I've seen Shatner in his new series on Netflix. He is looking his age. For an old man in this video he is pretty fat. His stomach looks very tight. That tight gut makes me uncomfortable. It makes me feel like his gut is going to bust open. Hernia's are a real problem for older men and that weight could be a killer. I think Bill Shatner's secret to long life is that he enjoys living. It demonstrates that sometimes a creature-concept exceeds its execution (and that we really do love lizard people). Nver saw this ad. Thanks for posting it.
I love the idea of a game about fighting the Gorn because in the original episode, the Gorn were depicted as only defending their territory from what they saw as an attempt to take over their space. The point of the episode was that the Gorn weren't big lizard monsters and what do we do? Make a game where they were big lizard monsters.
Then there is Strange New Worlds. I start out loving it, start to get disillusioned, go back to liking it, then they reprise the Gorns at the end of Season 1. It was either a blatant rip-off of 'Aliens', or an homage to 'Aliens'. (Kinda felt like a rip-off, but I am on the favorable side of riding that fence with ST:SNW) any way I thought that was going to be 'left behind' but they reintroduced them in the 2nd season cliffhanger. I have to say ot is impressive that Star Trek showrunners and game developers have taken the hokiest 60's costumed alien species and transformed it into a terrifying threat for the Federation. It demonstrates that sometimes a creature-concept exceeds its execution (and that we really do love lizard people).
Nver saw this ad. Thanks for posting it.
Graphics look AMAZING!! Takes me back to the early 2000's with the first X-box!!
(Now they have the Gorn as Dangerous space venturing Aliens- IDK if I buy it?)
Anyway- I thought this ad was current (with Paramount trying to push the Gorn in SNW), I did not remember this game 10 Years ago.
Then they make a show with the Gorn as savage monsters that eat people
@@greenman8 An homage is a rip off.
@@captainjefferies9047 I hate to admit it, but I think you are right.
Overall, I give SNW a 'C-' it passes, a few notable episodes, some very cringe. (Thinking of their 'Cop Rock' attempt S2E9, sheesh!)
@@greenman8still best thing that happened to Star Trek since TNG
Fun fact the original Gorn was Ted Cassidy who also played Lurch in the Addams family.
Bobby Clark played the Gorn Ted Cassidy who was to tall to have played the Gorn was 6'9" but did the Gorns voice and sound effects.
Shatner might be 82 now, but he's still a damn funny comedian!!!
I loved the spoof/homage to "Arena" from Star Trek-TOS.
OMG!!! I actually remember watching the first episode with Shatner! The pilot had Cpt Pike but actual 1st episode of the series was the Gorn one ! Sooo cool!!!
This is absolute gold.
It’s just sad to not be able to have the other original cast members in this as well. Live long and prosper William!
Ok, now I want a re-reboot with Shatner. I don't care how old he is. DO IT!
Only two words can describe this: hilarious and awesome.
OMG, How did it take me 11yrs for the algorithm to show me this! This is Gold! 😆
Wow. I'm a huge Star Trek fan. This is great. The commercial is awesome and it was funny
They only missed one thing : the dreaded and deadly Captain Kirk Double-Foot Drop Kick. Should have done that.
Even if they couldn't FX the support cables out ( which William Shatner would have needed then ) it would have been unforgettable.
Maybe even better _with_ the support cables visible.
They could have had Shatner thrown onto the couch. The original had an obvious cut so you could assume that a stunt man got thrown across the dirt, then they cut again as Kirk gets up.
