    Aloha from the Hawaiian Islands~
    I appreciate your post and its simplicity, but would appreciate seeing someone with glasses wear it for a few minutes...fogging glasses is not only frustrating but can dangerous when walking and going down steps.
    Mahalo!

    • @sarahmarie2471
      @sarahmarie2471 4 года назад +2

      Susan Mei if you follow the exact measurements yes. I did the medium one and the ears are a little big. I don’t know this for a fact because I haven’t tried it yet but I feel like the reason it isn’t fogging is because it’s not tight to my face.

    • @susanmei9980
      @susanmei9980 4 года назад +2

      Sarah Marie, Ok. Thank you for answering. So you mean the ear elastics are too big? I found some soft elastics with an adjustable bead on them that I’m planning to buy. (Amazon and Etsy) I think having adjustable elastics would make all the difference. However, I’m a little unclear on your response: did your glasses fog up or not fog up? (With the elastics being too big). Thanks.

    This really is easy to make! I've been making masks using a pattern with pleats and have probably made at least 3 dozen so far, each one taking around 40 minutes. I suspect that once I've made a few using this pattern, it'll take no time at all and I can toss my old pattern out the window. Thank you Mia for coming up with something so simple and putting the video together. Great job!

    Hi, Mia!!
    Thank you very kindly for this pattern. I just tried it, but with an additional layer of non-woven interfacing sandwiched between the layers to conform with the recommendations of the federal health authority.
    The single pattern piece made the project fairly simple, and the well-thought-out lines make it easy to tweak when the fit wasn’t quite right... so, I appreciate the thought that you put into this...
    If I may contribute to you in return, I’d suggest that to get that flawless fit, in making the first mask from this pattern, sewing the seam that shapes the mask to the jawline after completing the portion that covers the nose and cheeks, and instead, sewing the layers of one side of that seam together, flat, on the “right side”, leaving the other side of the seam open so that after the amount of curvature needed can be determined by slipping the flat side into the open side, and then touching that seam closed. After that, the last bit of the topstitching of the outside diameter of the mask can be finished.
    Afterward, if any tweaks made are noted on the pattern, then masks made from your extremely beautiful pattern may be very efficiently made to a perfect fit in the order that you suggest. :)
    I enjoyed this project and your design - it’ll be exciting to check out your other ideas!! Stay safe! :)

    I have made at least 6 different styles of face masks, many claiming to be the "most comfortable" or "fog free". This is the only mask that truly doesn't fog my glasses and is comfortable enough to wear for hours at a time. I've made some for friends and they agree. I did make the bottom dart a little deeper and moved the bottom elastic up .25 inch. Those modifications made it fit better on my face. It is easy to make and the directions are clear.
    Thank you! Thank you!

      Great idea! And such small projects are even able to be done by hand if you haven't got a sewing machine yet. In early times they made even lagre quilts by hand.
      It is a matter of creativity and the will to learn this. And if you like it you can even embroid something on it. ♡
      Have a great time with learning how to sew. You will find out how great it is to make your own clothes fit perfectly or to sew some cool things you cannot find in stores or which are too expensive to buy.

      If it doesn’t prevent fogging, u may have to tweak the pattern to get a better fit; no matter how well-made and attractive a mask is, if you’re essentially breathing ‘around’ the mask at the points at which there are gaps between you and your mask, it’s just not protecting anyone as well as it should. The fit just isn’t quite right in such a case.
      So, notice where your gaps are and play with the curved seam at the top until you figure out the steepness of the curve that best contacts your upper face, or leave open one side of that bottom seam that should cause the mask to precisely match the contour of your jaw, until you can try the whole thing on and experiment with tucking one side into the other to achieve that “second skin” fit. Likewise, the placement of the elastic may need adjusting to prevent puckering or gapping along the sides of your mask. It’s well worth investing a little extra time for the protection and comfort of everyone. Then, if you mark your changes on the pattern, every mask you make with your pattern will be just about perfect for you. :D

    I LOVE IT! For me it's easier than the square 3d mask. I have been sticking to the N95 style with a washable filter fabric (spunbound, it's like the surgical mask but a bit thicker, thickness depends on the fabric weight) in between the outer and the lining fabric. But it oppose a problematic dillema for me because I have to stitch a line right down the middle connecting the right and left side of the mask, innitially poking holes on the filter which I don't like. With this design, the only dart is on the chin (which I suggest you add the dart value so it fitted more down there), and creating the nose flap I can just stitch diagonal lines to the fold instead of 1 continuous line from side to side (again so I don't poke holes in the middle of the mask). Whe it comes to size, you can measure your face from side to side and use it for the mask's diameter.
    This is so great! I'm going to try it right now 😁 Thank you for the tutorial.

    Thank you Mia, for lovely patterns for us to make our masks. I appreciate the work that goes into the designing and making the video as well... I am hoping to get to making some in the next couple of days. xx

    I love this mask but I change something. Instead of elastic I sew a folded rectangle in place of elastic to run parachute cord thru. As I wear hearing aids and glasses I have a lot going behind my ears. The cord goes over the head. I tighten it with a cord lock.
