longer Section Hike uses.

    Was looking at this on their site the other day as I've been looking for a bag with a side zipper opening, just tired of digging in my pack from the top trying to find something. Wish this had at least one water bottle sleeve on the harness as an option though, now I'm torn between the Radix and Bridger.

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  4 месяца назад

      I prefer the Bridger for the harness…and I wish they had used the Bridger style straps on the radix

    • @DarrenGerbrandt
      @DarrenGerbrandt 4 месяца назад

      @@JBOutside1 yeah kinda of leaning towards the Bridger for that as well, going to watch your video on them now and see which way I lean after that. Looks like our local distributor where I live doesn't carry the Radix yet but does have the Bridger 45 & 65.

  • @erictustison
    @erictustison 3 месяца назад

    Can you see any way to attach a GoRuck plate inside the Radix, either directly to the exposed frame, or with a Shaddox Plate Pocket, or making use of those 4 orange accessory loops somehow? (I'm eyeing the Radix 57)

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  3 месяца назад +1

      Not really. Best advice would be to add weight another way, like sandbags or water bottles/bladder

    Coming in a little late to when you published this. You gave stats to all the bags. What’s the “comfortable” total weight each can carry? I think I am torn between the Radix and Bridger. I’m hoping the Radix carry’s weight well though it doesn’t have as nice of straps or that vest style as the Bridger, but I like the other features and price.

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  4 месяца назад +2

      Great question and depends mostly on you honestly. These FULL FEATURE packs (as opposed to ultralight designs) are overbuilt to take the abuse. Case in point, I was training this week with 35 lbs using an ultralight design...it doesn't hold up at that weight...so back to the Bridger I am going. Why? Because at heavier weights the beefy waist belt feels better and the straps hold up. So I really think it's about the amount of stuff and volume you need more than the weight. Whatever size you need, it will take it. But can you?

    • @JarradShaw
      @JarradShaw 4 месяца назад

      Lol, thanks. That was a great answer and could be a great motivation poster too, lol😊
      That makes sense. I’m shooting for 30 however I have a feeling we are going to be in-between 35 and 37. Eric Hansen said the Radix could hold 40 lbs, but he wasn’t the biggest fan of the strap’s thickness. I appreciate your help in this. Can’t wait to start watching more videos from you!

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, 40lbs is possible but you're definitely gonna feel it. I've been training at 35-37 with a backpacking pack and when I go up in weight I really prefer the Bridger set-up...in fact...if you follow Eric on Instagram, his latest outing was in the Bridger.

    • @JarradShaw
      @JarradShaw 4 месяца назад

      Yeah… i did. I know he’s been trying out new different light and ultralight designs, but I know his go-to favorite when all else doesn’t seem right seems to be the Bridger. Alright, I will thanks again for this chat. It really helps think tanking this kind of venture.

    Nice video, I would have liked to see a general intro of what the pack was designed for from MM (ie- is it a daypack, a multi-day pack, etc)? Are you promoting it as a day pack, a 3-day pack?

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  8 месяцев назад

      They market this as a “lightweight” backpacking pack. This is the smaller version. Thanks for the feedback!
