    I don't know why, but this story just strikes a chord in my soul. I feel so terrible for the children. The trauma they will go through when they get older and realize that they were home at the time their mother was murdered. The fact that their father did it. I hope they can get past it all, but them keeping the grandchildren from Maya's parents is so harsh of his parents. They keep victimizing them.

    • @p0pos309

      If they didn't have something to hide they would keep the grandchildren away from Mayas parents/family.

    My heart breaks as much for Maya’s children as it does for Maya. They are caught in the middle of a nightmare, cut off from their mother’s family and are surely being indoctrinated to believe that their mom not only doesn’t love them she also abandoned them to selfishly start a new life with someone else. I hope there will be justice for Maya and her family will be able to gain custody of her kids.

    • @melissaconnellyjones2622
      @melissaconnellyjones2622 10 месяцев назад +10

      I know it’s innocent until proven guilty but honestly if you are accused of such a horrific crime you shouldn’t be allowed to have a say in your child(rens) custody and the victims family should be the first choice for placement. I don’t understand why our legal system doesn’t recognize that? It’s like the Josh Powell case. The state of Washington cared far more about his “parental rights” than the safety and wellbeing of his boys, even though he had repeatedly disobeyed numerous court orders.

    • @magnus1001
      @magnus1001 10 месяцев назад +2

      Agreed. I would think it would be better for them to not be in their hometown where tongues are wagging, neighbors are likely prying and kids at school can repeat things to Maya's kids that they hear their parents say.

    • @19holly19
      @19holly19 9 месяцев назад +6

      Once his parents allowed the father to speak to the children against the court order they should have been removed and sent to their maternal grandparents home regardless of location. Like the other person commenting said, they are probably better off farther away from all the chaos and can have a better chance at a halfway normal childhood.

    • @magnus1001

    • @victory8928

      The law in this case is just lazy they want to maintain paternal rights cause it is less work that and cause these laws value the right of a parent over the rights of children were the children even considered prior to these arrangements or just an afterthought?

    The fact he stopped her family from seeing the kids is an absolute disgrace , how the courts allowed this is criminal in itself , her family should have rights to see those children and the fact he is the main suspect in killing and disposing her body means he should never have been allowed access to the children.
    I find this part of the case when it comes to the people in charge an utter embarrassment.

    I’m extremely disappointed that the court chooses to leave the children with HIS parents just because it might disrupt their lives to move them to a different ‘town’ (at least I’m guessing moving to another town is what the disruption is). But it’s okay to leave them with the parents of a man who believes in, and used, black magic spells. Hmmmm . . . Maybe his parents didn’t teach him to use black magic, because they don’t, but they sure as heck didn’t teach him NOT to use black magic. That might be a small hint as to what some of their quarrels were over. I mean, you set up a black magic alter with blood on it in my house and there’s going to be a shit-ton of trouble. (Just say’n.) 🙂

    It's now January 17th 2024. I can't find anything online to suggest the trial finally got started yesterday.
    The American system can be extremely slow. Not many people realise the UK actually has limits on how long it can be between being charged and going to trial... I believe in England and Wales it's 181 days and shorter in Scotland.
    Except the pandemic messed that up of course.

    It is a miscarriage of justice that the children are forced to stay with the parents of the man who murdered their Mother. During his countless illegal phone calls with the kids he probably flooded their heads with crazy information so that they won't be able to remember anything about the night he murdered Maya. It's almost a given that he and his parents speak negatively about Maya and repeatedly tell them she left willingly and doesn't love them. The judge was also wrong about not wanting to uproot the kids from their hometown. On the contrary it would be good for them to move to their maternal Grandparents or Aunt's residence away from gossip and nosey neighbors. Poor Maya. She should have taken the kids and left the creep. She could have stayed at a safe house for victims of domestic violence until her divorce was final. As controlling as he was he probably would have found her anyway. Tragic.

    Wow, it’s so crazy hearing about stories that happened in my hometown; I grew up in San Diego, spent most of my life in Vista, and La Jolla/Claremont. At 24 I moved to Florida, and as everyone knows, there is no shortage of craziness coming from all over this state. I consistently read about murders happening in my same county, and yet it doesn’t hit me as much as hearing about crimes that occurred right there in the middle of my childhood neighborhoods. I dno if that will make sense to anyone else but yeah, it’s a weird feeling.
    On another note! Good lord!!These kind of situations are always so sad. I will never understand how people can frkn *MURDER* someone that they supposedly “love”. If you love someone, you want them to be happy, you want what’s best for them, even if it means heartache. Right? How the hell can you look someone in the eye and say you love them while conflicting pain on them as well?..

Most likely this type of man never thinks he’s wrong, no, everyone else is wrong not me..He won’t let the kids see their grandma or auntie?
    I bet he didn’t even think about couples therapy or trying to be a better man, no instead he takes the cowards way out. It’s shocking the police took so long to arrest him! Funny feeling I bet the male police sympathized with him for having a cheating wife before learning how terrible of a person he truly is. Funny I bet that’s why they won’t let the kids stay with Maya family 😮 he’s the villain the children shouldn’t be with his family!
