First let me say I support Albert's selection. It seems some people won't be satisfied until she does a Cersei walk of shame. That said, the reason wearing a cross is offensive is because it represents the homophobia that Albert was indoctrinated into. Moreover, a cross on a USA jersey is contrary to America's freedom from a state religion. On the other hand, jerseys supporting Pride exalt America's principles that ALL PEOPLE are equal under the law. The attempted analogy does not work.

I think that football needs to try to appeal to communities that have views that are different, like you pretty much said before. Having come from a different background and apologising for causing such a dilemma, it would be hard not to pick a player, if they fit the playing system.

Korbin clearly didn't care who she would hurt with her actions. I think people often forget that it's not about their opinions or beliefs on the Lgbtq+ community that is wrong because everyone is entitled to such. What makes it wrong is the way some choose to express themselves on the topic because most people can be extremely ruthless, hurtful, and hateful towards someone who chose a non-traditional lifestyle. The least thing someone can do is be respectful towards those who choose to live their life differently and that goes across the board whether you're from the community or not. As a society we are lacking a whole lot of empathy, tolerance, respect, kindness and love for one another. At the end of the day, we are all human, and the hate should be the last thing we give out.

I'm old enough to remember what the argument by regressive Christians used to be. I remembered growing up the comment was "America is a democracy and the majority rules. Because the majority of Americans are against gays, trans, blacks, women equality, the minority should abide by the majority. There was a movement called "The Moral Majority" They didn't use the inclusiveness or diversity argument. They want the majority voice to dominate and be the singular voice. Things have changed and the religious right is no longer the majority and so they argument they used have shifted. What it means is that they recognized that they are no longer the majority and are now "pleading" that their minority voices be given equal weight.

US soccer needs to address the issue rather than sweep it under the carpet. All we've heard is an apparent apology from Ckorbin and two straight team members saying something vague. Croix Bethune is playing better than the player causing all of this controversy. I feel sad that this institution is crumbling because a 20 year old's views were not appropriately shut down and instead she seems to be protected and rewarded. Personally the bitter, injured part of me wants the USA to lose to Zambia and be out early so we can be done with them embracing the homophobe. I am also no longer on Emma's side especially when you take some comments made earlier in the year into consideration about gay relationships within teams. If Kcorbin had made racial slurs we would not be seeing her for some time. She wasn't talking about pineapple on pizza she was dismissive and hateful about homosexual humans and seemed to be celebrating the injuring of Megan Rapinoe. Second, why are people not taking about Korbin endorsing a message saying Megan Rapinoe deserved to tear her Achilles in the final game of her career which is unbelievably disgusting. I am frustrated that US Soccer isn’t making it known to fans that they’re having positive conversations because we don’t see any progress and I am not in support of her. I will continue cheering for the USWNT, but Korbin hasn’t played well in recent matches which is even more curious. This poor girl has gotten so much hate online. I am very happy that women’s soccer has blocked her name so she can’t see the vile shit people are saying about her. Imagine playing for your country and getting booed because of the way she was brought up. Keep in mind I don’t agree with religion and what they teach their kids. But at the end of the day that narrow mindedness is how she was brought up.
But here you have a whole community of people that were obviously hurt by her actions. She has apologized, and none of us can invalidate her apology. Because none of us know her and are in her head.
But let’s just say her being a young kid, sheltered, by religion. This is her first adult mistake in the real world. I don’t think her mom stays with her and France. She’s living on her own for the first time and imagine reading constant. Hate about herself from a group of people that she knew she hurt. If you were her, would you want to support a community that is so vile after you’ve made a mistake and apologize for it?
I can be honest with you and the way this community is treating her would definitely turn me off from all of them.
She’s young. She’s a kid. She made a mistake. I guess the whole LGBTQ plus community makes no mistakes. They’ve never said something to hurt another person? Oh wait, isn’t that exactly what they’re doing to her now?
I love women’s soccer, but the amount of politics that this group of people brings into the sport is exhausting. It’s a sport. It’s supposed to be fun. Stop making it political.

Make the so called apology disappear after 24 hrs and make the people who speak up about it be two other privileged white women. Make the organisation she is part of say absolutely nothing and then make the organisation select her to represent the country. I don't think Korbin cares what the queer community think and may not care about them booing. She probably does care about other straight people booing and hating on her for her active bullying in 2024.Btw...sport is only political when someone makes it that way. Korbin posted the hate...not a small amount or even once. Again...if a USA national representative posted racial hate (bit off some politics) we'd all know what to do. Because of their team mentality and the way they work for each other, it's not just as simple as putting the best players out there. But this is a channel devoted to women's soccer with particular emphasis on LGBTQ+ athletes. The channel owners and the participants are going to be people who believe Korbin made a mistake. The discussion here will be about whether she has done enough to earn forgiveness, or the prioritization of football needs over other objectives, or the actions of the team in censoring discussion of Korbin on the roster, and so forth. There isn't going to be a discussion here about whether or not she made a mistake. On this channel, that's a given.
