This is the first story you’ve narrated that I almost quit listening to. It was so well written but so infuriating, I could barely tolerate how I felt. This is true horror on a different level. Amazing!

@actual physical pain Well it happens and it could happen in real life, so it makes it scary nonetheless.
My ex was abusive, verbally and emotionally. He never got physical with me, however those scars run deep. I'm lucky now as I have a husband who has helped lift me up out of that darkness. It still creeps in now and again but I have 2 lights in my life, my husband and my son, to see me through.

Ugh this pissed 😤 me off! You know I understand there are some scummy dudes in this world that do scummy things, but the police and justice system need to look for more concrete evidence then just word of mouth when men are accused! Any women can go to the police and accuse any man of being raped, beaten, or assaulted and he will immediately get arrested without any evidence!! Then the guy gets treated like a pariah whether he’s guilty or not. Lives ruined because someone else can’t handle rejection!!

I just had to come back and listen to this amazing narration one more time. I'm the author of the story and the book titled 'Maria' will soon be in the works for a full-fledged novel, so I had to come back to revisit how I wrote it.

They get away with it all the time. As a single man, this scares the crap out of me. That's why I refuse to ever be alone with women that I don't allready know really, really, well. All it takes is an accusation and your life will be ruined. So I just don't put myself in that position. And before I get intimate with a woman, I make sure I have a signed contract stating that she wants to have sex with me. Its a mood killer, but at least its some form of protection against false rape charges. It used to be that all a guy needed was a nice shirt, and a condom, but now the pre-printed consent forms are part of that kit. Crazy world we live in.

Well at least there was a happy ending!... Kind've.
I was tormented for 5 years by someone like this. (Think "Sleeping with the enemy" style) He was a narcissistic sociopath, I only barely made it out and had to change all my details, never speak to my friends again and move far away. Then he found me again and stalked me and my family for 2 years. These evil monsters are scarier than any supernatural entity you could dream up. There needs to be more support for people going through the terror, not just the ones that make it out.

Do you even realize how spoiled you sound? There a so many people who never even get to be in a relationship, who will never experience the feeling of someone caring enough about them to actually stick around. Be thankfull that you even have/had a relationship and try to make the best of it. It's a luxury not afforded to all.
I dated this girl when I was living in Canada, thank you for re-traumatizing me.

I think this is one of the better stories I've heard in a long while because of how surreal it is. Imagine being the poor sap in this story! You never really know how crazy someone can truly be...
Oh my God...the author of this sounds like they had experience with this kind of hell...very good writing...it made me furious...I've had a relationship similar to this...never ever again...I don't think I could restrain myself like this...I don't do well with being manipulated and threatened like this...she would definitely disappear without a trace

Wow, Doctor!! I have to say, I don't normally feel true panic when listening to even the most frightening or gristly stories, but this one...really got to me. I've had three sociopaths do their best to ruin my life in the past, so this hit home pretty hard because one never really recovers from that sort of thing. That being said, I love your work, you are the best in this art form, and I'd never try to disuade you from choosing any subject matter; after all, the most effective horror is that which is possible and relatable. His FIRST mistake was telling Maria that Helena was his friend knowing full well how much she hates him having female friends. His second mistake was when Federika came over, he did not leave with her IMMEDIATELY after knowing what Maria did to Helena. He should have known that with her coming over, she was risking her life but poor Federika found out too late.

I've had a boyfriend who was like this and then when he became the ex he got even crazier and stalker ish years later he is still trying to mess things up with my fiance and I. Like straight up crazy nut job.
It's even worse when kids are involved...no kids between you I hope...I know how it feels...it makes you feel like you're the one who's crazy

I'm dealing with a crazy ex who has started stalking me. Its gotten to the point where she has been messaging my co workers and started harassing them. I will keep taking the high and not stoop to her level. Thank you dr. I feel your voice guides me through tough times.

@Boris Bacic I decided to take a long bubble bath and listen to this story to ease away my stressful day. I usually don't feel strong negative emotions in stories because I know it's fiction but this one has me cursing and so emotive that my husband knocked on the bathroom door to make sure I'm ok. This woman is enraging and has me thinking of ways to help Jake out of this situation and give Maria what she deserves. It's great writing when the forget that it's not real. I look forward to your full book on Maria. She needs her own backstory.

Panda Hungry - yeah murdering people, 1 right in front of him, just wasn’t enough for him to make a plan. The 2nd murder wasn’t enough either. Wonder how many other people he would’ve let die if she hadn’t hurt his finger.
Honestly I think he was in shock and didn't know what to do and his losing a finger's physical pain snapped him out of it. Going to the hospital was his only chance to get out of the house and tell someone and I was mentally egging him on then at his first real chance. Tell a nurse, tell anyone while she's actually not in the room with you!

No, he went to the police the night Frederic’s was killed. He even said that she was gone for hours, giving him plenty of time to go to the police station.

Cook liked a 5 star chef, and could converse intelligently for hours on just about every subject... BUT, when she metabolized her meds and needed to have them adjusted, or simply forgot to take them... Or was just simply having a "bad day"... Made the worst and scariest descriptions of HELL seem like a Club Med resort. BUT, when she was on... "That" girl I miss, truth B told.
