Loved this video! My mother rented at Venture Out for a month each year for a few years. It is a great place and enjoyed visiting her each year. Hey guys great video, the house we bought in Marathon is next door to a house you guys featured on one of the first RE videos you did on 75th Street. Enjoyed your video. My sister and her husband live there and we have been to Venture Out and love it. We’re from Nebraska so we spend a lot of time at the pool when there. Try the Square Grouper Restaurant close to there for some great food-our favorite place.

Been traveling there twice a year and am finally making the move to Isla next year to work at Robbies!!! Leaving my 9 to 5 sales job to get my captains license and come live the keys lifestyle and do eco tours. Tourists always confuse me as living there and ask me for directions or where the bathroom is, so I know I already fit in with the keys aesthetic 😂

Hey Guys just found your channel. I grew up down in Tavernier and go down about 3-4 times a year. You guys are doing a great job and living a dream. I got a few more years before I retire but my goal is to be back down there full time. Paradise. People who comment negative things about the prices and location just are not keys people.

In the Florida keys to key West, if you have a RV , A person could live in the state parks can live in for between 16 to 18 dollars a day/night if a person is a vet and or legally disabled. Unfortunatly my childhood home which family still owns and has owned since the 1970s has been severely damaged during Hurricane Irma 26 miles away from key West in little torch key unfortunatly. Our home is on a lagoon right on the open bay. But a lot of people moved out since Irma hit and I believe this is the reason these are affordable. I plan on getting down to key West soon enough as I still have childhood friends there.
Wife and I love the videos. We live in Texas, but will be in Key West (for the first time) Friday for a few days, with a overnight stop in Marathon on our drive down Thursday from Miami. If we like Key West, we may come back for Fantasy Fest (we have friends that keep inviting us). Best place for evening cocktails in Marathon?

Man all those people from Northeast moving to Florida have driven up prices that make us stay in the Midwest now. Maybe we will find a lake in Georgia or Alabama and just visit still.

When I was in the army in NC, we used to really enjoy going to the Outer Banks. Though it was tempting to buy a beach house, we always said that we would prefer a lot to just bring an RV down there, and then move it away when we weren't.
Do these RV lots come with a proven rental history? Is it the front office that property manages/rents them out for you?
Some of the lots will have rental history...this will mainly come from the owner as all of the lots can be privately advertised and rented. There is a real estate company on the property that will handle the rentals if you hire them to do so.

I worked concrete construction in Ft Myers, we would start before the sun came up and worked off the lights on the back of the concrete truck. The noseeums were horrible but you couldn't use spray because when the sun came up you would fry from the chemicals - just had to take it. This was 1982 building Siesta Bay Resort near Sanibel.

WiFi is pretty good....almost all of the time. We are with comcast down here and getting over 100Mbps down consistently...but we do experience frequent drops. I'm not really sure if that is comcast or just my wireless router and this old solid concrete house we are in. I'm sure some more people will pitch in comments on this, but I find it good enough for me. Laurie taught from home for awhile and was in virtual meetings all day and had little issue.
I was wondering the same thing. I've been considering a move down there from Richmond, VA (although on a MUCH lower budget than $400k+ houses lol) and reliable internet is a definite must for work

Nope, not Marathon. Cudjoe Key, 19 miles from Key West....awesome place though!!

Those rv lots look great but I was wondering about boats. I think having my own boat would be awesome but I don’t know anything about boats and marine life. Is there a place that teaches newbies about boating?
Hmmm...I don't really know of a specific place to learn about boating, but I bet there are plenty of videos online. Down here, you just make some friends and pay for some gas and you'll have things under control in no time. Just got to spend some time learning. Folks down here are so helpful in general, it wouldn't take long.

Is there a length limit on RV’s in the park outlined in this video? The lot price of 289,900 is cheap. I have a 45’ quad slide bus. Some places have a 40’ limit.
There is no minimum length, however the site must be able to accommodate the rig and allow a 10' buffer from the water and one foot buffer from the power and septic hookups, so it will depend on the individual lot.
Down the island is Cudjoe Key - a wonderful place with all sorts of amenities.
Wow the beach has always been my life on the water but I came from the poor side so that limited me I'm already in my 50s with no where near that type of funds my house and property isn't even with 50 grands let alone trying to sell and move but if I had the funds I sure would go out of my way to contact you for a rv lot close a dock to have a small center console boat to fish but also love pier and beach fishing. great video keep up the good work I'll keep dreaming lol happy safe holidays from mississippi

I see a lot of older trailers (1980s)on decent lots for sale for the 300-400,000 price range. Is it hard to secure financing for these places or do most of the people moving to VO&KW pay cash?
Yes, most people pay cash for trailers, but we do have a local lender who will do some financing on some of them.

I've been on the road since May 12, 2020. Sold my home in Kentucky and went to all 48 states finished up in New Orleans and headed back to Florida where I've been travelling around for 2 weeks now. We started in Pensacola and took the Gulf down to Key West and the Atlantic up to Jacksonville and then just traversed from east to west for the last 2 weeks. I'm now in Fort Lauderdale hitting the road again. I would love to buy a cheap place or rent something in the Keys if you know of a good area to look. I need a house though or apartment for me and my wife and two home schooled teenagers. I'm living on a military pension plus social security with some cash. I'm heading south today from Fort Lauderdale. We went through there a couple weeks ago but it was too expensive. Rooms were $800 a night at cheapest.
The keys seems like a day trip at best for lower income because lodging is crazy. People from New York pulling up in their BMW's just paying whatever they ask. I guess I should have chosen Wall Street instead of the Navy lol.
Yep things can get very expensive here for sure. Plus this is our busiest time of the year so prices go up during this time. September and October is when you will find the great deals in the Keys.

