This is the heart of the matter. I have eating plant based for the last four years and struggled with weight loss and health issues because I not able to be consistent. I couldn't figure out why I could not be successful. I knew what to eat and why. I watch all the videos, have read all the books, and still, I struggled. It finally dawned on me that it's my mindset that needed to change. My focus has changed now to changing and growing my mindset rather than the food. Honestly, it makes everything so much easier. Really good stuff, guys.
    Thanks, Susan

I love my family! I want them healthy and strong, free of disease and medications. They are also a strong willed family who are big meat eaters…ugh. LOL. Anyways, with this family of mine, I have decided to 1. Do this lifestyle for me and 2. Lead by example. Crazy, but over the past few years, it seems like I’m the one my family goes to when they want a home remedy for a cold. Or they ask me for a vegetable recipe for a family gathering. My husband realized his cholesterol medicine was not working in his favor and has gotten off it and feels so much better, and uses my vinegar lemon water when he has indigestion. So fun to sit back and watch them change some of their diet for the better. Even my son, will say I was right about some of the WFPB living. Even my DIL is trying to cook better using healthy ingredients. And my daughter and her friends are now sending me new recipes and ticktock recipes. Oh, and I’m 74 and my kids are in their 50’s. I want them so much to be healthy, but they never listen to me. Yet they are amazed that I am so agile and healthy for 74. So mind set for me is tricking my family into a better healthy lifestyle.

what I like about plantstrong is that it goes towards foods that're naturally plant-based, rather than turning plants into animal forms. The issue is the food - I am very sensitive to legumes and alliums, so I can't just buy much of the main courses sold by the brand. I worry even if I buy other stuff, what I might accidentally walk into. But I really do respect heavily the cultural infusion of the brand - looking into the past to what our family ate that's naturally vegan, what other cultures eat (like Indian and Latin American foods). USA American foods were so rich in plant-based recipes - we moved so far away from that and most vegan brands don't even consider them at all. I love how this brand embraces it - so I look forward to the recipe developments (and hopefully some foods I can actually eat by the brand - I like buying vegan only foods from vegan only brands).

the adage is more correct - you are what you eat. What we don't absorb gets treated by the gut microbiome who process the foods to protect our immune system. Not everything we absorb is going to be what is a part of our bodies. But you're right - it's not perfect. It's not just what we eat - it's what we're a part of. Maybe we don't absorb salt, but since sweat has salt to provide immune protection, maybe someone does a salt scrub to remove microbes from their skin to not fall ill. There's plenty of microbes on our bodies that perform many functions for us. It's more of 'we are who we are' or 'we are what we become', rather than 'we are what we eat'. I agree - I never agreed with that statement, but since others do - I've used it a lot.

Hey y’all I’m a homeschool mom and am building a health and nutrition course. I’m looking for a program or materials for my teenagers. We are a wfpb family and they are often exposed to amazing podcasts like this one! Thanks!

I’m loving eating this way but I’m still having some bloating problems. So maybe need you to know I’ve had bypass surgery back in 1998, but recently am on long term prednisone since Feb 2023 due to being diagnosed with PMR. Trying to get off prednisone but has to go slow getting off or they say can effect my adrenal gland. What are your thoughts to help me feel better eating this way as I don’t want to give up. As didn’t feel well eating other ways either.

Think about ways people use meat. It's basically the same meat over and over, but prepared differently in various dishes using different herbs, spices, sauces, etc. So in the case of beans, make a bean soup one night that is maybe navy beans, carrots, onions, celery, flavored with thyme. Next, make a Mexican flavored tortilla or taco with cumin, chili powder and other Mexican spices, and fill it with black beans. Next, make an Asian themed rollup with sprouted whole wheat rollup shells and season something like mung beans with peanut/ginger sauce, adding red lettuce, dried cranberries and bell peppers to it. Make a spaghetti sauce with Italian flavors like oregano, and put white cannellini beans in it. Make chili with red kidney beans. See how varied these dishes and flavors are? That's what I do, and we never get bored of beans. Hope this helps.

Maybe you need a break. Tofu is great. Get a tofu press to get the water out. Flavor with your favorite sauce and bake. There are many ways to prepare tofu online.
Some day I enjoy potatoes with kale. Beans in a salad. So many choices. You won't get bored if you listen to your body. Be well.
