- Actor Sean Astin talks about growing up in Hollywood and shares stories from some of his favorite films, including “Goonies”, “Rudy”, and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
Astin is also an avid runner and is co-founder of the #Run3rd Alliance, which organizes free running training programs and races in elementary schools.

Just met him at a Fanexpo recently. Nicest guy I ever met at one of those things. He took the time to ask myself all kinds of questions as if he was just as interested in meeting me during his signing. Really impressed by his kind and friendly nature.
I love how great this interviewer is! They bounce off each other so well, and they both seem such nice, genuine people.

I met Sean in Indianapolis at a Horrorhound Convention several years ago. He was so friendly and sweet, talking like we had been friends for years. I told him how much I loved his Mom and how much he looked like her. He smiled and said "I consider that a compliment!" Just a sweetheart!
Sean Astin is just so normal...preoccupied with his family and his running and yes, he acts. No insipid talk about "his craft", his ability to act, and me, me me monologues. Yep, totally refreshing. Thank heaven, one normal Hollywood cinema star who does not think he is one.

Intriguing: in an interview with Stephen Colbert he said that he didn‘t know anything about LotR when his agent called him about the role. He then did read the books three times, as he told Colbert.
