Thank you for your review! I have a Lanshan 2 tent, and I put on some seamsealing where there was bar tacks sewed through the seam sealing tape. It hasn't leaked a drop. I guess if left without seam sealing, it can stand short or light rain, but not hard rain over time. The only issue I have had is that I cracked one of the plastic clips holding up the innertent top corner (guess the Lanshan 1 only has one of those). I replaced it with a rubber band as a quick fix, I think I will go for a mini carabiner as a permanent fix, making it easy to separate inner and outer tent when needed. Otherwise, I haven't spotted any obvious weak points. It has performed well in rain and up to moderate winds. I don't dare to reckommend it to those who tent exposed to strong winds until I can test it further. I hope my comment is helpful for those curious of this tent. 😀
I was able to get a little more head and foot room by using a ~1m/3ft stick to lift the head/foot fly guy lines. The stick pulled the ends of the fly up and away from my face/feet. If you simply run the line from the fly straight to the stake it essentially pulls the fly (and subsequently the inner mesh tent) down towards your face/feet.
Just got one and I agree with everything you said. Great value for the money for light weight trekking pole backpacking tent. For US viewers I got mine on Amazon for the same price. This is the newer version which is double wall design which should be better for condensation.
Thanks for the heads up! Having had a quick look it looks like it's still shipped from China (?) and it's a relatively new seller with few feedback (although the feedback it has seems to be good). Still going to recommend from my own experience that reputable AliExpress sellers and AliExpress themselves have always been very helpful when things go wrong
I just received this same tent. I haven’t set it up yet but I did examine it. The constitution looks good. I think this is a hard value to beat. I recommend it!!
Thanks for your quick answer. Never found the informations on any AE description 😉 Keep doing perfects video and waiting for the Lanshan 1 pro review 🙂
Hey Richard have seen you using this tent on one of your hike vids and looks good just wondering if you have used it in worse weather conditions and how it held up
I've used it in many different conditions apart from extreme wind and snow. It's held up fine so far, no issues apart from a little bit of condensation tend to collect on the fly around dawn
Hi Ben, that is possible, you can also pitch fly only. However you will need to also peg the inner out, so I just pitch it all in one go to make it easier
@@RichardCheng Okay thank you so much for your reply! Is pitching like that as easy as just staking out the outer, and than clipping the inner to the outer? Or is it more complicated than that? P.S If you ever have the time (and money, definitely go take a look at the Dan Durston X-mid Tents!)
Hi Ben, even simpler I leave the inner attached to the outer, so it’s packed away and pitched together. I know the X-Mid exists, but I’m happy with my Lanshan 1 and Lanshan 1 Pro so I have no reason to collect more gear!
@@RichardCheng What do you do after a rainy night? During a rainstorm I like to separate the inner and outer by keeping the outer on the outside of my pack and the inner inside in order to keep my gear inside dry.
I shake the tent before packing away and try to air it the next day at camp if possible. If it’s still raining I’m not too concerned about a bit of moisture left inside and give it a wipe with a towel
Hi Bill. The long term review covers the Lanshan in the wind and rain ruclips.net/video/Xv6c8Jv1QRM/видео.html My vlogs also show the Lanshan in various conditions
Thanks for your review and thanks for the lbs conversion! Are you still using it?/How did it hold up? edit - disregard question. Saw the other link in the description.
Hi Mike. I haven't taken it in seriously windy conditions with the Lanshan yet, but have experienced a few gusts. From my experience so far I haven't felt a draft come through the mesh as the flysheet 'protects' the inner. I will hopefully do an update video soon now the days are getting longer and I have a trip to the Lake District planned
Thanks for the prompt reply Richard. Glad to know that you've felt no draughts so far. Going by one of the diagrams on their website, it does look like the fly protects the inner. Aliexpress have a sale coming up too. Looks like I'll be making a purchase soon! :)
Do becareful with the AliExpress 'sales' though. Many sellers tend to inflate the prices shortly before a 'big sale' to entice and tempt more buyers. Even though the prices are lower than the pre-inflated price, the sales aren't as steep as you're led to believe!
Thank you for these reviews. I've been wondering about how well made these products are. I've seen some 3F UL gear videos and AegisMax, and since they are from Asia most people write them off, but the more I looked at them they seemed just as solid as many more well known brands.
Trying to decide if I should buy the 3F 1 or 2 Lanshan. Would like to hear from people who bought the 1 person how they like it (I heard lots about the 2). Does the inner mesh tent sag and touch your feet/face, or can it be stretched taut, and is this a problem? Is it stable in storms with winds? Waterproof from rains? Condensation? Finally, I saw that 3F now offers a 4-season inner mesh tent along side with the 3-season version. Anyone buy this new 4-season variety? How does it compare with the 3-season? Is it breathable? It apparently is the same weight so how are they different?
On my air pad with my winter sleeping bag the mesh does brush either my toes or my hair. Can't be stretched until it's 'taut' as the lengths are simply too long, other people's experiences may vary. Very mild condensation in heavy sustained prolonged rain, although this may be partially due to me storing already damp or wet rain gear in the tent or in the porch. No issues with the weather otherwise so far in my use. Hope that helps with your purchasing decision!
For some reson.i notice tht the mosqito netting seems to sag abit tords the face&body. Is the entire tent made from the sil-nylon(waterproof) ? Thanks for sharring this great review.
+George rosado Hi George, the tent is made out of 15D sil-nylon and it is indeed waterproof. With regards to the netting sag it's due to my poor pitching technique. After a few more pitches over the course of the last couple of months the sagging is now pretty much nonexistent
Hi Richard. Thanks for the review. How did you fix the sagging problem? Did you lift the pole? If so did it raise the fly from the ground to leave a big gap between fly and ground?
+David Stefanovic hey David. I didn't lift the pole any further but I did get better at pitching the tent through setting up the guylines better and re-adjusting the ground pegs. There is a little bit of a gap between the fly and the ground but nothing significant
Every order I've had from AliExpress has been delivered within 20 days. Although right now the delivery and shipping times could be longer due to Chinese New Year and the public holidays
Hi Feija, just a quick update having used it more during the midge season. As long as my mesh is zipped up I've yet to find any little insect or flies including midges inside the netting.
+Melon Bites hi Melon Bites, thanks for the suggestion. I've played around with setting the pole longer than 127cm but wasn't very happy with the amount of tension on the tie out points, what do you set yours at?
Richard Cheng what happens to the tension beyond 127cm? I presume it's tighter and therefore pulls the inner out further from the inside space? Great video.
Excellent review. I'm looking for a new tent but being in Japan they are either too short or the foreign ones exorbitant. Your tent looks awesome. I think I will take the plunge. Many thanks.
If there was one flaw with the tent it would be the condensation. However, you can mitigate some of that through site selection and a more 'airy' pitch. Throughout my use I've only had one night where the condensation was really bad and that was in sustained heavy rain metres away from marsh

