Seeing it from start to finish, honestly incredible, these lionesses are absolute Legends, no international tournament won either men or women since 1966 and they played like that in the history books forever. Great to see, I can't imagine what it would have felt like to have been there. I can see a movie in the making, or at least someone should do one, well deserved and feel so so proud. I know it was weeks ago now but I'll never forget it. Thankyou. Just hope FIFA will make the change on equal pay, the way it should be.
To me this hits differently from watching men's football, the enjoyment for the game (as such) was the same but the real impact is the reach of the achievement for so many who wished well but thought this would never happen... (and many wished not so well...), not just because of the trophy but in the way the team performed when chips were down. So many moments, Stanway vs Spain, Mead's footwork, Toone chip vs Sweden, Russo backheel. Kelly in the final. Touch of class, inspiration, consistent effort and team spirit.
I remember watching the final with my dad and when that final whistle blew it was a mix of celebrations and bittersweetness... Only because I remember wishing my stepmum had been alive to see us win. She passed away in February of this year, and she loved football. She was 10 when the England men last won the World Cup - back then, girls weren't allowed to play, and women were BANNED by the FA - only because they were successful at it. And I just remember that night, going to bed and shedding a tear - because I knew she would've been celebrating so hard if she watched it with us in person 💜
I honestly believe this Lioness squad would progress further than the men's squad in Qatar . I have a lump in my throat and proud tears in my eyes... thank you, Sarina and the Lionesses for making us proud to be English!

Sitting here on a cold September night and remembering... I was going to say that it was the best thing about last summer, but for me it was the best thing about the whole year. Every one of them won my heart (especially Alicia 'Mad Dog' Russo. That back-heeled goal against Sweden combined persistence with ingenuity and it left me open-mouthed. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it in 60 years of watching football.)

Me too the men need to watch and take notes footballs a team sport too many players on the mens side play for individual pride and greed spend more time passing the ball among defense or around the box too scared to shoot incase they miss. Rather you shoot and miss then go playing pinball then look shocked when you lose the ball and lose matches. Can't win if the balls always with defenders or if you never shoot
I was at Norway and Spain and the moment Toone scored against Spain I just knew we'd go all the way! The game was drifting away but we found a way to save it and that showed the character of the team I also may have ran my Norwegian Fiancee just before the Final whistle in the final just to rub it in a little 😂 Under Wiegman we have a real chance of being double champions this time next year
At my primary school, the best player was a girl called Penny who just loved playing. Sadly girls were not supposed to play football seriously in those days. I like to think that these lovely ladies fulfilled her in some way.
6:35 - the moment England fans' hearts sank. The moment we all briefly thought 'oh no'. I remember sitting in the stadium, watching the Lionesses but also the clock counting down. 10 minutes. 9. 8. 7. And then Tooney popped up and the stadium erupted!! We were back in the game. Hope restored. And then came Georgia's howitzer of a strike, pretty much blowing the roof off the Amex Stadium. An amazing, incredible feeling.
