The effect from the shelf liner is so cool. And I’m pretty sure every artist got super excited the first time we all saw that netting packing material lol. Gorgeous colour palette. The blue & browny pink circles on the R & centre look so much like a jellyfish.
Packaging is the best to have around. There are so many types and materials. I have lots of fun stuff I hang on to and use in many of my pieces. As a former pkg eng, since retired, I would dig through suppliers scrap materials looking for fun things. I still have a shelf full of goodies waiting their turn 😊
New adventures every time -- I'm glad that piece *was* in fact three dimensional, when I saw it in the thumbnail I thought damn, how did that woman get her paints to look 3D -- at least you haven't gone that far yet :) ❤🧡💛
I've been watching you so much that I've taken on many of your phrases 😄 I've realised I say 'good choice' to my doggo almost daily now 😄🌻 Beautiful and elegant piece 🥰
You're going to cause a run on dish packing materials;) Great idea and enjoyed the 3-D element. Was thrilled to she the brass nib pen come out again as it's been forever since you used it! Thanks, Denise! Many blessings.
Love how you just let the paints do their thing. The circles look delicate but then you add the other elements (sans snot) that grab you. Great paint day for sure. Thank you, Denise.🤗
Denise, I’ve watched almost every one of your videos and I’m continually inspired by your art. Of all your wonderful pieces, this is my absolute favorite. I love the textures, the colors, and the collage element!
Love this piece! I'm going to use that color palette today and see what happens. It photographs so beautifully with the 3d effect of the waffle packing. Beautiful!
Love these colors! So pretty! Regarding getting circles from the dip pen - if anyone is having difficulty, make sure the pen is fully loaded & there aren't any dried ink blobs impeding the flow. Also, the angle of the pen to the paper will change the mark that's made, so experiment with that. If you're holding the pen like you're writing (which tends to be more of an angle to the paper) rather than drawing (which is more straight down to the paper) it will give a different result.
I was so intrigued by that 3D element you added when I saw your thumbnail photo in my feed. Loved the painting and marks that you made that were circular but not literally in a circle (way to think out of the circle, lol). Then wham - the unexpected - that packing material! I snickered when you said you didn’t want globs of glue on it that people might wonder if it was snot! 😂 So good!!!
Love this piece! I just got some of that packaging material the other day. I was more excited about getting the package material then I was getting what I ordered. 😂
Love the subtle watercolors and the shelf liner texture. Punchinella can be a great collage element. Sand the shiny paint off and paint over, or grunge it up with rust or patina finishes. (hint I'd like to see what you do with it!)
You find the coolest things to use in your paintings. I asked for an empty roll from the paper label machine at the UPS store yesterday - I had to explain that I was an artist.😊. I love the 3-D element of this so much!!!!
This is fabulous. New subscriber! Love the combination of subtle colours, circles and doodles. That shelf liner texture is awesome!! I use that paper mesh a lot in my collage. If you spread it out and tape it down over some other paper, you can spray it with ink to colour it, and it acts as a stencil at the same time, producing awesome results on the layer underneath. I've sprayed it with gold over a dark coloured card which looks fantastic. In its raw state, you can expand it, and rub the raised surface with gilding wax which looks great against the brown paper. You can also use it to create texture on the gel plate, and then use the piece with the paint on it in collage. I need to stop saving this now, as I've got a whole roll of pieces of it that have come with deliveries. As for the paper punchinella, I use the leaflets that come with my medication. It is already accordion-folded, and it's printed. Without unfolding it, I punch holes in it with my Crop-a-Dile and then unfold it. You get a much nicer effect than punchinella because the holes are not completely regular. I combine both sizes of hole from the Crop-a-Dile. Again, you can spray this and use it as a stencil at the same time. It tears beautifully along the perforations, leaving a great edge, and I often use little strips that are torn from two adjacent lines of holes. The printing on it adds texture and interest. You can search for examples of this in my projects on my blog - link in my profile.
Just beautiful but no surprise there cause everything you do is amazing. I too cannot get circles with my pen either. Guess I need to practice more on scrap paper.
Vitacost supplement company sends fragile stuff wrapped in that same paper. I’ve layered it under modeling paste and used it to subtract paint for textures, but never like you just did. My cat likes to sling it around too lol

That makes some good texture! ☺️

Haha! Perfect cat toy! 🐈⬛🐈😹
This is gorgeous! Question…how do you clean your nib from the gold ink?
I just rinse it in water immediately and wipe with my rag. Haven’t had an issue doing that. ☺️
I have the digital set of Sarah's cards and just love how random I can be! Love the 3D element. Good paint morning!
I love experimenting with the palettes! Thank you! 🥰
I’m curious, Denise….when you choose a palette from the color cube, do you choose from the photo or the color swatches? TIA
Maybe a bit of both? Lots of times I just pull a card with out looking at it and run with that one. 😁
