Jim Beam Red Stag (black cherry), used to be gifted to me quite often... I enjoyed it, but I don't think most of those flavorings qualified it to really be bourbon...

If you're a bourbon drinker then typically you likely will not like this it's Canadian whiskey. They are not the same thing.. especially with Bourbon drinkers tryong to take their training wheels off woth barrel proof because they dont have thr palet for rye whiskey.
Fair statement for sure. I am working on opening up my palate to more whiskeys which include rye and even Irish whiskeys. Have you tried this Crown Royal? what did you think? cheers

Don’t know much about flavored whisky/ey’s, do they age whisky that is already flavored, or is it whisky aged for 23 years with the flavoring added in when it’s bottled?
sorry it took a bit to respond. So I can't tell you for sure, I don't see anything to confirm. But I believe it is aged then the flavor is added. But I wonder why add flaver to a 23 year aged? thanks for the great question. cheers
I don't get why the marketing team really thought that they'd take TWENTY THREE year old whiskey and flavour it... unless something went wrong with the aging and it was unusable for anything else, doesn't surprise me that it scored so low!
That is certainly a thought. Because something that is 23 years should have more flavor, not just the apple flavor added. cheers

I know someone who would love this, but probably not appreciate it... He loves those flavored Crown Royals and we had a maple one that I used to mix into maple syrup... He has gotten me so many bottles of Jack Daniels and Crown, that I still have them to this day... Also know of another guy here who sewed a robe out of Crown bags and wears it out in public quite a bit...
This would be his crowning moment with the gold and bright green bag.
DOC!!! Spot on review!!! My battle buddy gave me a 1.75 bottle of Crown Royal Apple. All I could do with it was to add Cranberry and lime juice to it, it drink it SWIFTLY!! CHEERS my brother!!!
That younger one is not the same as this.
It baffles me that they sell this stuff for 250 but back when monarch came out they were selling it for 75 a bottle. It baffles me even more that a bottle of monarch is still only like 450 online. It is hands down the best whiskey that crown has ever made.

@OldFashionedWays monarch was their 75th anniversary whiskey, bottles are numbered, and it's pretty incredible

I don't mind flavored whiskeys, but I think of them as something that you pay 20-30 bucks for and use almost more like a liqueur.
