    非常感谢介绍这个区。虽然从中国人看来这一类的老建筑可能不太适合他们对现代生活的需求了,但我希望中国人越来越会发现这样地方的好处。看上去像是在老小区的生活还保留着一个放松的生活节奏和安全的环境。充满了小店和见面邻居的机会。这个又活泼又放松的风格对我个人印象非常有吸引力。希望随之时间的推移这些地方会被好好保留的而不失去它们的特殊之处。

      @@teach-learn4078 Sure, it seems super cozy and lively. It feels like it has the perfect density where there's enough shops and restaurants for everyday needs but it's not too overcrowded.

    Super good video, has a nice documentary feel. The writing is very good, and your delivery is relaxed and with good pacing and pauses. I. e. you are getting better all the time.
    One question is, why are some schools "better" than others? Don't all (government) schools get the same funding per student? In Canada, richer neighborhoods have more involved parents and therefore better students, therefore better reputations, but the amount of money per student for each school is the same by law across the jurisdiction, i. e. in that city. It seems Chinese schools are very unjust in this regard, if I understand correctly. It's also very unhealthy and inhumane to have such a high level of (artificially created) competition. Am I wrong? Thanks

      谢谢你的问题,说实话我之前还真没想过这个问题。不过在中国各个地区、各个城市不同的学校好坏差异还挺明显的,一般来说每个城市都有自己最好的一所或者好几所公立学校,但是我个人觉得这跟政府是否给每个学校同等数量的资金投入没有特别大的关系。
      首先,在同一座城市当中,政府给不同学校投入的资金取决于很多的因素,不仅仅要看这个学校的学生数量,还得评估学校的教学质量、教学成果等等。
      另外,不同学校建立的时间也不一样,而一所学校的历史长短会影响它的文化、质量和声誉。以我所在的城市长沙为例,在长沙有四所最好的公立高中,我们叫它们“四大名校”,这四所学校的建立时间都非常早,分别成立于1904年、1905年、1906年还有1912年。整个长沙市的学生都希望能考入这四所高中当中的一所,甚至湖南省其他城市的人也想进入这四所学校读书。所以它们能够得到全长沙市,乃至全湖南省最好的生源。在高考当中它们的学生成绩自然要比其他普通的学校好得多,这样一来,它们的声誉更加好,有更多的人想要进入这几所学校就读。而对于那些成立时间稍晚一些的学校,它们自然没有这方面的竞争优势。
      再者,不同的学校也有可能属于不同级别的政府管理。比如说在中国,省级政府的下一级是市,再下一级是区。一些直接由省教育局或者市教育局管理的学校自然要比由区教育局管理的学校能够得到更多的资源。
      以上只是我暂时想到的三个原因,肯定还有更多。但总而言之,不同学校的确得到了来自政府的不同数量的资金支持,这不仅跟它们的学生数量有关,还和很多其他因素有关。而且,钱、资源并不只是一所学校比另一所学校好的唯一原因。所以,在我看来,并不是政府给每个学校按照学生数量发钱就能解决孩子竞争压力太大的问题。
