In this video, Marty Nowicki and I explain why the more width you have in your follow through - or the farther the butt of the club is from your body - at parallel to the ground or waist high, the better your contact and the lower your handicap. We’ll also demonstrate how to train this follow through technique to lower your scores and improve your contact.

This is the first time I have been so impressed with a video that i felt the need to make an account to thank you. This video along with the wrist conditions and arm/forearm rotation videos has changed my striking TREMENDOUSLY in the best way! I have never experienced so much improvement from a single range session as I have after watching those few tips. Your more scientific and detailed approach to breaking things down is unlike any other online instructor I have found. My handicap was so high I dont even keep track yet, took these tips out to the neighborhood course and got 2 pars in 6 holes! THANK YOU!
Love it!! Thanks, Matt! Happy to hear that my friend :)
Holy cow! What HUUUUGGGGE difference keeping my arms extended has made in less than 30 minutes. I wish I had seen this a few years ago. I have seen lots of helpful videos but this one stands alone. Thank you very much.
Love it! Thanks Joe!
Played a round today . trying this technique to keep my arms straight and away from my body in my follow thru also face the target . Shot my best round today ever at this course .
Excellent! Love to hear that!
The feeling of squeezing my arms together at full follow through resonated with me. It reminded me of Moe Norman’s arms at follow through.
I’m really liking the guest coaches coming in as well. 👍🏻 appreciate the hard work you all put in!
Thanks, Don! Appreciate it my friend!
Eric Cogorno Golf how do I get the snap impact and the related “discount” mentioned in the video?
Go to impactsnap.com and use coupon code ECGOLF
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know a trick to get back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Dakari Odin Instablaster ;)
This lesson really was a homerun for me. I've always hit the ball relatively solid (mid-80's), but could tell by video feedback that my follow-through wasn't the best and I was losing power plus inconsistency off the club face because of it. Tried keeping my arms extended - not only do I have a much more complete follow through but I found I hit a much better descending blow too. I try to think of like a clock, make sure your extended arms (and therefore the club) touch every number around the clock. Thanks!
Love it Jacob!
This video has changed my swing completely. I am now able to hit good shots consistently !!!!!!! Thank you Eric
My pleasure my friend
Brilliant video. I've seen others with the same objective but the correlation between handicap and "length" that you describe just hits home immediately. One of my favourites!
Thanks, John! I loved that point he made as well!
Glad I came across this gem! Tried the drills at the range and saw a 10 - 15 yard gain, consistency and accuracy. With more practice and swing awareness I am certain this success will translate onto the course! AMAZING VIDEO!
Thanks, Maria!
Great vid, I recorded my swing and noticed I had an awkward follow through and had a lot of trouble with chunking. This has helped me heaps! Thanks
Thank you! Love to hear this one helped your game!!
I am golf beginner, it works well for my driver swing too. A better golf ball contact with a straighter ball flight. Tks to my coach pro Eric Choo of sharing this great video by Cogorno Golf!
Love it! Thanks for watching my friend!
I've been noticing my left arm being bent and up high after I hit and thought that was bizarre!? I decided to google 'follow through in golf' and came upon your video. Wow! Correlating the length of our arms at follow through with scoring certainly help 'drive' home the importance of it! I've focused on it more for directional purposes but now it's even more important. As awful as I now know my left arm-elbow issue is at times, it seems mainly to impact my scoring and swing consistency. Now that I'm aware of this new visual of elbows together and arms lengthened fully in the follow through, I can hardly wait to go practice it!!! Thanks!
Hope it helps Marguerite! Thanks for watching!
Hi Eric this is a game changer for me. I’ve watched other follow through vids of yours and Steve’s but this one walks you through so well. I’ve never really been able to sync mentally the body turn to the straight arms but now like magic I can do it. so THANK YOU..
Glad to hear that Paul! Our pleasure!
You and Marty seem to have a good connection.
Awesome to see cross training between instructors.
Have the impact snap and really like it.
Thanks, Robert! He's a great guy!
Thanks for the lesson. Very simple to understand and work with.
Appreciate it!
Thanks for this lesson .So simple and so productive, great stuff .
Our pleasure!
This was great, thanks, been searching for "do professional golfers have handicaps?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Tonayden Senadelyn Remedy - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my mate got amazing success with it.
Wow.. This is so helpful, thanks. Getting a resistance band immediately
Hope it helps!
Another great drill, learn from this all golfers!
Appreciate it!👊
Thank you Eric Cogorno for another great and useful video. I do find that I need to be sure my lead hip is open before I extend, otherwise I feel the pressure/stretch in my low back rather than down my obliques and abs. In the video, you mention going over some things to protect your back during this part of the swing. Will you point me to some instruction on how to do that? Thanks again!
Hey Matthew
Yes in the follow through you are looking to make sure you have enough TURN, SHIFT and EXTENSION.
Make sure you are pushing hips forward enough

