      Watching any England football team has been very painful in the past, feels surreal to finally see an England team win a major tournament in my lifetime!

    • @donmontague4107
      @donmontague4107 2 года назад +2

      Yeah! And we were always good enough to win it (in fact from 1986 to the early 2000s). The girls actually won the Mundialito (precursor to the World Cup) in 1985 and 1988, but the standards were lower. We won the SheBelieves Cup recently, but on a major level, this is the first time we have seen our country (in football) proclaimed Champions...which is bizarre. However, under Mark Sampson England women also deserved to win a couple of major tournaments. That they didn't was largely down to Milly Bright and a couple of other players making hideous, massive mistakes in the knockout rounds. We've always been deserving. But now - ironically when we are past our peak, and have the very manager who cheated us out of the last tournament - we can actually Say that we are the best!
      It's an odd world. When we have Paul Scholes, Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, and so on (in the women's game, Rachel Unitt, Izzy Christiansen, Jordan Nobbs, Toni Duggan, Jodie Taylor, Alex Greenwood) we get nothing. When we have Kiera Walsh, Demi Stokes, Williamson and Hemp, we win. If I've learnt anything about football, it's that you could be the best in the world for years - it's not enough; the winner of a cup almost always has luck on their side.
      Argentina, Spain and Weigmanns Netherlands are a few of the best examples. And 'luck' might be quite a soft word for it too. Remember when that Jamaican tosser Raheem Sterling dived against Denmark in the last UEFA Championship to knock them out and get us to the final?
      So much for being deserving. And with the cheat that is Weigmann... England finally found their destiny.

    • @Stand663
      @Stand663 2 года назад

      @@donmontague4107 You know you’re correct. Under Mark Sampson the England team became winners instead of the usual plucky losers. He made a few personnel changes, brought in a professional attitude in training, made the team work harder tactically, and gave them a winning mentality. It was good to see them win at last.

      Exactly the same for me, I'm also a 31 year old and even months later I still cry every time I see this, from the moment "its coming home" starts to play around the stadium loud and proud its like seeing your dream finally come true over and over again, to beat Germany at home in a final is actually a lot more precious than any dream coming true. @@OnlyOneUnitedChannel yeah it was a very intense game I was really nervous too. In all honesty I actually thought on the day Germany bossed long spells of the match or at least that's the way it felt, I thought our girls were on top first half and were creating numerous chances but then the German's grew into the game 2nd half and when Toone put us ahead it was somewhat against the run of play and nobody could deny they deserved their equaliser.
      As it went into Extra Time you could tell both teams were starting to tire so it was always going to be whoever made the first mistake that proved decisive rather then an actual moment of genuine quality, all in all throughout the tournament though the Lionesses thoroughly deserved it and it was in some ways poetic justice for World Cup 1990 and Euro 96 when we mostly outplayed the German's and it was they who rode their luck.

    We deserved to win this Euro 2022 final and tge whole tournament showing real determination, grit , fight and never giving in when playing against spain coming from 0-1 down to win 2-1, destroy sweden and then to beat germany from 1-1 to 2-1.
    We didn't stop after germany equalised we kept showing fight , determination, spirit and no signs of giving in, kept at it and it all payed off in the end rightful and deserving Women's Euro 2022 Champions .
    Very proud of our manager and definitely of all our lionesses, they have done England extremely proud.

      Not proud of the manager, her Holland team cheated us out of the last tournament. That's why we didn't win last time. Proud for the country though!
      Mark Sampson was the legend manager who got England's women to a competitive standard. In fact, we were much better under him and if Bright etc hadn't scored pivotal own goals every single tournament in the knock out rounds, we would have won at least one major tournament.
      Bright didn't score an own-goal in the knockouts, and that is why we won this time. Since Sampson was appointed we were always good enough.

Credit to all the manager and all the lionesses, they all rightfully deserved the victory and to be called champions , they all know how to play the game of football in my opinion.
      (I dont use the words wantI and need because it means lack , which means you don't already have it)

And a packed to the rafters Wembley all join in to sing " It's coming home". And all you want to do is get off the pitch and cry. Feel sorry for the Germans yet? No, neither do i :)

    • @milesfurnell
      @milesfurnell 2 года назад

      Fortunatamente no. Oggi il calcio femminile inglese e' anni luce davanti al calcio femminile Italiano. Una ragazza del mio paese ha dovuto smettere perche' ora ha 15 anni e non puo' giocare insieme ai ragazzi. La squadra femminile piu' vicino sta ad un ora e mezza di strada. Se le cose non cambiano l'Italia rimmarra' al terzo mondo dal punto di vista del calcio femminile.

      @@milesfurnell La mia generazione - Anni Cinquanta - è cresciuta rincorrendo la Palla su prati, oratori religiosi, cortili condominiali e marciapiedi. Ovunque, si giocava al calcio. Ci si esercitava a colpire di testa, lanciando la Palla contro un alto muro di cinta.
      Oggi, tutto ciò non esiste, o è soggetto a divieti.....
      Le ragazzine devono trovare spazi nuovi: anche a costo di sgombrare dai mobili la stanza più ampia di casa! e usare una palla di gommapiuma: perché, rimbalzando, non fa rumore! Sarebbe già un buon inizio....

    As i've never meet 1 single englishman football fan celebrating Women Football before this Euro final victory...... Did you celebrate this victory because of a women football team or just because they were english ? 😂 Don't worry, we know the answer. This final was the beginning and the end of Women football interest in this country. Congrats to the Lionesses, it's their victory, not yours.

    • @richard6440
      @richard6440 Год назад

      Both. I'm English so it's only natural to follow my country's team , male or female. I also like the way they play, just pure football , no cheating . the beginning and the end of Women football interest in this country ? You think ? 6 months later, the England women's games are still sold out. So thats your opinion wrong. Never mind :)
