Denji is the only 'pervert' character in the whole of anime I not only tolerate, but genuinely love. I put pervert in quotations because he's so different from the normal resident pervert character in anime (looking at you, Mineta) that calling him that seems like an insult. What makes him truly different from the others is the fact that he *always* asks for consent and isn't a creepy weirdo about it. He also truly doesn't know any better, as he grew up poor and orphaned without any friends, so he doesn't know societal norms. But not only is his 'perviness' not his only character trait, but that part of him and his views on intimacy and relationships is a major part of the story and the show will build on that the later seasons. He's also just an all around incredible and fun character.

Well Mineta is a one note side character there for the jokes. Denji is the MC. You should not expect the same amount of layers from those two.

Chainsaw Man might be the only shounen anime where the fanservice is not only necessary, but subversive at the same time. In most shows, it's pretty annoying, pointless and distracting, but here it actually adds to Denji's growth, as unhinged as he may be, and actually evolves into something more meaningful. And on top of that, the female cast of CSM might be the best in its genre, which is crazy to think about since the premise in the beginning might sound like the most sexist in the industry. And some of the best haven't even been introduced in season 1 yet :)

that denji (like any other teenager in his age but he specifically) is prone to being manipuleted. It shows that people in Public Safety are very much gray characters. That Himeno is struggling and her coping mechanism for it is alcohol, sex and cigarettes. She assoults Denji in a moment of weakness which is not ok and its clear its not. Also it points out of importance of intimacy with ppl you care about and not with just anybody
Shout out to Makima's Eng VA, Suzie Yeung! The range she has is incredible being able to go from Makima to Yuffie in FF7!
Forreal. She's one of those casts where the voice-acting is LITERALLY perfect. She's such a great fit for Makima that every CM fan-dub on RUclips I've seen is just them emulating Suzie's performance.
The same goes for Power, too.

Fujimoto is a goddamn madman. I've read Chainsaw Man and Goodbye Eri and I need to read more. The man is one of the best mangaka currently writing. He's also certifiably insane.
@@saltyk9869 If you haven't read another one of his one-shots, Look Back, I cannot recommend it enough. You could also wait for the movie since it is getting an adaptation that releases in Japan in June, but I'd honestly say it's better to read it immediatdly. It's genuinely a masterpiece.

Chainsaw man is honestly an EXCELLENT portrayal of sexual abuse and predatory behaviour towards a teenage boy. Makima and all her odd choices and behaviours each play a great way of carefully weaving the conscripts of a kid desperate for anything to do exactly as she desires. The series as a whole covers a lot of disturbing and psychological content, I hope Montana picks up on the signs as the show progresses outside of her general thirst for dom Makima behaviour XD I really hoped you would react to the new ending too, it'd be nice seeing your thoughts on each one as they all are amazing and tend to hold relevance to the episode before it

Chainsaw Man's dub is so freaking awesome. Denji, Makima, and Power's English VA's are all absolutely perfect for their roles, especially the latter two. Read the manga, and I guarantee how they sound here is how you pictured their voices.
Lmfao Denji sounds like someone doing a chris prat impression and they gave Makima the most generic "Domme" voice ever. Power has to be worst of all. She sounds like every fan doing an impression of her.

I'll always love this episode, and it's crazy how much of it is in part due to Aki's reactions in the building with Denji when they were hunting that Fiend. You can visibly see the realizations hit him about just how piss poor Denji's life must have been before Makima recruited him. He's a massive Tsundere for the rest of the series and it's wonderful. Everyone loves Big Papa Aki.😂
While episode 1 focussed on Denji's tragic side, this one just hits the viewer over the head with his craziness. It's always so amusing to see reactors realize that he isn't your average Shounen hero. During the devil execution, he puts on an humble act that may remind the viewer of Tanjiro, just so he can get his hands on some porn magazines; he kicks his partner in the nuts; he doesn't care at all for the cause; and instead of being optimistic and selfless, he's cynical and self-centred. The mix between his shallowness and tragic background makes him unique, although it's very understandable if someone has a hard time connecting with him at first :D
But let's be honest here: if someone like Denji would exist in real life, this is exactly how he would act. Especially considering his upbringing.

I am sure that some dislike that you guys watch the eng dubs, but it is one more reason for me and others to see your reactions, since I get to watch the OG jp dub on my own and then also check out the dub together with your reaction.

Yeah, I really hate how toxic the dub haters get in the comments, whenever some dares to react to the dubbed version of an anime. I watch anime in both dub and sub, but I prefer dub because I have trouble following along in the sub version.