Thank you Eric, another excellent tip.
Our pleasure Joe! Thanks for watching the channel!
Wonderful video. The long arms versus short arms was an eye opener. Thank you Eric.
same for me!
My pleasure :)
Great series of videos with Marty. Thank you Eric. We have work now !!!!
Thanks! He was great!
Mr Cogorno, great video as always. At 68 I'm still some what of a beginner ( 2 yrs ) I see all the good players doing this. My question; at what point in the swing do I straighten my trail arm? At impact, before impact or right after impact? Thank you! And keep up the great work, we appreciate it!
Thanks, Mark!
45* after impact would be good!
Really good tutorial for the follow through. It's ridiculous that my strong 7 iron beginner's club can't reach 150 yards carry at all, my video recordings really show that I almost instantly fold my elbows after impact because I really didn't think it was that important but upon taking a closer look, the follow through is a reflection of the club head speed i.e. the distance. Again, this video is a GREAT tutorial on how to work on the follow through. Will try it next time I'm on the range!
Thanks!
Eric. I love your videos.... You are so amazing at explaining stuff!
Appreciate it my friend!
@@CogornoGolf OMG OMG you replied to me... I feel so starstruck. HAHAHA Nah bro.. your explaination of the side bend made a huge difference. Also the idea of "feeling" rather than what you see on video. I love it.. It makes so much sense and works when I was explaining stuff to my wife and she improved her swing drastically afterwards!
Great video Eric and really well explained by you and Marty. Love these simple moves that any golfer can learn and implement without any complex swing positions. When we are squeezing the arms together in those post impact position, when do you think the wrists will hinge again?
This was my question too. Shouldn’t the wrists be hinging again once the arms are horizontal, whereas you have them fully extended in this vid?
Hey man!
In reality it should look something like this: ruclips.net/video/bY1q7k84djs/видео.html
OF course here Marty is showing a training technique, which like a lot of our other videos I explain you HAVE TO EXAGGERATE movements to find middle!
So these feels past impact are a great way to train for a lot of people to feel what impact and past impact needs to feel like
Hey Eric, another great video. Love the impact snap. I know you’re talking about the follow through, but there’s another really simple drill that I stumbled on for the takeaway. And that is to just feel the ball brush across your right thigh on the first part of the takeaway. It keeps you from flipping your wrists and keeps yours hands inside. Thanks again and keep ‘em coming.
I think Eric did a video some time ago illustrating just this if I recall correctly With a tee stuck in butt end
Ian Tweedie Yes, I remember that video. I was just saying that you could actually use the ball of the impact snap to brush across your thigh in the first part of the takeaway. So you could use the impact snap for takeaway, impact and follow through. Great training aid.
Hey John!
I have never seen or heard of that-love the idea! I will check it out next time I use it and try it! Great idea!
Really good thanks
Thanks, Kevin!
Very informative. Could you cover talking about what path the club and clubface takes from hip high to Hip High when you are hitting a straight shot?
Hey Rickie!
Thanks! Sure can!
Heres a good visual that should show you what you are looking for
ruclips.net/video/S0NS5B5KIHg/видео.html
The club works in more or less a half circle around your body...the face and how much it rotates about that circle depends on several other factors (grip, face alignments, rotation amounts, tilts, etc)
Hi Eric, how can I buy this tool ? I am in Vietnam and following your instruction programs. Thanks.
Hey there!

