- Lowpass at the Brocken, flying south of Berlin and dumping 170 liters of water ballast above the beautiful Erzgebirge. Another exciting flight with highs and lows!
This was my second flight of the 2400 km and 25 hours flight experience in Germany and Austria. Don´t miss the last one with epic flying in the Alps!

Just fabulous. Glad i can expect somewhat similar playing Microsoft Flight Simulator, but of course reality beats it all.
Reality beats it all 🤙🏼
A simulator does not compare at all to sitting in a real glider! Even if the simulator has the best graphics and flight dynamics, being subjected to constant changes in acceleration makes a huge difference. You can actually get exhausted from all that turning and bumping and still you have to be able to navigate and stay focused. Not to mention that you have to be really careful as your life depends on the glider and your actions :-)
@@gahazebrouck I fully agree! Flying in real life is so much better and especially the 3D acceleration is the fun part.
The first part looked stressful, always being kinda low.
I was also saved by a good thermal near the hercules over kassel once :D
Great flight and amazing video once again.
Just an amazing fantasy of flight and you landed at some very picturesque airports along the way. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work!
Great series, Stefan! And an amazing landscape. Thanks for sharing and very much looking forward to the "Alps" episode :)
Vielen Dank!
Your plane is really beautiful even if it's a glider! Thanks, I used to travel a lot with my motorbikes, without this wonderful feelings you had, but with good ones too.🤭🤗👍👍👍
Because it´s a glider 😂
Take me back, take me high, take me on a journey into the sky, for this is the place I want to fly, climbing here and turning there as one with the wind my mind does stare
To the clouds and places all anew and the goal that flows from me to you, no ending in sight or a path born true, flight is amazing so enjoy it’s hew.
Another epic video Stefan. The landscape around Meschede is beautiful! Very awesome. I am amazed at someone flying cross country in a glider, this is an eye opener. Keep up the great work. Cool music
I love your video's its almost like flying with you.
it calms me with the music and the views. Have a nice trip.
Great video. I have been flirting with the idea of gliding for some years - your videos bring me closer and closer to an actual date.
BTW, if I may recommend for future video productions, show shortly an overlay map is similar, so we know where you are. If you pass an interesting place, tell us about it, as us non-Germans may not always recognize them (for example mount Brocken or the Tropical Island). If you know some interesting story or facts, even better. A post production voice over will be cool. And for us that don't know the practical details, please include some of the preparation or practicalities related to flying this kinds of trips. As somebody asked, how do you find accommodation, what do the rooms look like, how do you arrange towing, do you have to prepay, where do you get 500 liters of water for the glider before each trip. We want to follow you on your adventure. And keep doing the great work!
Thanks for the very good tips! I will try to include them in my next travel by glider videos this year :)
YYYYEESSSSSSSSSS! Awesome!
Much love❤️
Great flight! Cross country gliding has a special magic to it.
Die Landschaft taugt mir total!! Super eingefangen
Cooles Video. Vielen Dank fürs Mitnehmen! Hat Freude gemacht dabei zu sein!
Freut mich!
The best!!!
Very nice!
Nice work! looked tricky at the start
Danke für deine tollen Videos!
Beautiful!
Is there a reason why you prefere bottles over a Camelback or similar?
I'm to lazy to clean the camelbak and somehow prefer bottles 😂
Thank you 🌿
17:55 klarer Fall von chemtrails 😜👍🏻
Good morning. This is really cool,😮😊
Toll erinnert mich an meine aktive Zeit als Flieger.
Nice, can't wait to see the Alps
Thursday!
What a beautiful flight!!! awesome!! :)
Magnificent, sir!
Very skillfully executed!
Just got this recommend , I'm interested on gliders and I'm still learning about them . And anyways thats a nice profile picture!
Thank you!
I love your videos. Grettings from argentina
nice man!
I wonder, how do you find this streams which let you climb, when you fly orbits. Es ist sehr wunderbar 😁
Searching for thermals is the essential part for gliding. You can see the clouds, know the wind direction and with a lot of experience it works most of the time. If not you have to land somewhere 😂
Tolles Video👍 mach weiter so!
So cool! Thank you for sharing. I would also apreciate if you could talk a little bit about your camera equipment in the plane? What camera are you using and where do you position your camera for the longer running footages? (Is it an action camera temporariliy attached to your body?)
I´m using a DJI Osmo Action (action cam) in combination with my own canopy camera mount: www.stefly.aero/product/kamerahalterung-fuer-segelflugzeughaube/
The camera works flawless without any overheating issue and the price is cheap. For the other sequences I use a Panasonic GH5 which has great in body stabilisation.
Hi, super Video.
Bravo my dreams 👍👍👍
nice ride
Love your video's!! The 5 m average thermals are great. ;-) Why is the transponder off?
How did you fill her up with water before the start. Did someone borrowed you the necessary equipment or did you bring it along? Love to see a video with you preparations. BTW very brave to do this with a pure glider and no ground team.