Great, just another feature why i should by this. haha I dont use a treking pole, And would rather use a long paracord tree to tree then connect the tip of the tent to the tree connected line. I still rather buy this model over the newer model. Thanks Rich!

I think you should make some more videos Richard. I like your style...😁
Thanks Richard, have a couple of upcoming trips planned 👍🏻
Pitch it higher. 130cm. Add some cord if needed. Also see if you can move that loop or hook of the inner tent down, so you can pull it more up.
+drie wiel after a few more attempts at pitching almost all of the issues I had with slack is resolved!
I agree I think 130 cm is about right height,125 cm is two low

Can you tell us the weight of the inner and the outer tent ?
Thanks a lot
Thanks Blanc. I unfortunately don’t have the break down to hand, but it’s broken down on the AliExpress listing descriptions usually
Thanks for your quick answer. Never found the informations on any AE description 😉

to find the YKK branding, look at the arc in the metal where the pull cord is threaded through. You will see YKK embossed on the side.
Perhaps different batches uses different zips? Cannot find the branding on mine but regardless it's smooth enough
Hey Richard is it possible to pitch this tent fly first? And then attach the inner for setting up in the rain

Thanks Martin. Yeah this is my 1 person tent that I always use
Great review buddy, I am looking for a lightweight tent but don't want to spend a lot of money. This one definitely looks worth considering.
Thanks Kuukkeli. It’s a great tent and hope it works for you if you do end up going with it
Fantastic, thorough review. Well done!
Thank you Jules!
Hi Richard. Thanks for the review. What has it been like for wind resistance? I'm worried that with its mesh inner it could be slightly cold inside?
Hi Mike. I haven't taken it in seriously windy conditions with the Lanshan yet, but have experienced a few gusts. Hope it works out for you!
Lanshan or vango Cairngorm 100 for winter and high winds ?
I’ve not used the Vango cairngorm 100, but my Lanshan 1 has held up in high wind well
At 1:12 AM, you held a blue rope. What is it for? I set up my tent and I do not know where to use it! Thanks for the review!
Additional guylines

No worries Noah. I think for the price these are brilliant pieces of gear, but they do come with caveats that may need to be considered
Do you recommend getting a footprint for this tent?
I use window insulation or polycro as a DIY footprint for the tent, much lighter and does the job

Any chance of reviewing the 3F UL X Pac? Seems really interesting. Thanks in advance.
+J Y definitely interested in the product, looks very enticing! If I do end up buying one I'll definitely do a review on it

+David Stefanovic definitely mate. Honestly at the price point I have no regrets with my purchase
Hey man, I just bought the Lanshan 2, about how long from clicking BUY to your doorstep did it take to get your tents?
Every order I've had from AliExpress has been delivered within 20 days. Although right now the delivery and shipping times could be longer due to Chinese New Year and the public holidays
Well done review, Mr. Cheng.
Thanks Jo-Jo
Richard, would you say the mesh is midge proof?
To the best of my knowledge yes, but I haven't had extensive test during midge season
Thank you!

I set it at around 125cm, and it looks tight. What i do is first stake it, and finally I put the pole.....
thanks Melon Bites, I saw your videos. but Mr Cheng shows how to set up. Gracias, I'll soon be in Patagonia
Richard Cheng what happens to the tension beyond 127cm? I presume it's tighter and therefore pulls the inner out further from the inside space? Great video.
The fly gets pull on more but you don't get that much more livable space inside the mesh
Excellent review.

I think I will take the plunge.
Many thanks.
It's a great tent, hope it works out for you too!
thanks for showing tent setup. Only your video shows how. Xie xie!
treborrelluf no worries, hope I was able to help with the set up, it's a shame it didn't come with instructions
can anyone suggest what i can use as a tent pole instead of a walking stick ?
i have bought the same tent , i have read that the condensation is quite bad in this tent what is your experience is it bad condensation

i have just bought this tent now i ma thinking of selling it before i have used it
100% sure as the fly wasn't just wet from connection points, but moist all over due to condensation
do you regret buying it now as i am thinking about getting rid of mine and i haven't even used it yet
Not one single bit
can you pitch this tent up from a tree using the tie up point on the top instead of using the treking pole?
Never personally done it but should be possible
Great, just another feature why i should by this. haha
I dont use a treking pole, And would rather use a long paracord tree to tree then connect the tip of the tent to the tree connected line.
I still rather buy this model over the newer model.
Thanks Rich!
Thanks for the review!
