Had I continued on with Saltmarsh, I had one player write so many hags in their backstory. So I did a LOT of research into them, and they are pretty cool. I got to create a sea hag coven, pick out spells, figure out a lair action, and I knew that there was fairly close to zero chance that they go there but it was a great thought experiment!
Hags are ideal villains. We have numerous hags in our Monsters series. Forest hag, nag hag, hag queen, gray hag, and a few witches including the Frog Witch and Baba Yaga.
In one of our games I offered a Hag deal to one of the characters. The character was arrested for killing a noble, the hag offered the character a way to disguise herself in exchange for her Birthright (Dragonborn breath weapon) and for her to become the hags “hitman”!
@@JNJTabletop there were! She performed one hit for the hag and we sadly haven’t played that game since. But if she didn’t carry out the hag’s wishes, her disguise self ability would cease to work followed by some disadvantage stuff 😄😈
@@JNJTabletop we figured it out part way through. We got our hands on a scroll made of flesh that had all their names on it. As we took them out, the names burned away!

We love hags so much and have used them again and again!
Dave once had us go against a league of hags. I think we took down 7-8 different inter-connected covens! It was great!