Really worked for me the 2 days I tried this. Almost feel like have a superpower engaged for my length of shots compared to previous swings.
Love it!
Greatest insight ever, simple and super effective. I love “ I’m not saying that you can’t shot 78 but the likelihood of the occurring is slim”😂😂😂👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🏆🏆🏆🏆. Lastly: where can I get the tool?
:)
Impactsnap.com. Coupon code ECGOLF
Great video. Thank you. Can you go into more detail on what this is doing to the swing? You mentioned widening the arc. Could you go into more detail?
Hey Jon!
Thanks! For sure can...perhaps another video!
Well done! Thank you!
Must work on this, feels like throwing the club at the target
Thank you!
I have tried this in the past at the range with a 7 iron and hit it great.
Love it!
Loved the tip however I don't feel flexible enough to do the drill let alone on course. Is it ok to perform the extension with the arms but shorten my follow through?
Hey! Yep!
Eric I love your channel and I'm sure that you and Marty and Impact Snap have helped thousands of golfers, but when I do this drill I feel so much tension in my body. I don't have any problem at all slowing the swing speed down but everything from grip pressure to forearm tension all the way up to my shoulders gets so tight. There has to be something simple that I'm missing. Thanks for the channel you do GREAT work.
Thanks!
I wouldn't assume that that "tension" you are feeling is a bad thing....may be a good thing.
I heard some people say to release the club at 45 degree and you said at 90. which one is right> Thank you for your input.
45* is reality but most need to FEEL 90 to get to 45* because they throw too early

@@CogornoGolf Thank you very much!
I’m a 5-6 handicap who consistently has a collapsing left arm at impact. It looks absolutely horrible on video! But I still hit it solid and straight. Would love to have good extension thru the ball but I’ve never figured out how to make it happen. Thus, I’ve adapted.
Hey Tim! IF you hit it solid and straight Im not sure I would look to change that!
Eric
Is this full extension applicable to all clubs including driver?
I realize you will not be using half swings 4iron-driver very often but does the full extension apply? I'm guessing it does.
The pitching action with the arm extension look fairly similar to Steve Stricker, who is ( as we say in Glasgow) , no bad!
Hey Mike!
In general: yes.
Can an 'incorrect' follow through be a consequence of something wrong in the backswing or release? I mean, is something else we can do then being 'aware' of the follow through extension? Thanks!!
100%.....could be lots of things. I would need to see your swing on video to provide guidance there....but sometime you can reverse engineer (follow through first) and fix earlier issues.
Im a scratch player according to this new way of measuring hcp! LOL, thanks for another interesting tips.
You're all set :)
How can we get a promo code for the impact snap please?

Fantastic . How can I get in touch with u guy's?
Hey Paul!

My trail arm is extended. I'm cool with that.
Thanks for watching!
if what you say about the handicap then my hands must be rubbing on my body ...LOL Great Video will keep this lesson in mind
:)
like the idea of the impact snap but only in right handed I know there are some of us goofy handed golfers just wonder if there is a chance of a left handed model going to be produced ?
Hey Mike! Someone else mentioned that as well, but when I check on the site it shows they have a left handed model? Not sure...I would contact their support on the site! They are great!
The feeling of squeezing your elbows together is that a good feeling to have at address also?
Absolutely! Feeling that throughout the ENTIRE swing is a great feel. Here is more on this topic!

