A couple summers ago, a German couple was touring through Alaska in a silver '55 Gullwing and broke down 15 miles outside of my little town. My buddy down the street towed them back to his house and replaced the fuel pump, of which he had brought a spare for the trip. Didn't charge a dime, but they were sick with c0vid, and he caught it from them, oh well. That Christmas, my friend received a nice card from the couple. I'm pretty sure I will never see one of those again around here in my lifetime!
That is a wild story! Thanks for fixing my car... here is Covid and a Card. Crazy! Yeah... it was a trip to be hanging out with this one!
do you know if they wanna sell it.
That plastic bubble seems like a bad idea. They need a proper cover. What a car. One of one. Beautiful automobile. You sure know how to pick some great cars
It looks safe in the bubble.... but when you deflate it that plastic falls on top. However it did roll off easily.
@@CarsShopsAndCollections that car sold at auction from somewhere between 1.8 and 2.4million. Its a bubble type car I guess. Lol
That is a thing of beauty, you don't see those anymore 😮
Incredible!! So cool to get up close and personal!!!!
one of the most beautiful cars ever hands down.
Thanks JC! wicked cool!
Truly is... I want to go back to do more with it!
Beautiful is an understatement. Good friend was the original owner of a 1956 he bought and drove in Germany while in the service. Was a red car with knock off wheels. He drove it sparingly once he got it back to the states. One high dollar repaint in the early 70's and trailered it all over to exclusive shows, always won.
Roger fell on hard times in the early 80's and sold it in late 1982 for $50k. He knew the values skyrocketed several years after he sold it and was his biggest financial regret until he passed in 2001.
Thank you for sharing this story! He is not alone… so many people have been in that situation and have sold their classics.
My Sunday morning lineup.
Just unbelievable, must be arguably the most best looking car car ever produced. JC i applaud u matey 👏 👏
Im pretty sure the one at Crawford Auto Museum is this color
You are correct. I just went to their website.
But was it originally this colour from the factory?
Another great video, J. C.! And what a beautiful car. Stunning color combination. And I’d bet it would be a hoot to drive. But given its rarity and market value, I imagine jaunts on the road will be few and far between.
That would be a blast to drive! The further they have driven it was off the trailer to its current parking spot!
@@CarsShopsAndCollections That's a real shame, really.

I just dont get that at all, cars like these are built to drive, not sit in a garage.
Gorgeous condition inside and out. 👍👍
Flawless victory I’m jealous hm is that worth
Nice video
Thanks for watching!
The Corvette in 1955 was the debut of the 265 cu in. V8 195 HP.
The first Gullwing I saw up close was at an exotic car showroom in Monterrey, CA in 1976. It was red with the plaid interior. The price : $25,000! In the early 1980's the price rose to around $65,000. And then everything went crazy. I believe that a rare alloy-bodied example sold for over $4,000,000 recently. By the way, my first car purchase in 1975 was a 1967 Mercedes 300 SE coupe in dark blue with full saddle leather interior. I paid just $4,150 for a very nice car with four-speed stick shift. Now, these cars are just too valuable to drive around town. And that is a pity.
This is one of my top 20 best looking 🛺s ever made. I rate it at number five.
What would you put at #1?
@CarsShopsAndCollections As an owner of a 911, I'm even sad to say it didn't make the list. I always say just because a car has a name or expensive doesn't make it beautiful...
Bugatti 57 SC
64 Ferrari GTO
67 Ford GT40
Gullwing
Lamborghini Miura
Dino Ferrari
Bugatti Aero
1965 Bizzarini A3/C
Ferrari 330 p4
1967 Toyota 2000 GT
Jaguar e type 64
1974 Lamborghini LP400
1969 Corvette BB
1967 Buick Riviera
1969 Mustang 429
Morgan Aero Sport
68 De Tomaso Mangusta
My 3 cents
@CarsShopsAndCollections I didn't even know you had a 69 BB Corvette on one of your episodes. Cool beans. I'll subscribe. Be nice if you could get other cars on my top twenty, but if not, your show is pretty awesome anyways.
I want to model this car!! I have a kit from Tamiya. I’d like to know some of the particular colors regarding the interior (carpet, what’s leather, fabric etc.) as well as the exterior color name or code
Reach out to Nevada Classics in Las Vegas… they are the owners. If we don’t answer it in the episode I’m sure they will answer it for you!
What will happen to that car? Will it just be kept in that shop?
I have always been curious what the little hole is for on the sides underneath the front corner of the doors. Does anyone know?
Maybe the jack goes in there? It probably has a horizontal cylindrical rod style lift jutting out 90 degrees from the body of the jack.
@@madmel8t6 That is along the lines of what I was thinking as well.
Middle Grun - pronounced groon
I think they paid just under 2 million dollars for that car!
Sold for $1,815,000 without buyer premium.
No one would put plastic on that car, and taking off you watch an rings ....give me a break.