17:42 Chemtrails :)
schönes Video
Wifi on the Openvario? Or did you download the flight from another device? Would be interested in making my OV wireless 😉
I downloaded the flight directly from the PowerFlarm Fusion. It's already possible to use a wifi dongle at the OpenVario, but not for downloading flights
Ah could have known that 😉 Would be awesome to see that feature for the OV in the future as well!
was hattest du alles so dabei an Ausrüstung ein Video darüber würde mich freuen
Hi , what do you change with your left hand? I dont fly , i am willing to know :) regards
Hi! First of all thank you for the amazing content, I'm a wanna be pilot and I assure you, I want to learn glider flying too! It must be such a wonderful feeling of freedom and peace!
Secondly, I have a question:
Once, you posted a video that you were up in the flight levels and even talking to the atc, however, in a usual glider flight that you can get good thermals and fly like you do, 700 km, how do you separate from powered airplanes on approaches or departures, is it only visually? Is it safe?
Thank you for the answer!
Safe winds and strong thermals sir
Thank you!
Gliders always fly in VFR conditions, so from the legal perspective we have to look out for other aircrafts. There are some devices which can assist for collision avoidance and we glider pilots in Europe usualle use a Flarm device. Some of the can also display ADSB signals, so also powered planes.
@@SteFly thank you very much!
Schönes video👍🐵
penjjh bli
You actually sprayed chemtrails - shame on you :-)
Nonsense - nice video.
Is a good idea. We had with the Akaflieg Aachen yearly the Euro-cup across Europe... one should think about it again. Three classes, possibly also Cats Cradle... The main thing is to reach the end point. Valuation then pragmatically about time, cut and handicap, greetings, Roger
Flying a competition where you land at different airfields must be a joy. Also the Euroglide is a huge competition. It would be great to establish something comparable, perhaps more for the club class gliders and younger generation ;)
700 km in how many hours ? i couldn't see the time spent to cover that many kilometers
Awesome video. Can I ask why you carry water just to dump it?
Du bist in EDOA gelandet… mein Heimatflugplatz. „Hätt ich Dich heut erwartet, hätt ich Kuchen gebacken…“ Ich hoffe die Vogtländer waren freundlich zu Dir? LG
War ein super Aufenthalt bei euch!
Wow its amaezing....!!! but can u tell me what time required for 700 km journey....???
Awesome Stefan, did you stay on the airfields overnight, as organising accommodation beforehand would be unlikely because you couldn’t be sure of your exact destination each day ? Well done, good flying
Yes I did. I had a tent with me but both airfields had rooms where I could stay. The outside temperature at night was below 5 °C ;)
❤️❤️❤️
Wow! What is the average speed of such a nice flying machine?
great experience ! will follow the story behind it to understand the journey
how can you flight such long distance without engine, or does your glider has a small propeller?
Are you living in Frankfurt
How do you make a toilet 🚽 inside plane ✈️ when traveling so long?
Simple answer: if you drink the water from the bottle, and the bottle is empty, you can refill it………..
@@Alex_Eicher 🤢🤮
Lots of sink on this flight, you had to work hard to find the thermals. 😬
Was not my best day and the weather was tricky at some points
👍🏻
Hope you have a parachute!?
Jes
Love from india ♥️..
Why does your variometer not have a maccready ring? Sorry im new to gliding:)
You can suggest your Speed of flying with the Openvario
I have never used a maccready ring and the glide computers know all of this
how many hours did it take?
What glider is this?
Was kostet denn so ein Start?
Does your 29 have a sustainer engine?
No, pure glider
How fast do you cruise your ASG29?
Depending on the conditions up to 200 kph
Is this light plane not allowed to take off alone?
It has no motor 😅
@@SteFly 😭😭
are you allowed to fly international in a glider?
Yes :)
@@EirikAnd99 that is so rad!
Dont want to break it to you but the destination in your video´s thumbnail is not berlin.
What did you skip to the end and see that rural airfield?😆 The video clearly shows a map of this trek and anyone who halfway understands European geography can see he flys By Berlin. The Thumbnail is technically 2 parts. 1st. Travel by glider. 2nd. Berlin.
Best regards my friend.
Question 1: What type of license do I need to fly a glider?
Question 2: How much does one flight cost (Tow plane, water in the wings etc.)
Question 3: How can I be a billionaire so I can afford an LS8neo?🤪
Question 4: Which glider is the best overall?
1. You need SPL (Worldwide) or LAPL(S) (Europe). Or you can be a gliding student and fly with an instructor while not having the license.
2. That depends. Cheapest option is to take off with a winch. That costs something like 5€ and you then maybe also pay for the plane. It is at leasy cheaper to fly with a flying club and not a flight school.
3. You can get a small loan of a billion dollars, or better : Join a club where everyone share the cost.
4. Depends on what you want. For training, something like a ASK 21 is great. There are two and one seters, some are good for aerobatics, some for gliding performance, some for both, some are cheap and some are expensive. DG 1000, Arcus, LS4, ASG 29, Quintus, Shark, Super Dimona, Mü 28, there are many great planes out there.
@@EirikAnd99 Thanks for detailed answer! Highly appreciated!
4: The best high performance production glider is the EB29R at the moment. There are some unique pieces which are even better, e.g. the Concordia
@@SteFly thanks for the answer Stefan!😊
What do you do when you have to take a shit???
