    Hi Mike. This is part 1 of my message... I use Excel 70% of my day, every day. Today I was recording a macro, (to run in various open workbooks) that I never would have done before this video. I tried recording macros before but always battled because of not really understanding things like the 'relative' button. I'm a visual learner and I've got it now. You add to my enjoyment and understanding of my work...part 2 to follow

    I wanted to produce a monthly invoice and an expenses sheet from my daily training job entries and so wanted everything to be entered automatically. Now - using your macros - this is so much easier and quicker than it used to be. I think the idea I had (above) saves having to add the first entry manually and makes this even more automatic now, but thanks. Paul

    Whole Number usually means 1, 2, 3...
    Integers usually means ...-2, -1, 0, 1, 2...
    To see if G7 equals an integer (no decimals), try:
    =G7=INT(G7)
    This will deliver TRUE if there are no decimals.
    You could also use something like:
    =IF(G7=INT(G7),"Integer","Not Integer")

      ExcelIsFun Do you have a video on how to get data that meets a criterion to appear in another worksheet? I've found other videos that demonstrate using the Advanced Filter option, but I cannot get that to work (get an error), and not sure if that is the best solution.
      So as an example, I have data regarding providing project quotes and each have a status code. I want to use the status code to break up the projects into different worksheets, so that a person doesn't have to go through the entire data table or use various column filters (keeping the individuals from needing to access the data table to maintain data integrity). :)

    • @excelisfun

      For advanced filter, maybe: Highline Excel 2013 Class Video 37: Excel Advanced Filter Extract Data 26 Examples Basic - Advanced
      for formulas, maybe: Excel Magic Trick 538: Dynamic Sub Tables Based On Master Sheet Array Formula & Drilling Through

    Sorry, I had one other question. There's a place in the video around 5:55 where you need to use ctrl-down arrow to make sure it selects the next empty cell to add to. But if I use that when there is no data yet, it brings it to the last cell in the worksheet rather than the next cell with no data (with or without transition keys). So that shortcut seems to work if you have data in the table already, but not if you're trying to add the first item in the table.

    • @excelisfun
      @excelisfun  10 лет назад +1

      It sounds like you may need hand written VBA code to solve your two problems. I do not know how to do that. You might want to try the alternative site (THE best Excel question site):