I love going on these little adventures with the two of you even if I do not have the money to do anything more than follow you on here. You both look great and happy there and I do have a bit of envy.😪 Did you see on the news down there that the one condo building on the Navarre had a fire on their top floor. They were having repairs done after the last storm and the man working on the AC units up there and it seems that there were some sparks that the wind caught just after he left. Are you ready for this..................it is the building that I have a condo rented in for 2 weeks in the spring. I know it will be fine by then, but I have to laugh because this is my sort of luck. Covid hits and I had to cancel last year's vacation and I do not know what it will do to this year, but my friend said that everything would be fine by then. Have fun you two and have a glass of wine or two for me some evening when you are relaxing in the warmth. 🧡 💚
It's ironic you commented tonight Joyce. Laurie and I were thinking about you when we did this video. I was riding my bike along, and thought... Joyce would love it here! That last home was very nice, but it was also at the upper end of the pricing here. There is a whole lot for a whole lot less...you would love it here! I think everything will work out for you on your vacation...there are about 6000 people here on this channel pulling for you!!! .....it'll work out!
Does anyone build the house on stilts high enough to put a class A RV under so you can use the house and RV at the same time?
I don't think so John. There were none down there done that way at least. I know you can only have one vehicle at a site at any given time as well. It is a very neat place for sure!
What is the yearly property tax range on an RV lot? Using the 289k lot as a base example.
Property tax here in Monroe county you can accurately estimate at 1% of the purchase price. That will get you really close.

Are there any other places (aside from Blue Water) where you can rent anRV or travel trailer spot for an extended time? I've HAD more than a few people tell me some real doozy stories about being told to actually get inside their RV after 11 and that their guests had to leave.

How much does the RV lot on the water and off water rent for? Looking for investment ideas.
I think they run between $75 -$125 per night depending on the location.
Does this area have sewers or cesspool system. Being small lots not a lot of room for cesspools

Our main camera is a Sony AX53, and we have a few action cameras as well. 99% of our videos are on the Sony..with a Rode Video Micro microphone

We lived in Key Largo for 18 years. Quality Waterfront Homes cost about the same as quality waterfront homes cost in the Gables. Dry homes cost about 1.5 times their equal in better neighborhoods in Miami. 90% of the condos, townhomes and waterfront homes in the keys are vacation homes. Only 10% are lived in full time.

Mobile homes in Venture out are now selling for a million dollars.
But there are some less than that. Remember, if you buy in Venture Out you can build a home there because they have building rights with them.

Yes, most of our areas do not have HOA's, most neighborhoods do not have them.
So 300 k for parking spot, an expensive trailer, and quarterly fees of 800? Did I get the fees right? Meaning over 3 grand a year?

That is the most expensive RV lot I have ever heard of. Where do the Trailer Park Boys stay when they stay in the Keys?
There are a bunch of campgrounds and different options down here. Venture Out is one of the nicest properties of it's kind down here so naturally they are a bit more expensive. It's just one of the few places you can actually purchase the lot and be able to build on it...most others are just leasing the space.

Looked into this place a bit and it would seem, at least from my limited research, that it is very dog un-friendly. Are there other options like this in the Key's that are more dog friendly?
Actually Venture out is pretty dog friendly with lots of pet owners there. The Keys overall are one of the most pet friendly places we have been.

Budget is a matter of opinion I agree. There are lots and homes all over the Keys from dirt cheap to super expensive, you just have to choose where you fit in that picture and what your expectations are for you money. Thanks for watching!

They do allow you to rent out your place they have a rental management company or you can handle it yourself.

i dont how these owners down there can say keys disease anymore that was when rents were a few hundred a month. and workers lived in boats and pensioners snd retirees worked those jobs these days rents start at 1500

I stayed there(rented a home) in2019(Dec) . VERY clean and well keep up---My daughter was living there at the time also. I found it VERY unfriendly-if you were not part of the GROUP-Forget it-I will not get it the details but NOT for me--Watch out for Security( I have never had a ticket in my life)- just sayin---So I left---True STORY

it's call "Velocity" zone construction check out www.floridabuilding.org The keys are high wind zone requirements. Monroe County is notered in CFR 44
Code enforcement are nuts in the Keys. That's the dark side. The Keys are nice but you need to know both sides. Cut down a tree or some mangroves without a permit....go to jail. Don't even think about a shed without a building permit.....you will be tearing it down. I rented 1/3 of a house in Tavernier. The owner built a small bungalow without a permit behind it near the mangroves. The other tenant got mad at him and called code enforcement. He had to tear it down.
Permitting can be a process, but if you follow the rules you can get things done...just takes patience.

It's sort of cheap for down here, but I do realize it's a lot of money to some...it's just budget for the Keys!

I'm not sure about that situation. Every time we are in Venture Out people are outside walking their dogs on the streets.

Yuck!!! I can't imagine paying to build a house on a $290K lot only to be next to a trailer. While it appears that the "Keys" are a beautiful paradise this is definitely not.

We never really imagined that a place like that would be our cup of tea either, but I will admit as we get older it's growing on us! Probably not a full time deal, but would be an awesome place to have to spend the winter for sure!
I am kind of with Scott here. I just can't get past the sewage/plumbing implications of an RV. Yes, I would love to ride in one on a long trip, and get to sleep for free. I get the reason why a rock band might travel in one, but for long term living, I need a conventional bathroom where my waste just magically disappears into .. I have no idea, it just disappears. As for calling this video, a budget. Not sure it at $300,000 up front, you haven't broken the budget. Maybe a free internet forum is not the audience. Try robbreport.com.