I'm incredibly curious what you guys will think of the show, especially the more 'fanservicey' moments. The first season is more of an introduction to the world and characters, showing the real themes and story if you read into it, but not outright stating them. Moments that seem completely useless and like pure fanservice genuinely serve a purpose, it's just that due to the amount of chapters the first season covered, it just seems weird for now unless you actually analyze it. But I'm still super excited for the reactions considering this is one of my favorite manga ever.
My current favorite being published. The end of Part 1 was just... incredible.

Unless you are one of those people that loose patience with slow burn story. If you excpected it to continue what season 1 did then it's not the show for you. I undertand but in my opinion season 2 is what tranformed Vinland Saga from a fun action show to a character driven masterpiece

This is a great adaption of Chainsaw Man. They do add some moments to flesh things out some. There's a scene where we see Aki's daily routine which is anime original, but beautifully animated and really does add to his characterization.
That being said, they did remove a whole other Devil and fight with Denji. In the manga, after they get the udon, they learn of a nearby Devil and Makima orders Denji to kill it. When he says he wants to eat first, she tells him he can't eat until he kills the Devil (this may be where she says the "woof or yes" line in the manga, but I'm not 100% certain). All we really miss is a fight with the Muscle Devil. As a manga reader, I wasn't unhappy to forego that and get to Aki and Power sooner.

Knowing this was also filmed last year makes sense I was confused why Kenny didn’t call Montana his beautiful wife

One thing I missed from the sub is when maxima feeds Denji she asks if he can feed himself and denji starts to say he can then switches to cannot so she will have to feed him 😂

This whole season made me pick up the manga and wow…I NEED the rest of this story animated. So many action set pieces, interesting characters and how it displays certain topics like abuse, all crafted in a journey that definitely becomes more than just “fan service”. Despite Denji’s *perv* thoughts, he still works as a main character. What makes him interesting is he literally wasn’t raised normally. Saw his father hanged and not given enough time to grief, he needed to grind no matter what to pay the debt. Imagine being a kid with no normal social interaction, no real education, no parents….just a kid with a dream. While his dreams are *VERY simple* it all makes sense given the context of his life. Theres an important yet simple detail about Denji we don’t know yet this earlier in the anime and upon knowing that detail in later eps, it makes more sense on why he’s simple minded.
Also the Sub version is great but the Dub is on a whole another level, i love it. Makima’s English VA is perfectly casted. In the Sub, she sounds high pitch and very nice (but still great) but Dub is perfectly soothing, seductive yet creepy and alluring
they aren’t ready for what Makima has in store lol

I so want them to someday (I don't care if it takes years) watch Violet Evergarden, Dororo (2019), Parasyte: The Maxim and Shiki. They are a bit different from the anime they've watched on this channel so far (although I haven't seen Code Geass yet so I don't know about that one) but I think they would enjoy the story and themes in the different anime. I love Evergarden, Dororo, Parasyte and Shiki so I'm always so happy when I see people jump into these beautiful stories. I think we would see some really interesting conversations come out of these anime, but that's true for all shows on this channel.
In dub sound a bit more creepy lol I think sub is way better and i don't know but it sounds more funny and chill, bc denji is just a dumb teen and the voice in de dub sound like way more older, but I know you guys watch all animes in dub so its fine

Man, some voices don't fit at all, specially Aki's voice, he sound sooo much older...
Denji's voice should sound a bit younger too, but more importantly, he should speak like an akward and rude teenager without education. He shouldn't speak so normally.
And Power should speak like she was from the medieval times more consistently.
Finally, on this dub every character speaks in an exaggerated way, like they would in a typical shonen, but the original Japanese voice lines in this show (at least from human characters) are spoken in a natural and realistic manner by the voice actors, and that's on purpose, because that adds another layer of realism in the characters.
I think that english dubs in anime are pretty uninspired and lame in general, but they really missed the point with this one.
The best dub I seen so far is from deathnote you can't disagree on that
@@GreenTeam-re3jy I haven't watched it in English, but I just checked some scenes, and according to what I saw, you're right, it's actually really good, at least the scenes I watched were.
I was specially impressed by the acting in Kira's last speech.
It seems like the dubbing director and the voice actors took their job seriously with that one.
The voices fit well, and the acting is very passionate and professional, as all should be.
I recommend you to watch some scenes of Death note in Spanish from Latin america (my native language), they did a really good job there too.
