You know, logical consequences. Being brainwashed into believing he was his dead sister by a crazy ol' nutcase + Being bullied, harassed and nearly raped by a creep = Becomes a murderer
I just want to say this: the horror of the twist isn’t the fact that “Angela” doesn’t have the set of genitalia that everyone thought “she” had. It’s because a little boy, who just lost his twin sister, was practically brainwashed into believing that he was not only a girl, but the same sister he lost. I mean, at first, the gender reveal is shocking, but the real horror is more of a “hindsight” thing.
Yep. His crazy aunt who wanted the real Angela who died in the boating accident decided that the best way to make up for that was to turn Peter into Angela physically and mentally. No wonder he went mad. Not only did his father and sister die and he suffered head injuries from the boat but he was also raised by a nutcase who instead of adopting a little girl if she wanted one decided the best way to go was to force a traumatised boy to pretend to be his own dead sister which probably constantly reminded him of her and made him feel even worse. His gender confusion because of Martha's abuse, being bullied at the camp didn't help matters. But it was probably nearly being raped by the paedo chef that made Peter snap and go on his killing spree.
I’m glad you agree with me. And you’re probably right; being almost raped is horrendous enough. Being almost raped whilst undergoing forced gender confusion-during puberty-is enough to make anyone snap. That said, I don’t know if I should correct your referring to him/her as “Peter”, since at this point, “Peter” no longer exists. Don’t worry, I’m no SJW; I won’t say that it’s “politically incorrect” or sexist to call him/her a male. She’s just more recognizable as “Angela” in my opinion, since he/she’s been a “boy” during the first and last few minutes of the film. Still, thank you for the feedback.
Yeah. He's more Angela than Peter in the end. I'm surprised they never had Angela kill Martha in any of the Sleepaway Camp sequels since she caused everything. She's mentioned in a newspaper clipping in the shitty Return to Sleepaway Camp film where it talked about what Martha did and how she just angrily glared at the cops rather than answering their questions.
I'm pretty disapointed that this movie just drop out the map after time. It was great, scary, creepy, and oh my god, Angela, you're one of my favorite character in cinema history ever!
I'm not sure if you heard, but Frankie Vinci found the old masters for Take a Chance and Tonight Your Mine since they were lost since the 80s. A few people have them uploaded in amazing quality if you ever wanted to hear what we missed out on.
The secret to surviving horror films: go nowhere. Just stay in your house/apartment. Oh, wait, there’s the whole “home invasion” thing. Okay, the real secret to surviving a horror movie: become a paranoid wreck. ... That’s...not a very healthy way to “survive,” now that I think of it.
Well you always went hoping you'd wind up in a Meatballs or Ernest Goes To Camp type situation, at worst a Meatballs II type thing with a friendly alien. Incidents such as Crystal Lake and Arawak were few and far between but the media latches onto them. Corey Feldman winning a water skiing competition against the camp across the lake just isn't newsworthy these days.
I was in fifth grade when I saw this on cable TV. Seeing it and hearing the soundtrack in that time period was so much more riveting because it was a time when we never wanted it to be better, it was better and was never going to be the same.
Damn what year was it and how was it like before it started because a lot of people are trying to find old vhs recordings from like hbo and old archives
the ending of this movie disturbed me so badly..but it's almost like that's a good thing. I was only ten when I saw it and now I'm 23 and love it 😊😊 this song is perfect for the ending, it was also playing in the wreck hall when Angela and Paul are talking
I just saw this movie today for the first time, and holy shit never has a movie ending made me more uncomfortable. The noise Angela/Peter made and the way they looked was just- eugh
The funny part is that "Angela" being a boy seemed to be more disturbing to Ronnie than the fact that she'd just dropped Paul's decapitated head on the ground.
Angela is my favorite movie killer OF ALL TIME and i never thought that killer would come from an older movie but i cant beleive how much i love her!!!!
This movie so traumatized me when I was a kid. I watched this a week before I was heading to summer camp. But now I love this movie one of my top 5 Horror Movies.
It feels like this song is Paul (the boy that liked her) saying that he loved her and that he knew her secret. “The truth we’ll hold inside” “I know it’s all a big charade”
That's what it sounded like to me, too! That would also explain why his decapitated head had a big smile; the truth is out and he still loves her. But why did Angela kill him anyway? I always thought it was because she was too far gone at that point to care.
The greatest ending of any slasher movie I've ever seen & it gave me nightmares as a kid. Even though it's music to a classic horror movie, it gives me those emotional feelings of a time long gone. I miss the 80's & the fantastic horror movies they gave us, we had it good.
Paul didn't know Angela was a boy until shortly before he got killed so IMO the "masquerade" lyric is Paul talking about the shy girl routine Angela puts being an act she puts on and a psychological mask that she hides behind and that she's really an insane killer. The song basically fills in the gaps of what happened offscreen between Paul and Angela after she told him to take his clothes off. She probably confessed to being the killer then revealed that she was actually Peter a boy and Paul understandably shocked and surprised tried to let "Angela" down gently by explaining that he wasn't gay and that he was only into girls and had thought Peter was one. IMO Peter's straight too. He'd just been forced to pretend to be a girl by Martha for so long he thought he should fancy boys while posing as a girl. Martha's abuse probably caused both a gender and sexuality confusion in Peter and I have a theory that Peter eventually went so crazy his Angela persona became a split personality in his head. And so the female Angela personality couldn't understand why Paul was rejecting her and was also pissed at him for kissing Judy in front of her so she snapped and chopped his head off. In the Sleepaway Camp sequels Martha's abuse affects Peter so much he ends up believing he's a girl born in a boy's body and therefore transgender so in both sequel continuities he gets a sex change and fully becomes Angela.
Excellent theme song! First saw this film on RUclips. I LOVED it!! Yes it felt a bit choppy, but it was an original and well-paced horror classic. It's the film's sequels i did not like...but Angela sure performed her role well in THIS film.

