They need to do a full movie on Frankie. The 90s movie “Why do Fools Fall in Love” was mostly about the inheritance money, but it wasn’t a full Frankie story.

Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers were truly talented, clean-cut, and good-looking young men. Their vocal ranges and impressive harmony helped to launch future all-male and all-female vocal groups. Sherman Gaines also had one of the most unique baritone voices of all time. It's a shame that they were not properly groomed for superstardom. A feature-length film documenting their meteoric rise to fame needs to be produced. I never thought the 1998 film starring Larenz Tate did them any justice. I'd like to know what became of the other group members as well. Frankie's quick descent on Skid Row was one of the most tragic events in music history.

This was an amazing video and yet such a sad story, he had such a bright future ahead of him. I hate that drugs had to take him from us at such a young age.
There was another song that he did called Seabreeze, I heard that he actually wrote that song while he was in rehab and recorded it right before he passed away and it was released like right after. I became very interested in the story a while back after seeing the movie. I'm guessing not very many people know about that track. It's a very powerful song and it actually hits pretty hard after you know that it posthumously released.

Frankie Lymon was truly ahead of his time, he became a star strictly on his voice alone, that's really impressive, but also unfortunate because of jim crow south. Racist america wasn't ready for a phenom like Frankie Lymon, he and The Teenagers paved the way for groups like B2k, Boyz ll Men, Hi Five, New Edition, The Jackson 5 etc. It's tragic how his star wasn't able to shine because of ignorance. Sadly, the young boy here presented as an adult at the age of 13, got involved with adults that screwed him. Beginning with a girl of 18 introducing him to heroin. He must also have been coaxed by other adults into claiming authorship of a song in which the only thing he did, was the coin the phrase. A young talent completely destroyed by “guiding” adults!

I’m telling you if he weren’t strung out on drugs and preserved his voice they would’ve worked with him and his new voice and it really could’ve sold for real! They just didn’t want nothing to with his addiction so it was easy to right him off because of his voice change.

Fox, Lela Rochon, etc.there were so many tragic events in his life that were not featured in the film, this made the movie very laughable in a sad 😥 way.

Too bad Frankie Lymon grew up much too fast for such a young kid, and of course died so tragically, and also despite being vocally talented, his music career was so short, (He was a one Hit Wonder) unfortunately 😥😔!!!

Some of these comments are a mess. Like the guy at the end of the comments said that Frankie snuck into strip clubs. Where did you get that from? The thing is a lot of you people today try to judge older celebrities wether they are alive or not All of you thinking you know their story but you don't learn someone's story before you judge and a lot of you still go by what was put in the movie.

It’s absolutely infuriating how young black artists were seriously taken advantage of constantly- manipulated and forced into the worst contracts, knowing they weren’t businessmen or obtained any sensible knowledge of the business and what they were signing and accepting. There’s ALWAYS a “lighter skinned”/ white person behind it all- the ones who are actually making all the money, becoming wealthy from their artists, but throwing gifts at them to keep them from walking, questioning their contracts/money dues, etc- and made them feel like they were being treated accordingly- by giving them cars, houses, money given to them here and there- but always questioned why they needed the money, what it was for, etc- for the fact they can always maintain full control over them! And of course, they definitely didn’t want them feeling or expressing all the “gifts” they were given were indeed not gifts- but things they worked for, deserved, and definitely entitled to! Such a corrupt business. These artists weren’t aware they should seek legal counsel and obtain lawyers for the certainty of receiving what’s due, what they worked so hard for, and what they’re entitled to! Such amazingly talented, iconic artists were treated so terribly by corruption and greed!

He was a drug addict at 15, not 13. A woman 30 years old introduced him to skin poppers. He thought he wouldn't get addicted. He was smoking, drinking, fighting, getting intro trouble, cursing up a storm, and sneaking into strip clubs tho.
