I read three books by Hessler "River town", Country driving" and "Oracle bones". All are beautifully written and very informative. It would be interesting to hear what your reception of them is (I also wonder if they were translated completely without omitting some more political aspects

a person that looses creative ambition when life gets good will loose it even faster if life gets bad. that's just how it is and it's fine🙂 the notion, that there are people, that their life is good enough to have the mental space to be bothered by this common phenomenon, makes me smile. I remember being like them a looong time ago)
reviewing books is a great and convenient way to create content, especially in the context of learning languages imho, i listened w interest and even recognized a few handfuls of words😀 thank you!
