I’m planning on this on my 6.4 also . Has a bad front cover oil leak. My question is... I heard some mechanics saying the oil cooler can also be replaced without taking several main components . It is true ? Or based on what you did you think it can be done. ? Thanks
Yes, it did. Just make sure you use the wear sleeve with the new crank seal when you put it back together. You will absolutely need the tool to put the new crank seal and wear sleeve on properly. to take the old seal off just use self tapping screws and screw one in on each side of the old seal. Use a vice grip to pull it off holding your inserted screws. Maybe a claw hammer as well if need be. Also make sure you apply silicone in the proper places on the block side of the new gasket. you will see where the old silicone is. scrape that shit off and put new on.
I believe my 2008 F350 6.4 Dually is leaking in that exact same spot as well. Bought the Bullet Proof Diesel water pump before I knew exactly where it is coming from. I haven't torn into yet but thinking about making a video as I go. I'll inspect for cavitation wear and fingers crossed that I won't need a new cover.
I thought it was the water pump....didnt know there was another place that the water could leak from in that area......great ...i took off my pump for nothing ...
Brandon Chambers about 3 hours is what it took me. I also busted both those heater lines putting it back on. So you may wanna take em off too. They're 60 bucks each.
YUKONBUCK yea I watched your video again and saw that you said that, my bad. How important would you say it is to buy that tool? Can’t a guy just use a big socket?
@@mattspry8576 i would say its very necessary because it has the bolt and nut to properly seat your seal and wear ring. And yes dont forget the wear ring like i did the first time. Oil will leak everywhere.
Yukonbuck Question I am looking at freedom racing and they show a crankshaft-front-seal-installer-303-1259-ztse4691.html And a www.freedomracing.com/crankshaft-front-seal-wear-ring-installer-303-1259-ztse4691-alt.html Are both of these tools needed or is there a difference ? Thanks your video has been helpful
@@Tony-cy6jx the tool on that website should be all you need. It screws into the crank and you use a ratchet and socket to press the wear ring and seal in together.
Great video! You kept me laughing while feeding us the scoop on completing the task.
I'd remove the rad and all the coolers also. Lot easier man. Enjoyed the video
Finally, a you tuber that speaks my language. Gonna do my front fucking cover in the spring, not looking forward to it ! Lol
They are saying my oil pump is leaking,do I have to take all this off to fix it?

How did you get the crank pulley off? Is it reverse thread too?
Very good information thank you
WHERE DO YOU NEED
TO PUT SILICONE?
My truck has a leak at the exact same location. Did the new gasket solve the leak?

I've heard the are alignment tools to align the cover back to the engine. Is that true?
I'm in the middle of the job and this is something I read.
@@joshgraves6630 yes there are stick like things to put in the screw holes but I never researched it.
So you didn't use them I guess

How long did it take to take the cover off. I need to do it also.
