The non-speedrun achievements are really fun. I just "mastered" the game a few days ago. Challenges like using a shell to kill every enemy that can be killed by one breathes some new life into the game.

I found out about the RetroAchievements on an earlier video on this site, now I’m hooked on it, and on NES games again. Dang it, Kosmic!

If the concept of RetroAchievements looks interesting, but you're unsure if you'd be good at NES games... don't worry. We have (to my knowledge) every 6th gen or earlier console ever created barring Gamecube and Xbox. I say "to my knowledge" because there's several I hadn't known even existed before they got support!
Granted, not every game for every system has support, each has to be specifically crafted by a real person... but console support always seems to be the biggest block for many of its games to get sets, especially for more well-known ones like PS2 (they already have most of my personal library supported, and that's not a small amount!)

I found out about RA through Duckstation about 2 years ago. I didn't start really going for achievements until September 2022. I mastered Mario Bros. Arcade and Super Mario Bros. and I am now after the Lost Levels set. I've never speedran any game, so the Sub 5-minute, and Sub 20-minute warpless sets scare me off.

sub20 is not too hard, you just need to beat the game without dying, in that stream, the attempt that kosmic beat the challenge, he done it while losing his fire flower 3 times, thats a sign its not too difficult!

I wonder why sometimes the FPS drops a bit in this video. But only the gameplay, the face cam was alright. Maybe because Mario is in 60.01 fps converted to youtube to be 60 fps and that's happen?

Particularly for flower Mario, I was wondering before when time runs out, the Mario is Fire flower but dies as small fire flower Mario, so I've been wondering about that. This is probably the funniest glitch in the game. 🍀🍀

Now what would neat to see if they added Super Mario 2 J so after you finished Super Mario Brothers you transition to Super Mario 2 J then after you finish those two you go to Super Mario 2 USA so you can play all version to keep getting achievements then after those games transition to Super Mario 3 to finish achievements for the NES/Famicom Mario games.