Stack and tilt babyyyyy
Great fundamentals to build an awesome golf swing!
My issue with the Impact Snap is the “Snap” part. I feel like I’m wrenching my arms into the desired position. When I try to do that in a full swing the result is somewhat of a mess. While the new club face attachment is an improvement I think a normal club that allows you to get into the impact position (with the ball touching the trail arm) as part of a swing with a normal flow would be much better. The snap concept isn’t all that great for your tempo IMHO.
Thanks for the feedback!
Impact snap is great from a feeling standpoint but once you take a club it is hard because it is a longer lever... unless you know to "compensate" thats the secret of golf...
Ewwww that beetle at 7:15 that crawls on his face would’ve had me running lol, great video though!!
:)
thanks 👍
Our pleasure!
Didn’t get it? This is all about past impact. What is it good for and how does that influence the most important parts of the swing, clubhead, path, impact, curvature of the ball?
Hey Bernd.
Sorry you didn't get it-thanks for the feedback!
We have 600 other videos here, Im sure with some searching you can find what you're looking for :)
Hope all is well
Great drill a wider arch hit the ball better makes sense
Yessir!
Does this work with all irons?
In general: yes.
Interesting
Yup!
Gonna squeeze the elbows together on the follow-thru
:)
With driver too?
This would apply to driver as well, yes!
Lol so I’m scratch and I actually am terrible at this. My follow thru is honestly so ugly. Any more drills on how to accomplish this?
Hey Mike!
I would check out these videos as well for more details and feels:
ruclips.net/video/wN3zdLoEihU/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/pbyZpiTnNlY/видео.html
Hope they help!
Just to pay devils advocate. I understand follow through positionv straight arms/chicken winging etc may be a reflection of 'what's gone on in the swing' before that. Is straight arms at club parallel therefore always better for all golfers or do other issues eg club face need to be corrected first? Interested in your views Eric as you've always said club face is king ..
You need to fix the ROOT issue of WHY its happening in the first place....
BUT you can reverse engineer as well during that process.
@@CogornoGolf thanks. Can you suggest a way of reverse engineering this position please? Eg I find it easier to draw rather than fade the ball with this position
What if you have big arms and barrel chest...
Arms would be a bit less on top of chest
Great videos, great content. - but too long😴 by repeating things to make a point we heard the first time. I’m happy to view the video more than once for it to sink in if needed = more views 👍
Thanks for the feedback!
Smart ball 3/4 swings
Yes love that as well!
Pity, but the truth 😁
:)
7:14 :O what is on his face?!
Hmmm. According to this I should be at least a 7 hcp but I'm not...
Lol well looks like you have some figuring out to do my friend!
@@CogornoGolf I'm a new subscriber and am benefiting from your content. I'm just not buying the hcp indicator of your guest. Plus, ballstriking does count for a lot in the game but there are several other factors as well.
Thanks for the feedback, Ferdinand!
Ugh! Huge bug! Great video though!
Thanks!
😱😱😱
Hit the f&&&ing ball already! Geez!
:)
“Right? Right? Right? Right?”
Lol my bad
@@CogornoGolf just busting your chops … I think your videos are excellent. Right? ;)
V
Hi Eric.....Sorry to tell you but, last three videos with this guy had been painful to watch. I don't know where you found him, he is gonna mess you up big time my friend. The left arm gets pulled in towards your chest after impact, as long as you keep turning the left shoulder in synch with the body. I learned to play golf the Ben Hogan way, and I suggest you search for some of his images after impact, and you'll see that he didn't do that; for that to happen....you have to watch "Bradley Hughes Golf- Hand Path..Out Is Down" and....How To Hit Down On The Ball From The Inside Path by Bradley too. With respect, Bradley can explain the way I learned to play golf decades ago, better than me. Warm regards
Thanks for the feedback!
Surprised you say that still everyone to their own. I play off of 3 so quite reasonable but still learnt from these vids and Marty deserves some respect as he really does know his stuff. I would add that I also think Brad Hughes excellent also.
fell asleep soooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring
Lol thanks for the feedback!
Me too