I remember back when I was working at a local haunt back in 2014 or so, Felissa Rose was attending a horror con less than half an hour from where I was, and I was so pissed I couldn't get off work to go get an autograph. Biggest regret, ever.

So I thought I would check them out and bought the boxset at a nearby Borders back in 2003. Deron Miller ended up Marrying this actress.
I first watched this movie when I was in High School and scared the living s**t out of me it stayed with me for a while but now it's not scary at all. There is no way they could do an ending like Sleepaway Camp in 2021 movies no way at all 80's horror movies were and still the best.
This movie became an masterpiece just by looking at it for the first time that gave it enormous fans Kathleen kimmet was a friend of Samantha marler AKA Suzie Cote that I've always thought would suit this role of Anglia perfect.
Without a doubt one if not the most iconic song to any 80's slasher movie considering that it appeared in Sleepaway Camp! Add to the fact that the song played during the end credits makes this song even more iconic and unforgettable!
sounds a little like the goosebumps theme song at the beginning. speaking of, does anyone know where I can find that theme? I found the tv show version, but I can't find the audiobook version by itself, and i kind of prefer the audiobook version.
Damn, like how some of the kids at that camp thought they would see their parents again. All of their unfulfilled hopes and wishes, never to be granted in a young death.
It's called a "soundtrack dissonance": a technique used in horror movies consisting of playing soothing, corny music over something scary or horrifying to create a darkly ironic contrast and unease the viewer all the more by hiding the horror of the whole thing behind a serenity that is only make-believe. (like playing Jack-in-a-box tunes or baby lullabies over carnages\murders or to set up a jumpscare) Like here in "Sleepaway Camp", with the same love song that played in the scene that paved the way for the beginning of Paul and Angela's relationship now playing right after Angela's horrifying reveal.
I sent this to an x-gf (who doesn't watch horror movies) and thought it would be a nice romantic song from me to her. She said it sounded corny and stopped listening to it after 20 seconds.
In a sense this song solidifies Paul as the protagonist of the film. The film displays a compelling character arc for him in a subtle way that takes a few watches to start to recognize. Part of the tragedy of the film that is perfectly represented in this song is that this girl who Paul sees as perfect is unfortunately psychotic due to the horrendous way she has been raised. Furthermore, in a dark and ironic note, this perfect girl in Paul's eyes is also a boy. Does this story element commentate on homosexual relationships? Perhaps, and if so, interpret how so at your own discretion.
SPOILER ALERT: IF YOU DIDN'T WATCHED THE MOVIE YET, DON'T READ! Angela entered to the history as the first transgender villain of a scary movie. She really deserves more love. ♡
My favorite slasher film of all time. Actually, my favorite FILM of all time. It's a masterpiece, even when it's being cheesy. The best atmosphere I've ever seen in a movie. Truly tugs at your memories of summer camp. Disturbing! To this day I have introduced over 25 friends to Sleepaway Camp. And growing!
Funny thing is i am named after Angela Baker from the movie! My mom watched the movie right before i was born and couldn't think of a name so she named me after sleepaway Camp
Why is it that in many Italian made horror films there's always a sad love theme played. And in some horrors a spooky sound track sung by a church quiour.
I finally studied this. Its Pual (the blonde kid) saying that Angela is the killer, but he doean't care and watns to be with her, but has no idea hes actually a he.
I like films from the 80s, you know And like who is watching it in 2024?? Angela Baker I send the most historical killers who has ever played in a horror film 📽️🎥, My God, because this film has different types of torture because as we see, there are different types of torture for her and the murderer, but it's so difficult to find out who the killer Angela, You are one of my most favorite characters I have ever seen

Melanie Elizabeth has a girl face with man body that's was spooky was heel
I first watched this movie when I was in High School and scared the living s**t out of me it stayed with me for a while but now it's not scary at all. There is no way they could do an ending like Sleepaway Camp in 2021 movies no way at all 80's horror movies were and still the best.
Just watched the movie for the first time today... Absolutely loved it!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
classic shocker with that unforgettable chilling ending
This movie became an masterpiece just by looking at it for the first time that gave it enormous fans Kathleen kimmet was a friend of Samantha marler AKA Suzie Cote that I've always thought would suit this role of Anglia perfect.
The 1980s was such a great time for horror movies.
Edit: Even though I wasn't alive back then, I wish I was. :,(
I forgot how much I freaking love this movie xD
Without a doubt one if not the most iconic song to any 80's slasher movie considering that it appeared in Sleepaway Camp! Add to the fact that the song played during the end credits makes this song even more iconic and unforgettable!
In the end credits, after a chilling reveal with a hindsight horror.
@@diegodubber2140 Yep.
sounds a little like the goosebumps theme song at the beginning. speaking of, does anyone know where I can find that theme? I found the tv show version, but I can't find the audiobook version by itself, and i kind of prefer the audiobook version.
+Kevin Yannutz Just remember who you work for please?
I love the fact that the writer of this song probably had no idea what Sleepaway Camp was about...especially the ending.
It could be from Paul's perspective.
That to me makes the song much more depressing
Awesome the movie and the soundtrack ♥️♥️♥️♥️
A creepy , haunting bit cool song for a creepy , haunting , cool movie/film.
The Lonely Londoner yup
have the boxset!!! loveeeee these films!!! angela's theme is great!
Great Horror Movie, great 80 Sound from the best time thanks for uploading from Germany.
This Movie had balls no pun intended
So did Angela.
I sent this to an x-gf (who doesn't watch horror movies) and thought it would be a nice romantic song from me to her. She said it sounded corny and stopped listening to it after 20 seconds.
I mean it is kinda corny, but that's the appeal of it.
This is the best song ever
This song got me feeling nostalgic.
I always saw them as a parallel to Crazy Camp Owner and Meg.
SPOILER ALERT: IF YOU DIDN'T WATCHED THE MOVIE YET, DON'T READ!
Angela entered to the history as the first transgender villain of a scary movie. She really deserves more love. ♡
his dad DEAD in the same accident "angela" got fucked in the head literally and his mom is a liberal nut case... OF COURSE HE'S TRANS!!!
oh, SPOILERS!
Angela isn’t even Trans tho
You do know he was forced to be a girl right?
Don't be that guy
Pathetic, lol
My favorite slasher film of all time. Actually, my favorite FILM of all time. It's a masterpiece, even when it's being cheesy. The best atmosphere I've ever seen in a movie. Truly tugs at your memories of summer camp. Disturbing! To this day I have introduced over 25 friends to Sleepaway Camp. And growing!
Judy wild as hell
This Was a Crazy Movie!!!!! Angela Baker was actually a Peter Baker!!!!😲😲

Funny thing is i am named after Angela Baker from the movie! My mom watched the movie right before i was born and couldn't think of a name so she named me after sleepaway Camp
Thats hella cool
please don't kill us!
best ending of all time
Why is it that in many Italian made horror films there's always a sad love theme played. And in some horrors a spooky sound track sung by a church quiour.
No choir sang Angela's theme it was Frankie Vinci and his band
Stage Fright 1987, aka Deliria, aka The Bloody Bird, aka The Sound Stage Massacre, aka Aquarius, has a good sound track.
This is the only old song I listen to, but I love it. I’m 13.
I’m 14 dude I wish I lived through the 80s to watch this masterpiece and all the old commercials and Felisa Rose is hella cute
I'm 16 and I wish too I was in the 80s because all horror movies from the 70s to the 90s are true classics and knew the definition of *HORROR*
David Films nicee
David Films tbh tho this is a good movie

Angela Baker I send the most historical killers who has ever played in a horror film 📽️🎥, My God, because this film has different types of torture

Angela I love you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats on 500!
It’s such a catchy, danceable theme that it seems out of place considering the tone of the film, but it’s great.
This movie is just , 😲😲
